It would have been too much exposition and break up the pace of the fight if all of them were included. Removing it didn't take away anything more than exposition.
      I mean, imagine if they included all the Boss power levels and all of Mob's 100% stages as the regular flashcards...

      Reigen is one of the best dads in anime. He's great to Mob (for obvious reasons), Teru (their relationship is better showcased in the manga, taking all the kids out to catch bugs, go to the beach and an amusement park just so that Teruki can have fun for his summer break under the guise of "exorcizing" spirits for a 'client' AND gave him free reign to hang out at the office whenever he likes. • @NerdMiGerd
    @NerdMiGerd Před rokem +20

    I remember being told by somebody that Reigen is the living embodiment of Imposter Syndrome, and I feel like the separation arc really helped me see that.
    The whole reason he can be so damn slick is because Reigen is actually an insanely talented man who's held back by a built-in complex that keeps him from seeing himself as a properly accomplished man. The "I wanna be somebody" essay so clearly paints a picture of a kid who most definitely had a lot of talents, that just didn't line up with what society at large was expecting of him, *very* much like what we're seeing with Mob at the start of the series. The only reason he's a con man is because he genuinely believes he is incapable of having success through legitimate means. He only took the "fake it till you make it" road in life because he thought he had no other choice, due to not having the built-in tools that were expected of him at an early stage of his development.
    It's why their new relationship is season 3 is so heartwarming. Reigen lets Mob be more independent because he genuinely wants him to grow to be a better man than him, and largely succeeds with that by being willing to let him go when he's clearly ready to enter the next phase of his life. And it's nice seeing that in the Reigen spinoff Mob still hangs out with him in his free time because they built a bond that goes past their work.

    • @landmerry_6742
      @landmerry_6742 Před rokem +5

      Just quickly though: although this fits a certain facade of the character, also remember that a large part of why Reigen quit his old job was simply that he got bored. That's it. So while he is afraid of showing the more genuine part of himself, he is also confident enough in his abilities to believe he could start from scratch and achieve anything on his own.
      And about mob: In the spinoff manga he actually hasn't quit the job at the office. He was just busy for tests and took time off for a while.

    Watching the episode-when it came out-where Mob walks in and sees the burning corpses of what the audience would also assume was Mob’s family…I don’t think I’ve ever been impacted so immensely and been so invested into a show as I was during the week leading up to the episode that came after. The way that scene was handled, and the way it just comes out of nowhere…I just can’t describe how invested I was, but I recall thinking about the gravity of the implications of that cliffhanger every day for that week lol. Honestly I was a bit disappointed that it ended up being a fake out in the end, but I still have to appreciate how incredible that scene was. I fucking love this series so much.

    Season 2 of Mob Psycho 100 is a masterpiece. There is so much variety in animation from the Street Fighter homage to the darkness of the Mogami episodes. But the true star is the heart. Between Mob repairing Emi's story and Reigen's heart warming moment with Mob in the middle of the season, the characters feel so human.

    You touched on it well, one of the things Mob does so well this season is bring you a happy tear. I think it's one thing to make you cry over something sad, and I don't mean to demean those moments, but to frequently bring me to tears of happiness and comfort and warmth is really something special and this season accomplished that at least twice in episodes 1 and 7.

    My favourite element of the final battle is how Mob bounces between the different 100% states he's been in over the course of the series as he tries different approaches to reach or defeat Toichiro. Really show how he's grown to master these different aspects of himself and his complexity as a character and just how much he's trying here.

    Mob Psycho was one of those animes that I knew I would find entertaining but I didn't think it would be my favorite and damn was I so wrong. It became one of my favs if not my favorite anime. Many people state that Naruto is what inspired them to try and become great and to some extent I agree I mean Naruto was part of many childhoods but I think Mob Psycho did it for me because it shows that no matter what age no matter how ordinary you can always try to become a better version of yourself.

    During my high school year I took cross country, and the feeling of watching how you go from almost last place to making it towards your goals feels amazing, the scene where mob is blatantly out of breath and stamina but continues running to try and finish just hit me hard. Although we all knew mob wouldn’t have been able to make it to the top 10 in under a few days of training seeing him improve with his own will and determination just really stuck with me. I listen to the mob psycho OST during my runs and Gym workouts, reminding myself that if mob could do this, I’m pretty sure we all can.
