Loreen has done quite a bit of statements and political activism. In 2012 in Baku where she won she spoke with local human rights groups. She has also visited democracy groups in Belarus and helped bring more support to stop the suffering in Afghanistan. She has also been awarded prizes for her work in supporting children in need. So my guess is that she probably was active in this decision and wanted to send a message. I also have vague memories of reading that she didn't want the act to centre around her so much, which is one of the reasons that she disappears into the crowd at the end.

Loreen is a real artists, not just singer who knows to sing. I love her live performances, musical improvisations, she feel everything about music. You should react on "Statements" - Melodifestivalen 2017, Sweden missed the opportunity to win Eurovision once again.

One of the best ESC openers without a doubt, and all down to the production skills of the Swedish broadcaster SVT. This set a real benchmark which they, themselves, surpassed when they hosted it once again in 2016 - a fantastic opener and a couple of great interval acts. You have those treats ahead of you in a few weeks time 😉

Loving the idea of incorporating the opening acts into your reactions! There's also some absolutely killer interval acts.
Loreen always hits it out of the park for me, so I really can't recommend her 2017 entry "Statements" enough. It's probably one of my favorite Melodifestivalen songs of all time, actually. czcams.com/video/ckFNon_1PgY/video.html

@@JordanDavisEurovision Honestly, the only disappointment with that performance is that it somehow didn't even reach the final. I know a loooooot of Eurovision fans outside of Sweden (who watch MelFest) are still baffled by that 3 years later, and I feel them.

Looking forward to these reaction series!
I really like this opening act, Loreen´s amazing and so are the kids. It was from the semifinal, the opening act from the final is also amazing with a song written by Björn & Benny from ABBA and Avicii. Check out: Avicii, ABBA's Benny & Björn - We Write The Story (Eurovision 2013).
The bridge is very symbolic, the Öresund-bridge connects Sweden with the rest of Europe (via Denmark) and the 2013 Eurovision was held in Malmö which is the 3rd largest city in Sweden, and the city that is connected to Copenhagen in Denmark via this bridge.
Hope you react to Petra´s interval act "ESC 2013 FINAL - Petra Mede - Swedish Smörgåsbord" too. It´s quite funny.

And yes, some interval acts are really worth watching (not all tho 😎). Since you’re now at 2013, did you also plan to watch interval from SF2 with Darin and Agnes? If not, maybe you should 😊

@@teo_heel Why? Sweden usually has best songs and Melodifestivalen for them is like national holiday that last 2 months. No other country put so much effort before Eurovision. Every year they get over 3000 songs to choose from. Btw Loreen is Marroccan Swedish.

@@teo_heel You do realise that almost all of the major worldwide hit songs have Swedish writers? Don't hate them because they have the talent and take Eurovision more seriously than other countries. Euphoria especially was a worldwide hit, it even made the top 40 here in Australia.
