Oh my, I still barely can't watch that little cute larvae without crying. An adoring little fragile creature, traveling through different European locations. When it's laying down to sleep in the truck it's particularly adorable. And then transforming to an astonishing butterfly and the choir comes in and all that symbolism, a strong message of unity and equality (even more important today, five years later)... This is a masterpiece! Worth every öre of the license fee! :-)
While Sweden, Germany and Norway captured what Eurovision should be all about, to celebrate Europe and our music, in their shows in 2013, 2011 and 2010, Azerbaijan choose to say it was all about them and azeri culture in Baku 2012. Oslo 2010, Düsseldorf 2011 and Malmö 2013 have been the best Eurovision-shows so far and I can proudly say that they are all my neigbouring countries :) What a good job - greetings from Denmark :)
well, maybe they did that because Azerbaijan it´s an unknown country, for the most of the europeans, and they tried to bring tourism with that, they are building a lot of beautiful buildings as baku christal hall. It's only my point of view, i am waiting what Copenhagen will do. Kisses from Spain
Denmark in 2014: Good representation of both Denmark and Europe- Especially in the Postcards! Austria in 2015: A mess. Poor hosting, overrun with technical glitches but good postcards Sweden in 2016: Fantastic hosting and postcards, giving each country its own identity. Ukraine in 2017: Crap hosting, boring postcards, too many Eurovision-related promotions that broke up the show, and a main theme that was completely undermined. Portugal in 2018: Arrogant postcards that were more about Portugal than the artists, hosts that stumbled over their script and unfunny comedy, but incredible graphics!
The Swedes really got it... They know how to stage a great show. They know how to make great live television. And above all - they know how to produce captivating music... Denmark too, a great show... But still - SVT did a tick better...
They have years of experience in live tv and song competitions with their Eurovision Selection, the Melodifestivalen contest, which is by now, a national treasure. The Swedes take Eurovision very seriously it seems. I love it. They deliver, every year.
We are all ONE EUROPE!....There is fight in every family but we should stop fighting as soon as possible....So, Ukraine and Russia, it's enough now....stop and be again a family...please.!!!!...:-)
Interesting that you call it low-budget when the total cost for kyiv was €37m and Malmö had a total cost of €19.9m (or almost half the cost). I think it shows it's not about how much money you spend, but rather how you spend it
1. You had terrible hosts 2. Some people were evicted from their homes, for the sole purpose of Baku wanting a big arena to show off 3. Your interval acts - a medley of eurovision winners + a tacky cover of Abba's waterloo .. ? Because that was so creative. I did like the way the arena was lit up with the entry's flag before every act though, but best Eurovision Song Contest hosting of all time? - Hell no,
RIP Avicii. Very sad.
Tim Bergling alongside Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. Gives some perspective on the talent Avicii
This is a masterpiece! Rest in peace, Avicii ❤️
#RIPAVICII 💔

caballerias As the host nation you can easily show the culture of your country without creating a propaganda show which Azerbaijan did..

they might win with Loreen again this year, and I won't even be mad, because their opening ceremonies are so good

Wow! The magic of the 90's intros, is back and surpassed. Let's see what the Danes can bring us this May..
I find it funny that 2000 and 2013 when Sweden was hosting Eurovision Denmark won both times.
Peter Schön and maybe it will happen again!
And Ukraine won in 2016 :D

Fantastic.
Much better than the low-budget eurovision 2017 in kiev...

A Z E R B A I J A N
I wish that the flags of all 39 countries were there that night on the stage :/
Det stavas väl "ceremony" ? ;)
The butterfly is from Azerbaijan, but used by Sweden.
Zion del Rosario Why is the butterfly from azerbajdzjan ?
Zion del Rosario butterflies live in almost every country...
Azerbaijan had a fire symbol for Eurovision, it looked like a flower or a star on fire, not a butterfly
thats good because i am swedish
It was last eurovision before 2014 before ukraine and other events. Last peace eurovision
eurovision 2011 was better in my opinion, the stadium this year was too small but the animations were the best!
Cute story about the worm
Undra hur många miljoner Zlatan fick för att säga den meningen... lol
oz aramizdi azerbaycandaki qeder gozel olmayib:P

This was ruined for me by 3:08. Why does it have to be football with everything!
Ən gözəl eurovision yarışması Azərbaycanda oldu. The best eurovision is Azerbaijan. Land of fire. Eurovision 2012
