The science behind smelly armpits.

Never thought I’d be doing this, but I actually spent some time digging into the biomechanics behind why your armpits smell, and well, it is fascinating, so I had to make a whole video about it!
Where does the smell come from?
The stink happens when sweat reaches the surface of your skin and the bacteria in your armpits start growing and producing stinky gasses.
    2 ways to prevent:
1️⃣ Traditional antiperspirants contain aluminum salts that mix with sweat, creating a gel-like substance that temporarily blocks pores, so it never has a chance to reach the bacteria, so → less smell.
2️⃣ Aluminum free deodorants like this one from @secret don’t contain aluminum salts. Instead, they create an unfriendly environment for the bacteria, making it hard for them to grow, so that when the sweat does reach the surface of your armpits, there is less bacteria producing gas, therefore → less smell.
    Interesting huh?

For those of us who feel like they always smell no matter what deodorant they use: make sure you’re cleaning your armpits with antibacterial soap!!! It took me years to understand why I had to keep switching deodorants because they weren’t working or would only kinda work. Antibacterial soap kills all the bacteria in your armpits that cause the odor so your armpits have a truly clean canvas for your deodorant to work. Everything else I was using wasn’t antibacterial so it would just mask the smell but never truly eliminate it. So yeah if you have a this problem try an antibacterial soap like Irish Spring or Dial Gold in the shower. You can still follow up with your favorite soap or body wash after!

@@tatihinds4939 Before you go saying this is lies and I could be wrong but I think you possibly misunderstood what they were talking about. I believe they’re talking about something your body goes through when you switch to a natural product. A couple months ago I started using natural/homemade deodorant and there was this window where my armpits were detoxing and they were stinkier than just not wearing deodorant or antiperspirant but it went back to normal after a little while. The aluminum in a lot of products seems to almost block what you would normally excrete and using them for years makes a sort of build up that needs to be detoxed meaning there’s some stinkiness that may make you feel like a natural product isn’t working, I think the point they were making was something to do with the detoxing process. Pretty much you switch, there’s a stinky detox period then it really starts to work how it was meant to.

The aluminum irritates my skin alot so I go aluminum free. If you're worried about aluminum free not being powerful enough, get a deodorant with a thick application, apply a little bit of rubbing alcohol before, or try a deodorant with a strong citrus aroma. It'll help

I couldn’t care less about smell tbh. I have hyperhydrosis so my pit stains will be BASKET BALL SIZED. Now, the antiperspirant I have used for 4 years is called “Carpe”. It is the best antiperspirant I have ever used and I don’t have put stains anymore. Like at all.
Summer was my depression season because I was limited to one color and one color only, black. I couldn’t wear anything else in fear that my basket ball sized pit stains would come out. But carpe let’s me wear whatever I want to wear. Love it so much.

If you apply at night it helps very much. I use the brand Vanity, or “Natura Todo Dia” both fragrance/perfume free. And it works very well.
Another tip to combine is to wash your arm tip am/pm with Benzoyl Peroxide, which is known as a Acne fighter ingredient, but it dose help killing bad bacteria that causes smell.

I couldn’t stand to smell myself anymore it ruined my shirts since the stink got trapped in the fiber and I hat to replace an entire summer and winter wardrobe. Only antitranspirant helps but that episode of my life nearly drove me insane. I wanted to claw my skin of to escape the smell and it was so embarrassing

my armpits used to smell really bad when swaet even if I put on dofferent types of deodorants and antiperspirants. It also doesn't help that I live in a hot country.
The solution I found was a skin cleanser (chlorhexidine digluconate), that was prescribed to me when I had a wound. It had stated in the indications that is was a general skin and wound cleanser with persistent antimicrobial activity and I haven't smelled bad eversince
TL;DR: Use a skin and wound cleanser. Chlorhexidine Digluconate is the name

Kosas has a great deodorant that works by lowering ph of the skin, much like the deodorant she mentioned, but uses AHA. It makes your skin inhospitable to the bacteria that creates the BO. It’s a great way to naturally reduce odor, lightly exfoliates your underarm and the ingrown hairs I usually get from shaving are literally gone. Safely using acids under your arm are amazing for odor and naturally allow you to sweat. This is coming from someone with sensitive skin! If you excessively sweat, look into Botox or Miradry. I’ve heard both are great solutions. Hope this helps someone

This makes me so glad that I stopped using deodorant years ago. And no I don't have horrible body odor. All the deodorants I tried made my skin under my arms turn super dark & was really self conscious about so I just stopped using deodorant all together. I found the longer I didn't use it, the more I didn't need it. Any deodorant you use is going to be bad for you because it's blocking the toxins from coming out of your body when you sweat. I'm also saving money

My fave of these new type of deodorants is a brand called Nuud !! I don't remember the ingredients but there was clay and silver in it I think? Anyways, I rarely have to apply deodorant anymore, I apply maybe once a week and after adjusting to using it I don't get any smelly it's-been-too-long-since-last-time situations anymore ! When I worked out more I would apply twice a week, max. I have forgotten that I seriously had to apply deo every day/other day and it broke so easily when I went swimming etc, too... Was not fun, ever. I've been using Nuud since 2019 and use one tube in 6-9 months, which is way longer than what they advertise for. So cheap!! I know I sound like a salesperson (which I did use to do lol), but I genuinely think going aluminium free is the game changer! Go try it for a month or so!

First of all, shave off all the armpit hair. Being hairless keeps one's underarms clean, there is less smell, less odour, less bacteria & less of anything nasty. Secondly, deodorant is NOT for everyone. Wear perfume instead as it lasts longer. Also, have a bath. Bath twice or even thrice a day once you start to sweat. Keep yourself clean.
