    Reason #5 is a lie. You have to use the card as a credit card as you have to make 5 purchases a month to earn rent points.

    And here's another reason to get the Bilt card: a host-read ad on the "Morning Announcements" podcast says we can now earn points when making mortgage payments. The host says she's doing it herself in fact. The ad has run on several episodes this week.

      I'll wait for an official announcement from Bilt before confirming that. Just because you "can" do something doesn't mean the terms allow for it, so there could be a risk.

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  Před 11 měsíci +3

      For some people, yes, there's absolutely a case to be made for getting the Bilt Card even without paying rent. It's a solid card for dining & travel, gives a guaranteed 1.25¢ point value for travel redemptions via the portal, comes with great insurance protections, and has a $0 annual fee. Plus, it even has transfer partners that overlap with the likes of Amex, Chase, Capital One, and Citi, allowing you to indirectly combine points into those airline / hotel programs 💯
      In many ways, it's a lot like a $0 AF version of the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

    @Mark Reese you mentioned cash redemption for points to a value of $0.0125/point. Where did you get that number? I looked all over the Belt site several times, and unless I missed the very obvious (it is very possible), it is not there anywhere I could find it at least. Also, there was mention in the past of bringing in mortgages and HOA fees. Has this changed in the last few months or does it remain "as coming" still?? Thanks in advance

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  Před 11 měsíci +2

      1. I said the redemption value is 1.25¢ per point for _travel via the portal,_ not for cash. I just know this because, as a user, I can see the options in my app and did the cent-per-point calculations.

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Hey Christian - My general recommendation is 1 or 2 cards in Year 1. That's easy to manage with the possibility of earning some basic rewards while keeping focused on building smart financial habits & building your score. However, some people prefer to get more if their focus is on the rewards.
      There isn't a "right" answer for everyone, and there is not a set rule.
      After Year 1, you should be in good shape to get just about any card you like if you've built a score into the 700s.

      Hi Clinton - I'm not aware of an issue paying their rent if they give you their consent, but you could ask Bilt directly if you want to confirm.
      I don't have a way of knowing if / when mortgage payments will be accepted by Bilt.
      I'll also ask them directly.

      Just heard back: Yes, you can pay someone else's rent via Bilt. However, you can only make 1 total rent payment each month.

    can you pay mortgage with it? It has the routing and account number and lets you connect your checking account with it...

    • @JZWY
      @JZWY Před 11 měsíci

      So what happens when you enter the routing and checking account information into a mortgage portal? Does it reject the payment?

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  Před 11 měsíci +1

      No, mortgages are not eligible.
      What exactly happens if you try it? I can't say as I haven't tried it.
      Bilt's internal team validates charges and ensures compliance with Bilt's Terms & Conditions.
      Not following the rules could have consequences. To me, it's not worth risking an account closure, points forfeiture, etc.

    I wonder why no other credit card company is not trying to tap into that market BILT is a card worth losing a 5/24 spot for every day of the week

      Perhaps they are but we just don't know it yet 😁 It'd be cool to see the launch of a competitive card at some point.

      Mortgage payments are not allowed at this time. Even if it goes through initially, you'd be at risk of Bilt taking action later for abuse of their terms & conditions.

    If my landlord only takes cash, can I send the bilt check to myself(to earn the points) deposit it and withdraw to pay him cash? (Extra steps I know but at least now I get the points)

      As far as I know bilt them selfs send the check to your landlord ans you pay it off with them and get points

      I'm not sure why you'd want to do that? Bilt sends the check to your landlord for you & you still earn points.
