These days it turned out to be very rainy weather, but this did not prevent us from carrying out our plans! And the plans were to cover our dugout with an awning from the rain.
Misha and I have known for a long time what we need and how to do it, thanks to the invaluable experience gained as a result of working with a log cabin, which is why the work is progressing quickly!

are you looking to make a bigger place. Underground dugouts really are so good and they say it is warmer underground to with fire on - maintains the heat. The overhang at the front and back side is very clever, it keeps out weather and you can lay your wood to dry at those places and as a bonus when you do that, the wood will give some extra insulation. Unless you have plans to bury the entire dug-out¿? Whoops! Do not know where that upside-down question mark came from, lol 😮 😂

Too bad you did not have two more long narrow tarps to extend the protection to the other side of the dirt berm. That would have offered better rain protection as water will still get in as it runs off of the main tarp and into the dugout.
But, you are making progress and it is good to see.
