  • 2 years since it was released, Ratzi takes a look back at the Reloop Buddy. With the Neural Mix and Looper features, was this entry controller ahead of it's time? 🤨

I love my buddy. I remapped a few buttons so I can use the filters with the neural eqs. Also mapped the a and b buttons to kill vocals, shift + a and b to kill non vocals so I don’t need to mess swapping the pad modes too much. Also shift + sync for key syncing. Works great

The buddy was what got me into DJing actually. Can't recommend it enough for starters. One of the features of the software that most helped me build a library is the Match feature where it proposes songs from either your library or any of the streaming services that would go along with what is currently playing.

I really like using mine with Virtual DJ for small setups. Love the stems features and paddle FXs

Doesn't neural mix also isolate stems on the fly? Serato et-al still recommends analysing tracks separating into stems before they work without overworking your laptop. Also triples storage requirements. Serato still some way behind it seems.

Is Reloop making a newer model at some point or is this it?

….so getting the looper in key needs to be implemented….

Do you like it more than the Ready?

The only thing I don’t like is the looper has 64 options but you’re limited to 16 with the controller.
Also important to note Djay pro has ableton link integration. I use my launchkey mini with to play keys and other beats while being in sync with algoriddim. It can also be mapped for additional uses inside djay pro (for those that complain there’s no mid equalizer).

Great points. We're mainly focusing on the controller here though.

If only the soundcard wouldn‘t be that awful

Agreed! I always get an annoying hum coming through. I ended up using it with an external audio interface

Great video Ratzi. Must admit, I am not a creative dj so have not been taken by stems etc, not necessary for what I do, but your video has somehow got me interested. I like how you created a rhythm over the main track and isolated the vocals seems so easy and fluidly done (I appreciate however the skills you have in making it so easy looking!). But it has generated my interest, and especially with a small budget controller-I never knew it’s capability’s with the software. Last thing I need is another £1000+ controller for stems, with having a Prime 4, XDJ XZ, MCX 8000 and Mixstream Pro. I might now, however get one of these to dabble. Nuff respect 🫡
