In India, Hindi poses a bigger threat to the Regional languages than English, and the Threat to The Languages related to Hindi is even Greater.
I am giving you an Example from my personal experience.
One day our Professor of Linguistics said to everybody in our Class to write our names and mother tongues.
Many of my Classmates wrote Hindi, instead of Their Original Mother tongues which were Khortha, Sadri, Magahi, etc.
Plus , in my semester exam, when I wrote an essay Critical to Hindi in Hindi on the Topic "Rastrabhasha Hindi ke bina Bharat Gunga hai", I was awarded least marks in the Paper despite of presenting Facts and Information.
Then under the 'NEP', Hindi has been forced as a compulsory subject over all students, even those who don't Know H of Hindi have to study it.
Nobody Demands for Hindi even in India, even I will appear for an Interview, the Questions will be asked in English only.
Then why should I learn Hindi, it's nither close to me like my Mother tongue, nor Useful as English.
    Hindi is just Overrated

True, even in South when I am in Chennai, if I go to a local restaurant they speak Tamil or if you go to little hifi restaurant they speak Tamil or English, but when I go to a restaurant in Hyderabad, most of them speak's Hindi.
It's like if you are coming to Tamilnadu and want to run a restaurant, you need to learn Tamil, but that's not the same in Hyderabad or Mumbai.
It might look like an advantage but forcing people to learn the local language is what keeps the language alive.
China is a good example for this, many dialects in China are almost extinct because of Mandarin.

It's easy to tell which languages are in danger and which are not. The languages which are used officially by states are no way in danger of extinction. I find south indian extremism against hindi total bs since their languages can never be in danger as long as it is used. The languages which are in danger of extinction are the once which are barely used like marwadi, magadhi, awadhi, garhwali, kumaoni etc. But then north indians don't really care about their own languages so can't say they need help with that or not.

    • @mrinalganash4725
      @mrinalganash4725 Před 24 dny

"South Indian extremism" is a very crass way to describe decades of social agitation which LED to these languages become official languages in India. The difference between tamil and marwadi is that the Tamil people protested and protected their culture and the Marwadi people were crushed by the national hegemony.

@@mrinalganash4725 It's not called being "crushed" when they don't really care about it. Also I describe it very well. The language extremism in south is like no other non hindi states. I say this after seeing the kind of hilarious controversies because of Hindi in south. Tamil and other 4 south languages are privileged that they have their own state and those languages are used there but still they are way too insecure for it's extinction. It's just like religious extremism in north.

Even though I speak English at work and with friends, when I come back home I still speak to my family in Tamil or Kannada. Where as most of my friends who have learnt Hindi do not speak their mother tongue once they go home as their own parents have encouraged speaking Hindi at home. If Hindi becomes more important than English, then our jobs will be at stake, the jobs that helps sustain us. Is the government imposing English on us? No they aren’t, it’s only been Hindi. Congress and the bjp have done that repeatedly. Do you think if we foreign investors come to India or Indian investors go abroad they can speak Hindi? No they can’t, the cultural identity of India will become Hindi and not its variety of other languages that make India as India

For the difference between history and itihasa is “Dharma-artha-kama-mokshanam-upadesa samanvitham.
    Poorva-vrutta-kathayuktham-itihasam prachakshate”
*Itihasam is a historical narrative that instructs (one) on Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha (the Purusharthas).
So itihasa is not just history with dates and events. It’s more than that. And Ramayana and Mahabharata are the only two two itihasas claimed by the Santana dharma
This is just sharing info coz you asked for it. I don’t impose anyone to have my views I am skeptic myself but my journey of understanding our faith and culture are reviling the truths of human life and their evolution.

@@basantprasadsgarden8365 Well it is for us to find out. If a claim is made then we must do archeological studies and examine those sites mentioned in those epics to debunk.
As I said I am a skeptic myself, I do not believe 100% exactly how it must have happened. There can be and most probably over exaggeration of the certain characters to paint a picture for their strengths and capabillities. Which are being added or got distorted in a way coming down from ancient times. Imagine you telling a story to one person and then that person telling to next, until it reaches hundredth person there can be many additions and substraction to the stories. something similar can happen to these stories too. And to just being clear two itihasas are 'Valmiki Ramayan' and 'Vedvyas Mahabharat' only. if you stick to these two most of the supernatural stuff is not even a part of it.
And well thats the beauty of sanatana dharma you can question and challenge everything that is said or claimed. Try doing that for another religions you would be lucky to keep your head attached to your body.
