As an Indian from Telangana, English is not a foreign language for me as compared to Hindi. Hindi is way more foreign to me than English.

A language like Bhojpuri which is recognised internationally was never recognised as an official language in India because of this whole idea of "Hindi, Hindu, Hindustan". A language which is almost dying and has not been preserved even by the people from Bhojpur region because their political agenda aligns with the ruling dispensation, bothers me about the future of such languages. If I am given a choice to dislike either English or Hindi, I will be more opposed to Hindi compared to English, because it was not because of English that languages like Bhojpuri, Awadhi or Braj couldn't develop, but it was because of Hindi imposition by nearly all political parties.

I am from Kerala, here hindhi is necessary till 10th.What the hell is that dude saying.🤭

  • @curiosity_fan

Actually the guy meant to say that irrespective of all the other languages spoken in the country, English has its origins outside the country which he is terming as foreign. I guess Vimoh should have allowed that guy to say his point completely for once. I don't think this was a productive conversation.

  • @abhishekvenkitaraman7797

The unbiased one being totally and shamelessly biased. What a conversation. 😂

These people consistently fail to miss the key point: Hindi is not native to India, it is native to Western UP. It is a language spoken in India, but the only thing that merits its use as a national language is the fact that it was spread across North India colonial powers who used Delhi and Agra as seats of power. A Tamil person will be expected to Learn Tamil, English and Hindi. An Adivasi person from Madhya Pradesh will be expected to learn their native language, English and Hindi. A Naga person will be expected to learn their native language, Nagamese creole, English and Hindi.

Most of the Indians are fine with what language the other speaks. Just don't shove your language down someone else's throat.

I too agree. What is this Hindi imposition on our Multi-lingual, Multi-cultural Nation? Just because Hindi originated in India, it shouldn't be logical choice that everyone in this country should speak it. I mean doing so, what exactly one trying to PRESERVE? There is already enough Hindi speaking population. In Non-Hindi States English only works as Mediatory language. It preserves local languages as it doesn't impose "National Importance" on them and used only in convenience.

  • @goddalehundibharathraj4374

Diffence between hindi and english is.. hindi is being imposed and a lot of fund is used in its propaganda.. English is an useful aspirational professional language which everyone wants to learn given a chance.

  • @SaikatBasak

"The unbiased one" 😂 people only claim themselves to be unbiased when they know for sure that they ARE biased.

  • @garfielddsouza7781

Thank you for saying this, Vimoh. English is my mother tongue and try as much as I do to make people understand that it is so because that was the language I was brought up with here in India, rarely do people understand... Mostly it's met with a dismissing silence.
