This Regional languages like Gujarati marathi & other south Indian languages. are just a Political Agenda to keep unite their vote bank.
please see the Actual Reality. most of the state in North India. & in India more than 60% 70% Population can Understand Hindi , & more than 40 50% can speak Hindi.
& the other Regional language Divided our india in parts of 5 10% language ratio.
One person of north india can not share his idea & knowledge to south indian person.
because south indian wants their own language & they don't even allow to use other than their Regional language.
we Actually Divided in this Language system.
we should speak in the language in which the other person can understand. but our indian peoples attitude is like use my language otherwise don't speak.
Language is just a path of sharing yours thought with other.

I’m an Aussie Indian, my dad ensured I must learn the basics of Hindi & Punjabi. He invested ( his energy & money) a lot to fulfil his wish. He hired 2 different tutors for me to learn both Indian languages.
I studied Spanish & English at school. I’m so grateful to my dad for putting extra efforts for me to learn my mother tongue.
Trust me, I feel so proud in speaking in Hindi when I visit India. Punjabi is my family’s native language but dad respects Hindi. Actually, he believes every Indian must at least understand Hindi well. I’m not fully agree with it but I don’t argue with him & accept it for the sake of his feelings.
I can communicate, comprehend & write in 4 different languages.
    Hindi, Punjabi, Spanish & English.

Just one thing I would like to say:
"Language is not a scale to measure your intelligence,it's just the medium of communication."
But when it comes to our mother tongue, its not just a language, its a lot more than that; it's an emotion,a sensation and the foundation to which the roots of our very existence, nationality and ethnicity lay in.
Every language has its own beauty and we should always respect it regardless of what others think or say or believe because if you can't respect your mother tongue, you can't respect your nation.

Hindi is not a national language, I am not planning to learn and speak Hindi even though all my peers at Mumbai speak Hindi mixed in Marathi. I communicate with them in English and they can too. English is not a thing of pride, it's a universal language. Most countries speak English, so it becomes a necessity to speak English. It's not mandated so if you don't find English a necessity, you don't have to learn it or speak it. So mandating any language in any form on anybody is a type of harassment and abuse.

Because our love is not necessarily boundation to others. So there is no harm in choosing different languages/cultures. Loving self never means hateful towards others. Selectivity is narrative and entanglement never freedom. Appropriateness is most important.for hindu sanatan ritual we have to know sanskrit, for indian culture we have to know hindi and regional language ,for allopathy medical science we have to choose foreign language, for technology and computer we have to learn jaws,c++ etc.we can not insist and only dependent only on one language. If you are speaking in hindi with a video title in English atleast put subtitles in English. It will help you on reaching wider audience.
People especially the young gen think they are speaking hindi buy actually they are just speaking a mixture of hindi Urdu and English. Many things for which Hindi words are not used frequently they directly use English words. Might be better of you completely learn one language and speak that only.

that's a terrible argument. The countries like China, South Korea, Japan etc became developed not because of the language they speak but because of good governance, better economic measures and the hard work of citizens. Also, all these countries are homogenous means they are not that diverse like India. In China, the hān majority dominates the country so, everyone speaks Chinese there. In Korea everyone is Korean and in Japan, everyone is Japanese. So, it makes sense that they have a national language but that is not the case with India. We have many ethnicities, languages, cultures.
And if I go with your argument then countries like Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Bangladesh should have been developed, why they are still lagging even after having one national language?
