Thanks Rob for this comparative video. Last year bought the 009, loved it. However, bought another dive watch and it got more wrist time, so ended up selling the 009. Last month, sold the dive watch and after watching an excellent video by IDGuy re SKX, I decided to jump back into it, this time getting the 013. Proportionally, for me (6.25" wrist) the 013 works a bit better. I also like the 20mm lug width as I am able to use existing straps, and I also like that the second hand has the lume on the front section. Both versions are equally great. 👍⌚
Bought an SKX007 a week or so ago, finally had the time to get it fitted and I love it. Fits great on my wrist (varies for everyone though). I would however suggest looking in store or wherever you can view one because when I was first looking I thought it would be way too big; before you make your choice just off specs and numbers try one on, it will be worth the hassle and time
One of my dream divers is the SBCM023. An SKX case at 1mm wider and 1mm thinner than the skx013, with an 8F high accuracy perpetual calendar quartz with an 8-10 year battery. Sadly, it is long discontinued and hard to find mint these days.
I have two skx013. One, modded with a 4r35, a sapphire, and a ceramic bezel insert. Also, i do prefer the original jubilee bracelet, because it's very very light.
I am really looking forward to this mod...I think this watch might be a perfect watch for my son and I to share (he has smaller wrists), maybe we could mod one together...Thank you Rob :)
Definitely in for confirmation on whether or not that’s an Alpinist bracelet on the 013 or not. If so, that means the Ginault Ocean Rover adjustable bracelet should fit the 013. That would be an incredible combo.
my stock jubilee on my skx009 still haven't giving up on me, I was waiting to change it to strapcode, one thing I like the oem is the comfort and its not smelly after long use
Looks like the alpinist bracelet. Have one on mine. Actually looks pretty good on the 013. May try it on my 013. Love the 013. Sold all my 0020 case SKXs and got 3 SKX013's to play with.
@@Mr_Ja3 I'll try it and get back to you. My guess is it wont look too good as the end links are squareish in profile and the alpinist lugs are tapered
Is it the same size dial when it is the same movement? I have heard that, the dial from the turtle fits the SKX007 but will it fit a SKX013 as well? Thank you.
Hi Rob! Love your content. Kindly confirm, not all cases of 007/009 are exactly the same. The curvature of the crown guards, particularly the lower crown guards are not the same from one case to another.
Just bought an SKX013. Decided it was better sized for my 6.5” wrist than the 007/009. I also prefer the arrow second hand over the tail lollipop. Photos do not do this watch justice. After wearing it for a few days I fell in love with it. The size is perfect. When I wear my 40-44mm watches now I really feel how needlessly oversized and clunky they are (at least for my small wrists). It’s much better looking in person. Too bad it doesn’t have a 4R36 with hacking/hand-winding which is why I held of buying one for a few years. Otherwise I love this piece. I own all the forum favourites (Monster, NY0040, SARB035, mini-Turtle, etc.) and I think it’s my new favourite (OK I still love my Seiko Monster).
How do you like your citizen? I chose the mako II instead of one of the skxs because of the size, but now I want a rugged diver and been eyeing the nyd because its kinda smaller than the skx009
I want an SKX so much, but am afraid to get one. Every review I see is someone saying it’s a great watch, but then points out all the flaws as if they are horrible. I think when I decide to get one, it’s going to be the 011 or, if I can find one, the A35! Those are the two I want!
I bought mine in mall a bit pricey thought just make sure you check some scratches before you buy it and the run of the movement, chapter ring alignment issue is the signature of the real genuine skx, skx009 is beautiful as it gets older when the bezel insert fades you gotta put a khaki 5 ring zulu strap, all family of skx is great though but just make sure you have a visual check when buying a watch from a physical stores, it's pricey but totally worth it
I own an skx171 from the early 2000s and an 009 from a couple of years ago. For what you pay for them they are great watches. Im not a fan boy. They could def be better but they are that sort of 90s style that is pretty classic and doesn't date. They look good on bracelets and straps and last a long time. I don't think you'd really regret buying one. You could always re-sell it if you did 👍 good luck mate.
Skx013 was too small for me so I sold mine. Great watch though. My preference in size has changed towards smaller since then though, but the 013 is still proportionally too tall IMO.
dand. i got big hands too and i just cant make my mind up but your hooks like mine im going for the 013. had daytona tuna and more so no more banging evrything likr the tuna. out
What's that rattling? Oh it's the bracelets. I don't get the fuss over these watches I have saved my money and bought a Seagull Ocean Star 44mm with a 2824-2 chinese made 28800bph handwinding and hacking movement. Totally solid bracelet. Sapphire chrystal. Nice big easy crown.
Pedro Saenz my cousin was over seas in the middle east somewhere wearing his 007 and some random guy comes up to him at a restaurant and says in rough english, ‘this is skx?’ haha, it’s universal!
Gotta be honest. I fell into the SKX trap. I barely even wear it anymore. I know it’s a 200ish dollar watch but damn the movement in mine is horrendously horrible. Mine gains 7 minutes a day. A DAY!!! I have a first gen Orient Ray that I picked up for 100 bucks 5 years ago that is a few seconds. And I’m sorry but ISO is a scam. It’s just something fancy to put on your paperwork in all industries, not just this watch. There are products that aren’t ISO certified that surpass their specs.
Dude your watch is faulty. Not really a comparison. As another commentor said its likely magnitised. I own an SKX171 and it sat on my wrist for 11 years straight (before i got into watches). Never missed a beat and never had an issue. It now needs a service but hey thats more than fair. As for ISO being a scam... I suggest you go to longislandwatch channel and review some of his watch and learn videos where he actually tests the watch to the standards and its quite interesting.
My skx013 keeps very good time but my goodness it has some alignment issues. I also own an srp777 that gains about 1 sec a day but again, disgraceful alignment issues. Own a skx009 that loses about 10 secs a day but is perfectly aligned. You cant seem to get it all in these watches, apart from my padi turtle, perfect time keeping perfect alignment... some minor scratching on inside of crystal WTF

40mm would have been perfect

I recently purchased back my favorite watch ever the 009j and LOVED IT all over again so much that I sold my SMPc.

Thanks for the comparison. I'm continuing to enoy the modded SKX009. To me it's the perfect size watch.
Love the 009! Put mine on a super jubilee bracelet
I really love mine, but I wish I could put a choke ceramic bezel insert on my SKX 013. Ceramic bezels really improve the look of the watch.

I wonder if the 013 Jubilee would fit on an Alpinist?

How about the Seiko 5 snzf15 Pepsi.? I can’t find any comparison between the snzf15 and the skx009.

really like the strap code oyster on the skx13
looking forward to see that 013 modded!

I am sure there can be some slight variation.

Can't wait to see that 013 mod!
Looks like parts from Adriel at Lucius Atelier. That’ll be a good build. His stuff is top notch.
Yes it’s that
Ah can't wait to see that mod!

Ray. Hit Mike up (over at two broke watch snobs). He has a skx011 for sale. Or build one like I do, that way you are in control of the QC.
Random Rob-Thank you much.

It’s way too thick, like all other Seiko watches

I have the skx009 on an oyster bracelet. Really wish I had the skx007.
cant wait for the finished mod.

re: skx013 great and wearable watch but light blue or green weekdate kills it. ;)
Skx013 is my favourite. Love mid sized divers.
It’s not really mid sized. It’s super thick. It should be much thinner to be midsize
I just traded a 013 for a bronze diver from a micro brand with a seiko movt.. What do yall think of bronze.. Fad or here to stay?
Dunno.. I was thinking about this the other day. I think fad most likely.
Does anyone know if you can get an skx with a kanji dial?
There is no stock skx with kanji day wheel even the j version but there is rare j version with roman numeral .
Long Island watches makes a similar watch
Ill go for Seiko skx009
Skx mania in the USA. Does not happen in other countries.😀
