Best Dive Watch for Small Wrists | Seiko SKX013 Review

- The Seiko SKX013 is my top recommendation for an affordable, automatic dive watch for small wrists. At 38mm, it's the perfect size for men with smaller wrists, but it still has all of the amazing features of its big brothers, the SKX007 and SKX009. Plus, you can find it for less than $250 online!
SEIKO SKX013: geni.us/SKiv2 (Amazon)
Why is this my #1 recommendation for small dive watches? Several reasons: it's a very valuable watch (lots of bang for your buck), it's a true diver (ISO rated for 200m), and it looks proportionate on smaller wrists - without looking dainty.
I took my SKX013 off the stock jubilee bracelet and put it on an aftermarket oyster bracelet (link below). I think the chunky nature of the oyster bracelet works well with this watch. Plus, it's a much higher quality bracelet than the stock jubilee (which felt kind of cheap).

My dad bought an SKX013K back in 2003, he passed away in 2005 and left the watch to me. Still wearing it up to this day, in fact, I'm wearing it now. Miss you dad, great job in choosing the SKX013K.
Great watch, and you have an awesome reason to wear it. Thanks for sharing!
The Modest Man thank you sir! đđ»â€ïž
Luis Gochoco I have a question, how has it been holding up against scratches?
Saruul Myagmar it has several scratches but only visible once you look at it closely, it still looks brand new to be honest, no discoloring whatsoever
I'm sorry about your dad, may he rest in peace.
I'm 6' with a 6 3/4" left wrist and the 013 is my current daily wear sport watch. It's a great watch. The 38mm gives it a vintage vibe that I prefer over the larger 007. I too took it off the subpar Seiko bracelet and wear it on a two piece black Nato style band. Your Strap Code looks great too. Great video.
I bought this watch a couple of years ago and I absolutely love it! Will definitely stay in my collection forever. The sizing is just perfect for my fairly slim wrists. I just wish they made a pepsi version!
Hey man, just want to say thx for the video. Picked up the exact watch and the strapcode bracelet. The watch fits literally with any outfit, other than my suit. Cheers!
I have been subscribed to this channel for a bit now and never watched a video. This content is fantastic. Very professional and laid back at the same time. Keep it up!
Great review. Just bought mine at Amazon. Cant wait now
I just purchased this watch for $280 in nearly new condition and I love it. Such a timeless piece.
What a steal!
Great review! I have its older brother SKX031 since 2004, it is 39mm in diameter and the winder is at 3 rather than 4 and comes with an oyster strap. It still keeps great time!
Managed to find one today that was not overpriced. Very happy, simply the best looking watch in my opinion
Great video!!!! I appreciate the time, effort, and good info invested.
Iâve owned one for about a decade, and itâs never let me down. Like you say, I also wear mine when Iâm swimming at the beach. Iâve used different straps, but my favorite is a simple, blue NATO strap. Definitely my favorite watch.
is the watch still with you?
Have had an 013 a couple years and love it. I find that it's my go to watch when I want something that isn't heavy on my wrist.
Irma Loderick how is the accuracy of ur skx013 now
Other tip for small wrists: Seiko Baby Turtle srpc37 or srpc39 - divers with 42mm diameter but crazy small lug-to-lug size...it easily works for 6inch wrists and up
I have a small wrist and looking for a smaller divers watch. Came across your video and i just purchased it and its on its way. So excited. Thank for the great video!
Glad I could help! Here are some other great options - theslenderwrist.com/dive-watches-for-small-wrists/
Brock, this is an amazing watch. I've had it for about 6 months now. I wear it everyday.
+gamebasher93 đđŒ
Love the new setup! I might need to add this watch to my watch collection, I have small wrists and it might suit me like you mentioned
Style Your Life Cool channel brah. Subscribed!
Thanks! Yeah man, get it. You'll love it.
Tyrone E awesome!
I ordered one last week and itâs arriving any time now I canât fking wait!
how's it working out?
I wish they would make more divers this size...it's perfect, even if you have larger wrists.
Seriously. There are some, though: www.themodestman.com/best-dive-watches-for-small-wrists/
The Modest Man thanks. I checked the watches, but I guess I'm spoiled by the price and quality of Seiko but the watches you listed were out of my price range aside from the invicta...and the invicta is a quartz. I don't mind quartz, but I just want an automatic diver around 37-38 for around $150-200. the skx013 is a great watch but there's no variety...I would love some additional color options.
Tony Wong Vostok Amiphibian maybe?
@@tonywong8134 You could mod it, I just bought a skx013 but will change the bezel. There are sites out there making different dials, hands, bezels and bezel inserts and more.
no , dive watches should make in 42mm and above . dress watch could go 30 ->38 . no way i am diving with small watches its make no sense with the eyes . my wrist is 19.2 cm too
Thanks for your review,I just pulled the trigger for one and Iam sure it will be as expected.
Youâre going to love it!
Nice video, I have that exact model and I love it. The 013 is really the only good dive watch from what I can tell for people that need 40 mm or under. I would also recommend an oyster bracket as it looks way better than Seiko's rubber and jubilee.
Redford wears the Skx009 with pepsi bezel
still a fake gmt insert ...
I have one of these. Always get complimented on it.
I am going to buy this one..thanks for reviewing this watch..
Thanks for sharing this video, this is going to be my next purchase with either a nato or canvas strap
Excellent review of this SKX đ â!!! đđđ
In love with your new studio. đ
I have the SKX013 and I quite like the Jubilee strap. Yes, it's rattly and snaky but I don't think I'l replace it for a while. When I do it will be for a black leather, white stitch buckle strap.
I have a few good automatic watches but I don't have a diver . I love Seiko watches . I think will get this one . Thanks .
Great choice. I own the Orient FAA02004B Ray II. It looks a lot like this one. Some people even thought I was wearing a Rolex, until I let them look at the logo from up close. Both watches are perfect choices for people who have small wrists.
Awesome review. Could you tell which sunglasses are these in the video, love them
?
Great video. I just bought the watch. I love it!!
Great video! Have everything but a dive watch, going to have to get me one of these!
+Curtiss Wu doooo itttttt
Awesome watch. Didn't know there were automatic options like this at a lower price point..
My wrist is 6". Small wrist by any standard. The SKX013 was my 1st watch and I totally agree - awesome fit for small wrists. It's substantial enough to wear smart/bus-casual and jeans/shorts. Looks appropriate with most my outfits. Not too expensive so I don't obsess over scratches. I love it.
+pborkstrom well said!
Have my skx013 on an olive nato, but after watching this has vid I'm definitely going to get the oyster bracelet :)
Hey! nice review! I gotta a question about the watch, how much does it last running if you take it off? thanks a lot!
very helpful review!
I love everything about it except the bezel. I find it's a bit too chunky for me, I'd like it to be sorta chamfered along the outer edge.
That was a great review ! Thanks !
I've wanted to pick one up forever. As it stands, I've been wearing a marathon midsize auto for about five years now. It's still a very affordable watch with unbelievable value for money.
Still wearing and liking the marathon?
great review, thanks
How does do with actually keeping time? I've heard they can vary a lot.
I like how your posted photos of you wearing this watch with different outfits
Great video Bro đđŸ
Nice video , nice Strap and I'm glad to be Stylish .
I have prettyyy small wrists and this is a huge contender for my next watch purchase
+Li am đđ»
Iâm considering it because of the 007. I tried the skx17 sea urchin boy it felt heavy and it was big on my wrist,
good choice! how to maintain watch and bracelet.thanks!
Amazing! Could anyone tell me where I can buy it? I can't find it in amazon
Love the content!
Thanks!
Great. I am interested in it.
Keep up the good work brock
Thanks, will do!
What is the difference between the skx007k2 and the skx013k2? Is it just the size and the hands? Is the form of the bezel and of the whole watch exactly the same?
What sound device/interface are you using (under the mic)
What about Swiss army maverick??
great vid ,.. got one today.
What about the skx173 at 40mm is it still too big for smaller wrist?
Where can I find a replacement bracelet for my srpe61?
Hi Brock, may I ask how tight do you wear your watch?
Hey Brock could you do a brand review for next clothing . I just wanna know ,is that a cool brand for shorter guys.
Nice review
How about that watch's anti magnetic? Do you know how much the watch can handle magnetic?
Do you still have a link for the oyster strap? Where can I find it
i wear mine with a black rubber strap. badass watch. get lots of compliment
another good and affordable choice is the Invicta 8926ob, it uses a Seiko automatic movement. 40mm case, 20mm bracelet, under $100 at Amazon.
This watch is a great find since it almost has similar specs to the vintage 62MAS. So get it when you can, while you can.
I got the SNK 805 and the Linjer Minimalist off your recommendations and I now want this watch :)
Brock, seeing as how you just ditched the stock metal strap would you recommend to get the rubber strap version and buy the oyster strap so you have both options? Instead of having a useless stock strap
Sounds like a nice collection so far! If you're definitely going to get a replacement band, I would get whichever is cheaper (probably the rubber). Otherwise, go with the jubilee (it's not that bad).
conradwasalski4200 I have the SNK809 and SKX013, buy it on the bracelet and add some NATO's and you're good to go. I buy 20mm straps and also use them on the snk to switch things up (even tho 18mm lug with). Makes the watch took better! Love both but SKX is my favourite!
Magnus Jensen how do you use a 20mm strap on the SNK ? I just got my SNK809 yesterday and I'm looking forward to purchase a 18mm leather strap for the more 'dressy' look
conradwasalski4200 before you start talking BS about the jubilee bracelet how about trying it first. There's nothing wrong with it, it's comfortable as it's much more flexible than oyster etc. It also is one of the things that make the SKX what it is, if I wanted something more modern looking I'd get one of the SRPs or similar.
hi what's the lug to lug on this?
âJust listen to thatâ... when subtle clicks make you excited.
I really liked you doing watch review.
+Luiz Henrique Caldas thanks!
I know this video about watches, but have you heard of the new slim fit jeans by Ash and Anvil (Ash and Erie now), and do you think you will try out a pair?
Got a pair on the way right now...
Nice!!!
i bought this watch when you mentioned it in one of your past videos, its my first and only watch so far, open to more suggestions (dope bracelet by the way looks better than original)
+eldominicano217 amazing first watch!
Bummer it seems like Seiko discontinued the SKX013. Any suggestions for other similarly-sized dive watches (â€40mm case)?
Yes. Well respected
how does it keeps the time?
Can you review the SKX 033 ... ?
Get an Islander 38. Hand made by Marc at Long Island Watch. 300 bucks (cheaper than an skx013) with a lumed ceramic bezel, drilled lugs, sapphire ar coated crystal, solid bracelet (Strap code I believe). Can't beat the price because the SKX013 is crazy now. I paid 360 for my skx009 and a strap code lmao.
I'm thinking of purchasing this watch. However, I worry that I can't set the time precisely when I need it (I work on a ship and we often synchronize our watches before a difficult passage). Any thoughts?
You canât easily set it to the second (although it is possible). If thatâs something youâll be doing all the time, Iâd recommend finding a different watch.
Brock, your videos are getting better and better, I love the new setup and I really love your laptop stand but I don't think its in the "MY GEAR" Section of the description, do you think you could tell me what it is?
Also what did you do to your forearm?
Thanks! The stand is from a company called Grovemade (it's the walnut color). Will link it up in future videos. I fell off a skateboard and cut up my arm and leg. It was a ...learning experience.
Cool thanks! I'll look into getting one for myself, it'll match my desk! I hope your arm and legs heal up nicely, at least you got the experience...I guess?
Yes, already healing. Had to skip a couple of workouts, but I'm back on the board and feeling good. All part of the process!
Is this watch discontinued? I can only find them used
Whatâs your wrist size, and did you have to get it fitted
Iâm bit confused between seiko skx013 and Tissot prc 200 not sure which one should I buy seiko is all about heritage and quality and Tissot is all about Swiss .. canât decide.. help me out please if anyone can ..??
Both are great choices. You can't go wrong with either. Just depends on you: do you want a diver or a chrono? Also, the 013 is a smaller watch, and it's automatic (vs. the quartz Tissot).
If I want this persej what is prosijer
what oyster bracelet is this on?
I want to buy one but i just find the Seiko SKX013 K2 .. is it the same thing ? thanks for your videos
Yup this is the K2 version.
I just order mine after a lot of research, I'm also getting the vintage version ( the SKX031) from Klein vintage watches, thanks for the review, I enjoy your videos I have probably seen all of them.
Nice, enjoy it!
Great video, great watch. The only design problem is that it's 'too thick' (as said on the video), technically the movement is a little outdated (no hacking, no hand winding), if none of these are problems, anyone with small wrists (like me) will not find a better affordable, small 'truly' diver automatic watch, period.
Humberto Ramos Costa ...but what country is the watch from? Any idea?
I never saw any skx013 from Japan, the 'made in japan' models ends with an J (like SKX007J), but even it is disputed, people say that the movements are made overseas and the watch is only assembled in Japan (if so). Anyway with the affordable Seiko divers every comparison i saw say that there is no difference in quality from the J and K versions.
Humberto Ramos Costa thank you
Good video, Brock, as always. I already own the Orient Mako II, so I have to wait a while to get this. The wifey will not be impressed if I get another watch now.
And I understand why one of the guys said you sound like a Disney character. The way you lower and raise your voice .....
Yeah I just picked up the Hamilton Khaki Mechanical. This watch thing is addictive...
i've been wondering, does this come w/ a pepsi bezel and a dark blue dial? having a slender wrist, it's either this or the pepsi sea urchin
I donât think so...
what is considered a small wrist? my wrist is 7 inches... would a 43mm dive watch work well on my watch?
Looks sweet im buying one
Could you make a video on skin care? Because your skin looks really clear.
+James Slater check out my latest skin care routine video!
I have the wrist 17 cm in circumference. Which advises me:
skx013 or skx007?
Thank you
Iâd go 013
I have a 7 inch wrist and was wandering if this would be a good fit or if I should go with the a larger watch, such as the 007
I like smaller watches but for you the 007 or 009 would look fine. Kind of depends on your preference.
The Modest Man ok thanks
I just got mine today..thanks to my wife..my first ever real watch..
For girls wht should we buy for small wrist?
Hello! I have a 6.75 inch wrist. I am confused about "small" wrist. Can you please clarify the measurement? Will you mind mentioning yours?
+Ali Mouad mine is just under 6.5" around.
The Modest Man Thank you. It will be helpful.
Hello Brock,
I really like your review of the SKX013! I'm really looking into buying a diver for myself and am a bit in love with the Seiko SKXs. I Have pretty small wrists as well (around 16cm or 6.3 inch) and I really don't know, which watch I should choose. On your wrist the 013 looks awesome, but I ordered an Invicta 8932 (almost identical in size) to see how it looks on me. The Invicta seems really, really small, almost like a Lady's watch, but the 007 might be too big. Sadly Seiko stopped producing the SKX031, which had 40mm in diameter and would probably be perfect for me. Which watch should I order?
I'm going to buy an SNK809 as well: with a nice leather strap, domed sapphire, and polished case, but I want something bigger "just in case".
I would definitely go with the 013 and not the 007 if I were you đđ»
Awesome video man!! I want to buy this watch but on Amazon I see something K1 and K2 version? What version is this one that you have and what is the difference if you know ? Thank you
The only difference is the band that it comes with. Mine has the jubilee bracelet. I believe k1 is a rubber strap.
@@BrockMcGoff Thank you! I have been trying to figure out the difference between the K1 and the K2 for a while now, because I'm planning on getting the watch with a rubber strap and switching it out for the oyster bracelet.
Modest Man....id like to ask whats d advantage if its hackable or windable? Please explain
Hand windable means you can manually wind it up, rather than letting it wind itself with movement. Hacking means the second hand stops when you set it, so you can synchronize it to an exact time source.
