Best Dive Watch for Small Wrists | Seiko SKX013 Review

  • The Seiko SKX013 is my top recommendation for an affordable, automatic dive watch for small wrists. At 38mm, it's the perfect size for men with smaller wrists, but it still has all of the amazing features of its big brothers, the SKX007 and SKX009. Plus, you can find it for less than $250 online!
    SEIKO SKX013: geni.us/SKiv2 (Amazon)
    Why is this my #1 recommendation for small dive watches? Several reasons: it's a very valuable watch (lots of bang for your buck), it's a true diver (ISO rated for 200m), and it looks proportionate on smaller wrists - without looking dainty.
    I took my SKX013 off the stock jubilee bracelet and put it on an aftermarket oyster bracelet (link below). I think the chunky nature of the oyster bracelet works well with this watch. Plus, it's a much higher quality bracelet than the stock jubilee (which felt kind of cheap).

    My dad bought an SKX013K back in 2003, he passed away in 2005 and left the watch to me. Still wearing it up to this day, in fact, I'm wearing it now. Miss you dad, great job in choosing the SKX013K.

    I'm 6' with a 6 3/4" left wrist and the 013 is my current daily wear sport watch. It's a great watch. The 38mm gives it a vintage vibe that I prefer over the larger 007. I too took it off the subpar Seiko bracelet and wear it on a two piece black Nato style band. Your Strap Code looks great too. Great video.

      The Modest Man thanks. I checked the watches, but I guess I'm spoiled by the price and quality of Seiko but the watches you listed were out of my price range aside from the invicta...and the invicta is a quartz. I don't mind quartz, but I just want an automatic diver around 37-38 for around $150-200. the skx013 is a great watch but there's no variety...I would love some additional color options.

      conradwasalski4200 before you start talking BS about the jubilee bracelet how about trying it first. There's nothing wrong with it, it's comfortable as it's much more flexible than oyster etc. It also is one of the things that make the SKX what it is, if I wanted something more modern looking I'd get one of the SRPs or similar.

    I just order mine after a lot of research, I'm also getting the vintage version ( the SKX031) from Klein vintage watches, thanks for the review, I enjoy your videos I have probably seen all of them.

    Great video, great watch. The only design problem is that it's 'too thick' (as said on the video), technically the movement is a little outdated (no hacking, no hand winding), if none of these are problems, anyone with small wrists (like me) will not find a better affordable, small 'truly' diver automatic watch, period.

      Humberto Ramos Costa ...but what country is the watch from? Any idea?

      I never saw any skx013 from Japan, the 'made in japan' models ends with an J (like SKX007J), but even it is disputed, people say that the movements are made overseas and the watch is only assembled in Japan (if so). Anyway with the affordable Seiko divers every comparison i saw say that there is no difference in quality from the J and K versions.

    Good video, Brock, as always. I already own the Orient Mako II, so I have to wait a while to get this. The wifey will not be impressed if I get another watch now.
    And I understand why one of the guys said you sound like a Disney character. The way you lower and raise your voice .....

    Hello Brock,
    I really like your review of the SKX013! I'm really looking into buying a diver for myself and am a bit in love with the Seiko SKXs. I Have pretty small wrists as well (around 16cm or 6.3 inch) and I really don't know, which watch I should choose. On your wrist the 013 looks awesome, but I ordered an Invicta 8932 (almost identical in size) to see how it looks on me. The Invicta seems really, really small, almost like a Lady's watch, but the 007 might be too big. Sadly Seiko stopped producing the SKX031, which had 40mm in diameter and would probably be perfect for me. Which watch should I order?
    I'm going to buy an SNK809 as well: with a nice leather strap, domed sapphire, and polished case, but I want something bigger "just in case".

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  Pƙed 5 lety +1

      I would definitely go with the 013 and not the 007 if I were you đŸ‘đŸ»

    Awesome video man!! I want to buy this watch but on Amazon I see something K1 and K2 version? What version is this one that you have and what is the difference if you know ? Thank you

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  Pƙed 5 lety +1

      The only difference is the band that it comes with. Mine has the jubilee bracelet. I believe k1 is a rubber strap.

      @@BrockMcGoff Thank you! I have been trying to figure out the difference between the K1 and the K2 for a while now, because I'm planning on getting the watch with a rubber strap and switching it out for the oyster bracelet.

    Modest Man....id like to ask whats d advantage if its hackable or windable? Please explain

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  Pƙed 6 lety

      Hand windable means you can manually wind it up, rather than letting it wind itself with movement. Hacking means the second hand stops when you set it, so you can synchronize it to an exact time source.
