Lewis was faster in his first season, so that puts a strong vote of confidence there
On one lap pace, has to be Lewis. On overall race pace, pretty tough one to pick

Let's put this into perspective:
We're watching a video on a CZcams channel of an F1 world champion, talking to an F1 world champion. So we get to listen to 2 people who were at the highest point in motorsport talking about their fears, successes and failures. Both well off and successful post F1, and yet they make a CZcams video. Wow, what a time to be alive. Thank you both for taking the time out, and thank you Nico for making it possible.
TOTALLY!
Incredible indeed. Thank you Nico!
And one of the best interviews Nico has done.
And one of the best interviews Nico has done.
Two cheaters, envious of a driver who beat them both soundly and made them feel so inadequate, they need to cheat.
They should just count to ONE HUNDRED and suck it up.
The amount of respect for Fernando even though he only has 1 more championship than these guys speaks itself. A talent the numbers can't do justice.
Alonso should of been a 5 time world champion
@@DavidRodriguez-fw5ee by that logic, Lewis shouldâve been a 9 time world champion
Karan Braria Youâre right, praising Alonso though isnât at the expense of Hamilton though, vice versa
@@TROD.. Iâm just saying. Shoulda woulda coulda doesnât matter in any sport. The end result does
Karan Braria Youâre right, thatâs why this is all speculative. The point of this is to distinguish their qualities as drivers, in the end each came to a conclusion, but a difficult one nonetheless. Goes to show you how difficult of a sport F1 can be.

Youâre a real one Nico. Seen the emotion when Jens was talking about his old man. đđŸ everyday I become more of a fan of you Nico.
same here. such a great guy
Same here! Wasn't his fan at all during his driving career, but totally changed my mind about him in the past 2 years. A very decant, polite, humble and wise man he became. I have a very deep respect for him having heard all the things he's been through for achieving his goal... Big, big man Nico is!
@@adammesic Same here, exactly the same. I appreciate that his demons, public opinion and Lewis brought the absolute worst out of him, but since he left he's mellowed into a nice bloke. I'm so pleased about this Nico, and I don't want this to take from the respect that I have grown for you in this one cast alone.
I guess a lot of it was about the adrenaline and the sheer frustration of being beaten at virtually every point when by rights, given almost any other driver as a teammate, he should have been multiple world champion.
Seeing these two together, given the similarities between them, Jenson was still by far the better driver, better winner and importantly better loser while still driving. Perhaps it is age, or expectation, or even how the British press presented your actions after all Lewis is still F1's golden child. I met Jenson in Ireland a few years ago when doing a promo in Dublin, and he was the nicest bloke. I hope to meet you, Nico, and Lewis and Fernando before much longer as the four of you are by a long way the biggest inspiration to me when I'm on track.
@@adriandurn5903 Agree with much but Jensen admitted to perhaps even more consternation with teammates; he just hid it better. And I'm another one who booed Nico but have become a big fan. This was the best I've seen yet. Vettel was another I changed my mind about. And I saw a bit by Driver61 on Mazepin and the terrible management at Haas that made me see him as an actual person (and wonder if some incidents in his past were a result of negative forces on him). Like most, I still want someone to boo but I'm becoming afraid to hate on a driver lest I find out later he's human. Maybe I'll just buck the trend and hate on Danny Ricc.
@@seasidescott disliking your teammates isn't a crime, but, and if Jenson had more powerful feelings about Lewis and Fernando than Nico did then it strengthens my point, Nico shunned Lewis off track and drove badly to spite him, Jenson never did. Being a better loser isn't the same as just accepting the status quo and being happy about it, it's about still having that desire to win and at least appearing happy for your colleagues when you don't.

28:45 Nico casually flexing how good he was at qualifying against Lewis đ I love it
He is the only one in the history of teammate battle against Lewis that could ever match and trade blows in qualifying pace. Mad he could do that repeatedly! Over the many races they had, Hamilton is above by like 6 times. That's very marginal for like the ~80races they had together.
@@MelonAMango oh yeah Nico has every right to brag about his achievements. Incredible driver. I just love how he pretends to not remember it when we all know that he studied all of his statistics against Lewis. Confidence without cockiness haha

Enjoyed listening. Jens is such a nice guy. Good that he won the Championship at the end, as he was always a great driver đđ»
yea Jenson is cool
For a bit of context, Hamilton and Alonso faced JB in totally different circumstances. The teammate pairings are not comparable at all.
Hamilton/JB were in a competitive McLaren. They won loads of races(18) fighting at the front of the field against RB and Ferrari over 3 years from 2010-2012. It was a high pressure, high stakes period where they had so much to fight for and this is what gives their teammate pairing a higher status than the norm. They had a legit memorable rivalry. So many great battles and wins between them and their relationship was tested because because they were actually fighting for something.
Alonso/JB were in a joke of a McLaren car. A complete crapbox fighting for absolutely nothing at the back of the field. They never even scored a single podium in the 2 years they were teammates from 2015-2016. Thy basically just did test sessions every race because the car was so bad and the reliability was awful. It was a horrendous period in both JB's and Alonso's careers and they simply did not build any kind of real rivalry at all. It was an embarrassing joke of a time for both of the former world champions who were used to winning and fighting at the front of the field.
That's why they are not comparable. JB did not fight Alonso for anything. His relationship with Alonso was never tested in the same way it was against Hamilton with race wins on the line. Do people really think Button and Alonso would have been so friendly if they fought each other for race wins? Not a chance.
Alonso owned button in mclaren
@@sunritroykarmakar4406 Hence why they are saying it's not comparable
Yes they would be this friendly. Theyâre mature and elite professionals not little school boys, grow up.
It would be nice to have a podcast with Vettel or Fernando

When Jenson was asked about his teamates he spoke 95 % of the time about Alonso and 5 % about Hamilton... Alonso probably dont got much tittles but he is a legend.
yes, well described. Respect.
Alonso đȘđŒđȘđŒ
Couldn't bring himself to accept Lewis made right decision AND was a better driver than him.
Button took over team from Hamilton, played the politics and had Whitmarsh favouring him as No1...which helped Lewis go to Mercedes. Button secretly thinks he's as good but can't say it now the titles and figures blow him away....JB was great after he was gifted a championship, too much partying by that. He'd never have won his first championship in a dog fight
@@hamonryechinaski180 same for Crymilton...or he never "plays the politics"?
With the superiority of that Mercedes half of the grip can win a championship....his Mercedes is even more dominant than the Brawn...
I donât like Alonso at all but heâs the closest driver that remind me of Senna pure talent
Nonsense. JB used to talk about Hamilton all the time. I can distinctly remember how often the media would ask him about his partnership with Hamilton after they were teammates when Hamilton left for Mercedes and then when JB retired he started his new career as a TV pundit and was always talking about Hamilton on Sky TV. His initial post F1 career was built on talking about Hamilton.
Alonso was JB's last teammate. That's why Alonso became part of the discussion after JB had already talked about Hamilton a million times.
Also, JB and Hamilton used to actually win races and battle at the front of the field. They won 18 races for McLaren over 3 years. It was a legendary McLaren teammate pairing. Alonso vs JB was a pathetic teammate "battle" in a crap car fighting for absolutely nothing at the back of the field. They never even scored a podium. It was an awful time in both of their careers Do not compare the two because they are not in the same league at all.
As mentioned in other comments, watching a YT video with 2 world champions talking about the sport is absolutely thrilling as a fan.
