      What has prevented Alonso from achieving true greatness as an F1 racing driver, is having been seduced by 'The Dark Side'.
      His character failings are well documented and ultimate trust in his judgement will sadly, always elude him.
      "You can't teach an old dog new tricks!"
      Max also has his foibles. He's still in the process of losing his 'bull in a China shop' aggressiveness when wheel to wheel and not trusting to his acquired skill on the track.
      The time to judge is when he no longer has exclusive access to 'The Best Car' at RedBull; as happened to then 2xF GP WDC TITLE HOLDER Alonso, in 2007, when losing out to rookie team mate Hamilton at McLaren.
      OK, so here's a prospective scenario: RedBull Racing implodes as a team, after the exit of Christian Horner, despite the efforts of Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Albon.

      Luck?
      In 2007, 2010 and 2012 he had no reliability issues while his competitors had a lot of reliability issues.
      In 2005 he only won because Kimi had numerous reliability issues.
      Where exactly has Alonso been unlucky in those 3 seasons?
      You want to talk about Spa 2012 then Vettel got taken out in Malaysia by a lapped car, lost a win in Valencia due to broken engine, started from the pitlane in Abu Dhabi. Hamilton lost tons of wins in 2012 due to reliability issues.

When he starts to work with the engineers, the car starts to get stuck and his teammates cannot drive it. That's the big Fernando's fault he cannot transmit good feelings to his engineers.

    Nice video! I believe that the next F1 regulation changes will make F1 all about engines again, I prefer the actual era or the era previous to the hybrid engines. It will be very hard for teams to race with the engines they use were weak, aero is something easier to fix, just see McLaren last year.

    • @danny7694
      @danny7694 Před 2 měsíci

      Aero packages work in tandem with the engine, if you have a bulky inefficient engine layout/design chances are that you're not leaving enough space for your aero engineers to do the work needed (alpine for example) and you fall behind. I can see how you think aero is easier to fix but if you have large fundamental problems like engine cooling etc, your options are slimmer. So no, it is not perse easier to make the aero work on a car then the engine. Both of them have to tick like clockwork to make a championship winning car, the driver is the final piece in that. Look at Checo and Max difference.

    • @jrgq
      @jrgq Před 2 měsíci

      @@danny7694 I totally agree with you! What I mean is that during some time the team if a little bit more power and reliability must reign. Remember 2014 all the problems that the Renault engine had, this could happen again with some engine supplier and like in 2014, a good aero package could be unsuccessful because it is not backed by a decent engine.

    Although I think Fernando is one of the greatest, let's not forget he was beaten by Lewis in his rookie year at McLaren (but barely) and by Esteban Ocon last year (with some bad luck). Is he better than Senna? I don't know...

    People who say max or lewis is better than alonso are really just hype fans. Just follows the train. Alonso is the best driver by far. He is made of drivers of yesteryear. From the 70s-80s mold. Wherever alonso goes. He ALWAYS makes a mid tier car able to make it to the top
