Just want to say thank you 🙏✨ I didn’t think this would get many views at all when I posted it, but the original song resonated with me so much 🥹 and I wanted to give a representation of it in my native language 💕✨ reading through these comments from other people I’ve cried quite a bit and I’m really grateful for the response so thank you x
Emma Kok brought me here and I am so glad that it happened! Beautiful cover in English giving me a whole new appreciation of this beautiful French song (I don't do French). Thank you for your wonderful interpretation. Xx
Well, it's not the same words, the same temperament, the same self-consciousness. It is a bad interpretation: which stays too long on the poet's self-perceived shortcomings and sacrifices the cry of appeal.
You did a great job. I don't speak French. I copied the leadsheet from a sheet music site. What you say about the notes matching the syllables in the lyrics is right on. By using what you did I was able to recall the melody and play the piece pretty well. Thank you. P.S.: for anyone with a digital piano, it sounds just great when you layer strings on the piano. PPS: I subscribed to your site and gave it a thumbs up,----both for your performance of the song + the translation.
@@elenamayamusic It's deserved. You spent time on creating something that's very helpful for (I'm sure many) people like me. Glad I discovered your channel. Wish U much success.
Yeahh a direct ‘word by word’ translation wouldn’t fit perfectly with the syllables unfortunately x did my best to be as accurate to the original as I could and keeping the same intentions behind the words 🩵
Lin-Manuel Miranda explains it really well hehe, when he was translating Hamilton into other languages they had to do an ‘interpretation’ of the lyrics and try keep them as close to the English meaning while keeping the same rhyming scheme and intonation x
@@tommykennedy4655 she’s not changing anyone’s anything. She’s trying to convey the general sentiment of the song through interpretation via her own cover of the song in her own language. When you do a literal translation it comes out garbled and weird because that’s not how language works.
It’s a shame the singer only likes the people who said it was great in English she should be a bit more humble as no on said bad things about her just that they preferred it in French after all it’s s French song. Did she think her version was better 🤔🇬🇧

Régarde-moi is look at me
It sounds better that way, she surely knows what it means. Moreover it gives the very same meaning.
This not what words original lyrivs translate to in english

I don't think the words are translated right lol just saying 😂😂
Yeah haha they aren’t exactly ‘word for word’ as I wasn’t able to fit them with the syllables 😅🫶 but hopefully captured the essence of the original 🥰

@tommykennedy4655 That’s not the point though just saying 🤓🤓
@@T00FAST4L0VE yea just change her lyrics why not
