This was a heck of a lot more than 75,000 customers. It definitely was a cyber attack. As my service carrier uses AT&T lines, my service died right at 4 AM.

😁 Now I'm more interested why thousands of costumers called in Verizon and TMobile outages when those companies said nothing was wrong with their services ?

They all lie. I had an outage not just at at&t but also another ISP that gives me my home internet and whenever there's an outage they would tell me there is none. That way they can send out a tech and charge me $100 to have a guy look around and go uhhh.... welll I tried everything I can do. You should replace your equipment it's old. then run out the door to their work van and drive back for me to call them again and they would send out another tech that is level 2. to charge another $100 and then a tech level 3 which they tell me are network engineers. I would then in-between my appointments see homes down my street that have the same company have techs come out too. So, if 10 homes in the same area calls in at least 10 times that's just $1,000 in just service call fees. Also if each of us call 3 different times it would be 3k and that just my area. They lie so they can charge you for your service call. If they said there's an outage they cannot legally charge you for service calls.

Well, it could be because of they may be roaming or in a select few instances it may be a fault in protocol they call peering this technology or protocol is responsible for handing off traffic to other networks

@@liberty2four2 There is truth to what you said, but in this case, all service was down - including 911. Even in normal circumstances, if you're in an area without any cellular coverage and your cell phone doesn't have Wifi calling (and/or it isn't connected to a wifi hotspot) or emergency satellite communications (like what newer iPhones have), 911 won't work.

The U.S. should scholarship computer programmers, and software + computer hardware engineers to prep an "army" of anti-hackers going forward!
Also, our Emergency Preparedness plans should add minimum distances between public access hard - line phones (under & above ground easily repaired wiring) that can be run "off line" if needed.

At&T will never disclose what truly took their service down. That would be commiting suicide to reveal a vulnerability in their infrastructure. At best they will blame it on everything other than what the real cause was.
if you're old enough to remember, back when Verizon was launching their 4g lte network, they went through the same thing, outages nation wide for several hours. So why is this a much more talked about story? Because more and more people have become solely dependent on these stupid devices rather than face to face interactions.
For me, I enjoyed the silence. It was refreshing not to hear a chime, or a ding, or a chirp all day while working.

Yea, back to having 1 bar of service and occasional no service, but having no service for a couple of hours straight here in Missouri, does happen once a year. AT&T doesn't like to fix their towers, even after the hailstorm we had in April last year.
Also, did anyone ever get an "IPAWS required weekly test" on November 9th at 11am here in Missouri?
