Loving the frequency of uploads....please keep at it, looking forward to this project progressing 🙂
Thanks. The plan is to show just about every part of this car coming back to life. I have plenty more video ideas yet to come.
Looking very good! I can’t believe how thin that metal got. Glad you caught that!
I saw a good Amount of rust before blasting but i was surprised when it came back from the blaster how thin it was. The rest of the frame looks great. Crazy how these cars all rust in different places.
@@VinylVillageGarage that is so very true!
Great job! your welds look better than the factory welds that i have on my subframe. Glad you shared this for everyone to see. Keep up the great work, and cant wait to see this bird fly again.
Well those factory welds where not good but they did work for over 50 years, thanks for your continued support, looking forward to an update on your bird as well.
nice work and welding Jon. I have a couple of Nova subframes to blast and paint as well. I will pay attention to this area for sure. Thanks for sharing.
We all see the body mounts rot out, from what I have seen the control arm mounts are the second weak link so definitely worth checking out.
Great job buddy that came out looking good and strong just like that crossmember I welded up can't wait for more videos
Thanks buddy, I need to master flux core wire like you now. 😎
@@VinylVillageGarage lol 😆 😂 I love that I can do both
Good job, I would be more confident in your new weld patch than the factory’s. I will definitely look closely at this area on my 67. Thanks.
I was a bit disappointed in the contamination in the factory welds. I am certain this will out last the rest of the car.
Happy weekend Jon,
Another good how to.
The leaf color is peaking here.
You should drop the top and take a cruise.😎
Thanks, the leafs are changing here too. I agree drop the top and take the kids to the ice cream shop!
As always great work Jon! Your welding skills are pretty good. Of course you've seen pictures of mine so I'm not sure I'm the best judge :P
Thanks buddy, I am
Sure they improve every time you weld plus the important part is you are out there getting it done. Making great progress on that bird. Only thing you should not mess with is those cylinder heads. You should just give them to me just like the dash clock😉
@@VinylVillageGarage You can pick them up when you drop off my 455!
Lol you sure drive a hard bargain
Looks great John, your videos keep me motivated to work on mine! Thank you.
Thanks Scott! We had a list of goals with our channel and one of them was to help keep people motivated or inspire them to start a project. Glad to know it is working
Good you have the face shield. Now you need to add the respirator. The dust off those grinding wheels is not good for you. Not my business though. Great video as usual.
Good idea! need to stick around as long as possible to save as many birds as I can
Welding is "way" over my limited skill set! I really enjoy watching the progress of your build. Keep the GREAT videos coming!
Appreciate you taking the time to let me know how we are doing. I love fixing these old birds and hoping to share this experience with anyone the best I can. Thanks again
Great work there, Jon. Appreciate the documentation of your restoration. How's the motor coming?
I have an answer for that problem and i feel it’s going to work out great! I do appreciate you sending Wes my way too. Cool guy to visit with! Thanks again
Great video, thought for a second you were going to break out a 1/8 7018 low hydrogen, great job on the repair, if you know where I can find a passenger’s side front goat horn for a subframe let me know please .
Lol. I never got great at stick welding, I get by but never perfected it. As for the subframe bits nothing comes to mind, yet. I will keep you posted if I find anything
@@VinylVillageGarage Thank You, I guess the battery acid leaked on it when it was parked for 30 years or so and made it paper thin , just the goat horn the rest is good
@@davidbisnette7673 you are probably right about the battery acid. It reeks havoc on metal
What kind of metal sheet did you used?
1/8” plate, again patching a frame is a do at your own risk. And if it’s severely rusted might look into a replacement one.
@@VinylVillageGarage Thanks. But what kind, galvanized, mild steel, etc.
