Lamborghini Diablo Review - What's it like to drive the maddest car of the '90s?

  • Lamborghini had a hit with the Countach. It's radical design stopped traffic and arguably set a new benchmark in how far supercars could push the limits of sensibility.
But it was truly awful to drive, with factory workers famously sitting on the side sill with the door open to reverse the car because there was such poor rear visibility.
For the Countach's successor, Lamborghini needed to provide the wild nature of the Countach but with more, shall we say, gentle usability. Not too sensible of course, but enough to help you arrive home in one piece.
Enter the Diablo, the only car ever named after the devil himself. Our video guy, Ciro De Siena, quite literally had a poster of this car on his bedroom wall, and a scale model in this exact colour.
Driving this car is quite literally a dream come true, but would the reality of the experience leave him feeling elated or deflated?
Only one way to find out.

This is a pure 90s sports car. You did the right thing to take the shoes off. :) This car was made only for pure hard driving, obviously not for just everyone. I remember it in yellow and red. This two colors rocks. :) Keep up bro.

Just like you I had a calander on my wall with a picture of this car as a young kid. Now some 25yrs later its still my dream to own one. One day soon I will make it happen. Saw one in real life for the first time a few years back. Cant wait to be able to sit in and drive one.

I saw a silver Diablo on the road a few days ago and I was blown away. I never thought I'd get to see one again in South Africa.
And now this video appears, and I'm just thinking: This has to be that very same Diablo I saw recently. This and the 25th Anniversary Countach are my all time favorite Lambos ever!

The problem with copying in the internet, is that you end up with videos narrating exactly the same things. Other than that, great video and comments on the driving.

If you ask any kid today what their favorite dream car is, they will all have different brands. In 95 I bet you every petrol head kid said, "the Diablo" ! I knew nothing of the specs at 10 years of age but knew only that it was the ultimate dream car and I should think so to 🤣

I have this to add, if you do not use and take pleasure out of what you own, if you sit on it and drool over the beauty of it and the possible future value of it, without using it, someone else down the line will own it and take absolute pleasure of owning it and using it. You will have missed the opportunity of enjoying the thing that was meant to be enjoyed. Another thing ,the buyer will not pay for your sentiments. Mooi loop.

My favorite Lambo! I still love those lines! But in terms of performance it is far behind the competitors of the time, on paper it was similar but in the real world it is far below cars like the F50, XJ220, EB110, even the F40 that is from the 80s has a performance far above Diablo in the world real! But speaking of Lamborghini will always be my favorite, and in this spec it's beautiful!

    • @RRRRefuelRideRace
