- Hey party people! Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I share with you this new week of dinners! The age-old question "What's For Dinner?!" Well, folks... here it is! This is what our family ate for dinner this past week and everything was delicious! I am trying to accommodate my oldest child's new dietary needs of needing to be wheat and dairy allergy-free, most (if not all of these meals) are gluten-free as well! I hope you enjoy the recipes!

all of those specialty, allergy free ingredients are so stinkin expensive. i'm sorry poor avelina has so many allergins to deal with. i love how you are going all out trying to make family normal recipes for everyone that she can enjoy without feeling like an outcast or different. you aren't making her meals separately. everyone eats what she eats. that's awesome. you're a great mom, kim.

Good lord, when you found the paper on the bottom of the pork after you put it in the crock..🤣 I had just taken a drink and then suddenly I spit it out all over my comp screen from laughing. My son is dairy free and gluten free so I'm loving your new meal prep and snack prep videos with this focus!

A tip if you have celiac, oats are usually processed in the same area as some gluten containing products, so may want to get gluten free oats.
Well I've only been doing this for a year for my son, so not sure I'm a veteran yet! I do highly recommend any Scharr products for bread. Any gf bread is better warmed slightly or toasted as well. I also think store brand gf pasta has really been pretty consistent and it holds up against sauce, but doesn't save super great for leftovers. You can't over cook or under cook it either, so you gotta watch it closely! Tinkyada brand pasta lasagna sheets work well! My son handles lactose free cottage cheese and milk fairly well, so we can substitute lactose free cottage cheese into things like lasagna too. Parmesan is naturally low in lactose and he does ok with that in small doses as well. I have tried every non- dairy cheese that is available in my area. I think they are all fairly awful. Especially melted. However, daiya brand does a frozen pizza that's gf/df and the whole family likes it! It's NOT the same as regular cheese, but a good substitute. We mostly make the same recipes we always made but leave out the cheese or just don't use a bun, etc. Earth balance butter or maiyokos (sp?) Are the best for baking or cooking. Other brands are so much more oily to me. They are worth the extra cost. Fage best self lactose free yogurt is the only yogurt I can stand. Non- dairy yogurt is very strange to me, but again, my kid will eat it! Hopefully your daughter can do some lactose free, that helps immensely! We also carry lactaid with us at all times! Good luck. It gets easier. My 3 yr knows to ask if something has gluten. He knows what hurts his tummy, I'm just glad we finally figured it out too! ❤️

Yay a Kim video to cook along too. I'm in Ireland and here lamb is shepherd's pie beef is cottage pie. I tend to have more small veg in with the meat, peas, small carrots even chopped broccoli. Secret ingredient is a OXO beef stock cube crumbled in ( not sure if you get these in US) and less water makes a really rich gravy under the lush mash potatoes.
Shepherds pie is lamb, cottage pie is ground beef. Us Brits love a hotpot.

Ive made the Sweet Chilli Salmon with both Salmon and Chicken and works awesome either way so use whatever your family prefers👍

Meat pie is a tradition in my family to have around Christmas time. It is actually ground meat and spices(cinnamon and cloves) in a pie shell. I believe it is from our French Canadian heritage.
1st-I am always amazed how quick you get these videos out.
2nd-I can’t wait to try every single one of these meals they look so delicious thank you for cooking.
3rd-love the real life recipe adjustments especially with spices and now food allergies. Bon a petite.

Ive made your Sweet Chilli Salmon dish (you must have shared on the gram) both with marmalade and a whole orange, equally as good but definitely double the sauce, also wonderful on Chicken so use what you have people👍

In the UK there is the debate between Shepard's pie and cottage pie. The only real difference is the meat. 😀. Shepherds pie is a comfort food, especially autumn/winter. If you like Shepard's pie you might like a hotpot. I am trying that Salmon it looked amazing. 👍

Hi Kim. Cottage pie is beef, think indoor animal for milking. Shepherd’s pie is lamb so think herded sheep. I used to call it style pie when I used pork and tweety pie when it was chicken or turkey. Pretty gruesome names for the last three don’t you think? I don’t eat much meat these days as media has made me over anxious about it but your recipes always make me think differently and healthier minded about it. I guess I am a wannabe vegetarian lol!! We in Cornwall, England, call it Wooster sauce. We miss out a whole bunch of letters. Not surprisingly we do the same with our town names. I live in Launceston but have always called it Lanson. I guess we ended up with a whole lot of letters that even we can’t figure out how to say them. I am so hungry watching you cook it looks delicious xx

Yum yum double yum. The next time you make baked mashed potatoes you can try using a fork to rake the top of the potatoes before you put them in the oven. They come out super pretty. Yours looked great already. It would just add an extra pizazz 😬🤗
Shepard’s pie is lamb, cottage pie is beef, meat pie is also beef but it’s in pastry not under potato, then there’s meat and potato which is diced and also in pastry. Cottage and shepherds pie u need onion, carrots, mushrooms and I put peas and broccoli in too. Beef gravy but of brown sauce (not bbq) and a few oxo cubes salt and pepper. Mash potato over the top 👌🏼 same for lamb but lamb gravy I make a huge pot and have one for dinner then put two or three in the freezer.

True shepherd's pie was made from left over roast beef dinner. So you would grind up the roast beef and then add in whatever left over veggies, gravy and potatoes you had. It was a way to use up the left overs.

Love your channel x My parents are Italian and mum use to make potato gnocchi and she always said that the amount of flour depended on the humidity in the air and wetness or dryness of the potatoe. So it's never exact. When she made homemade pasta there is a standard recipe but extra flour can also be needed x

Lamb features heavily in Greek cooking, so the Greek salad is a good call. Shepherd's or cottage pie has always been my husband's favourite.

So I made the Shepards Pie for dinner tonight after watching this video, and it turned out amazing! Was my first time making it. Also I was writing down the recipe for the peanut butter bars and you never mentioned how much peanut butter to add to the food processor. Lol but I'll check out the link you left. Peanut butter cups are my husbands favorite treat so I'll be excited to try those. Also I though maybe a good idea would be to use silicone molds that way they are already individualized servings. I love your what's for dinner videos gives so many good new ideas for me to try. I always label them, Kimberly Whisk's Recipes. Lol Take care.

In the uk we call the beef version “Cottage Pie” until 5 seconds ago I never knew why it’s called that, apparently at the end of the 18th century was when “cottage pie” became known, and because the poorer people at the time lived in cottages and potatoes became part of our everyday food that’s where the name sprang from… it’s really true you do learn something everyday 😊 love from Yorkshire 🇬🇧🇬🇧

The shepherds pie topped with cheese before you bake it in the oven takes it up a level! You can get really good dairy free cheeses that melt nicely too
Ooooh yes!! If I wasn't making it dairy free I would have done that! I know they have dairy free cheese options but when we've tried them in the past they're all awful... soo there's that! Totally top it with cheese if you want that added deliciousness!!
In Australia a shepherds pie is topped with potato. A meat pie is ground beef in a savoury pastry case - like apple pie but savoury.
When making mashed potatoes, you can also add stock (chicken, vegetable, whatever) instead of milk. Works for us :)
This is a great recipe! I especially like that it is dairy free. I cook all dairy free so I’m always looking for new recipes . I make have a cooking channel too. You are very talent and I’d love to learn more from each other!!

Uk here. Shepherds pie (lamb) cottage pie (beef) and add a lot more veg. Carrots, green beans, parsnips, swede/turnip and also add red lentils or tinned green lentils drained. Just adds more nutritional value and can also bulk out with less meat and less cost. My husband would want to serve with baked beans but I usually do tenderstem broccoli and asparagus.
We eat a lot of shepherd's pie in the UK, we often use beef instead of lamb and still call it shepherd's pie rather than cottage pie 😂
We fluff up all the mash so that you get crispy mash on the top layer and soft underneath!

Shepherds pie looked bomb! Also - shepherds herd lambs so that would make sense why it’s called that abs why you would use lamb LITERALLY never clued into that lol. Lamb choo was my FAV - we had so many on VHS but the one I remember the most was a special one called “don’t wake your mom” classic.

We often add garden or petit pois, cubed carrot is a regional thing, as is Worcester Sauce ( Wuss Taa Sauce), once cooked, topped with mash, add grated cheese to top and put back in oven for a crispy cheesy topping.
Apropos of nothing - I'm currently adding cubed ButternutSquash to my mash 👌

Hey from Glasgow Scotland uk. I'm just catching up on your videos hear in Scotland we typically use ground beef for Sheppard pie . When I make it I make my potatoes n leave them to go cold I cook my meat for a few hours before puting it all together then stoped with loads of cheese and wee eat baked beans with it xx
