I remember when Subway used to cut a ‘V’ in the top of their bread rolls and remove the top to fill the inside of the’V’ then, replace the top to form the sandwich. 😃

I prefer the v cut, for a long time if you asked they would still do it, less toppings fall out
I remember the v cut. The filling didn’t fall out nearly as much but it did take more time to make it.
@@froggy0165 I agree. I prefer the cutout. The bread held everything without slipping out. Also, with the split bread, you get a whole side that is a ton of bread or bread and meat without toppings. It just isn't as consistent as the cutout type.
My husband cuts his bread like that for meatball subs. One day I was lazy so I didn’t make a boat (9 months pregnant and exhausted) and a meatball fell out and rolled away. I was really wishing we had a dog again, best vacuum cleaners and mop ever.

For your boiled eggs: when they are done, shake them around in the pot to crack the shells, then put them into the ice water. They will peel very easily...well, they do for me at least.
"Well, you guys know me. I don't have that (peppercorns)."

I remember when 4-1-1 meant dialing "Information" - now it just means it's the temperature of Kim's oven!! 😂 Yes, as others have mentioned, Subway totally cut their buns like that - even way up here in Canada! The Italian music while you were finishing making the sandwiches made me LOL!

@@thewadsquad a sugar pie (traditional pie in Belgium) if you already have the pie crust just put half a cup of Brown sugar at the bottom, then beat 1 egg with almost 1 cup of milk (metric system lol) you can also put pieces of butter if you want your arteries to clog even more but yeah das it ! I have no idea what the cook time is btw, I mean your oven is broken so I dont think you care 😂😂

All of a sudden my five year old says “bon appetite” when we’re eating and I always think of you! I’ve also never been so proud of one of my children lol
Absolutely remember the old subway cut! For a while I refused to have the new cut and made them cut it the old way. Now there are so many people that don't even remember it. Lol.
When I peel eggs after I tap an end I roll it a couple of times against the counter and that loosens and cracks the shell. Makes it easier to peel.
I worked at subway back in the early 90's, yes we would carve out the top, it was like subways signature way to do it
Hi Kim,,,,,,tap and roll the boiled eggs on work top gently to break the egg shell. They peel so much easier 🐓🐓🐓🐓

I personally always had luck putting salt in pot, add water then eggs. When water starts boiling then time eight minutes. Then pour most of the water out and put pot in sink and run cold water. When eggs are cool enough to touch but still warm I gently tap on counter all over and then the shell just slides and almost falls off and separates. I still get couple stubborn ones and peel those under the running water. My mom always did this way and works best that I’ve seen.

Hi Kim. I found out, quite by accident, that if you hit each end of the egg then gently roll the sides of the egg on a stainless steel sink the peel will slide right off!! Now, sometimes you’ll get an egg that will remind you of one of your kids and just not cooperate with the process, but it’s almost foolproof! Thanks for your videos. We look forward to seeing what you have for us. ❤️ You’re the best!!😊

That's so funny to me that you're making pickled onions that way. My grandma used to make cucumber salad with vinegar, sugar, water, salt and pepper. 😂 just cucumber, tomatoes, and onions with the vinegar mixture in a bowl. She'd chill it in the refrigerator all day and it was the absolute best thing ever! Thanks for bringing back such sweet memories for me 🥰

Those sandwiches look soo good!! 😋 I do that too, make my own-it’s so economical! A little splash of vinegar in the water when you boil the eggs helps the shells slip off easier. 👍🏼

put the bowl of eggs in the freezer for 15 mins . then tap the chubby end of the egg on the counter then start peeling the chubby part you tapped on counter under the water. super easy to peel eggs everytime i dont have ice eather and thats what i do.

I have the 6-egg cooker. It's AWESOME and I use it every time I 'boil' eggs. It rings nice and loud when the eggs are done, so no forgetting them and there is literally NO clean up, just (air) drying. Invest in one, Kim, you won't be sorry!
Also, it's pronounced 'cass-teel' soap.
I’ve had an egg cooker (I think mine is Hamilton Beach? Does 7 eggs) for about 12 years and can’t imagine using anything else. But if I needed more than a full dozen regularly, I’d probably give the IP a try.

Yayy meal prep video! Love these and they always motivate me to do it more.
For the egg peeling thing, not sure if you’ve seen/done this ‘trick’ or if it’s even new but one I recently saw was that you knock eggs against each other to create tiny cracks in the shell (not hard enough to break them but just enough to make the shell crack) then put them back in the water for two minutes. Supposedly it lets water get between the cracks and loosen the shell up to peel. I tried it and it worked! Though not sure if it was a lucky fluke or not since I only did it once but LOL worth a shot

Absolutely yes! For years and years they cut a triangle shape out of the top of the bread stuck all that make cheese veggies in there and put the top back on. It was so good nothing fell out the side you could cradle it in your hand it was so good. For a long time when I made subs at home like you're doing I cut it that way too I'd kind of forgotten about it until you mentioned it again!
Yes subway did carve out the bread from the top. No Boars head meat is the best. My daughter use to work at Publix deli so she knew all the good meats to try. That sandwich tray came out nice. Love your cooking videos there so fun. Thank you.

I never know how to condense my comments(sorry!!) Chili, don't know why but my brother uses salsa and a beer in his chili and wins contests. Aren't you supposed to leave pickled stuff in the brine longer? Older eggs are better, you are so RIGHT! Oh, Oh, I hate my instapot too, it hates me, I'm sure we're scared of each other(L'm sure it's a B)!! Bacon in the oven is so much easier, love that!!
