Thanks for the video. A lot has changed since I last used Photoshop.
Your channel is a bless for designers.
Thanks!
This is exactly the video I needed! I'll be saving this for later. Earlier today I tried doing a composite and realized how rusty I am at selecting stuff. I definitely needed a refresher.
Awesome! I think you'll like it!
Thank you for not messing around and being straight to the point with these examples! Lots of great techniques in this one
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks!
ItÂŽs kind of underappreciated how much knowledge and techniques your sharing with us when I look at the views. Thanks a ton for this and I could listen to you for hours honestly.
One of my favorite ways to get rid of halos or color bleeding in hair and fur is to use decontaminate colors in select in mask. However I use it a little differently than most people. I output it from select and mask as a new layer and then set the blend mode to color. Then I clip it to the original layer with the subject cut out. That way it only uses the color information from the decontaminated colors layer and you donât get any weirdness from the expanding that happens.
Another way is to use a hue/saturation adjustment layer. Change it from master to blues (or whatever color youâre trying to get rid of in the hair or fur). Dial in the range sliders to isolate it as much as possible to color your trying to get rid of, then use the hue and saturation sliders to match that color to the color of the fur or hair. Then to isolate it further you can use layer mask on the adjustment layer. Fill the mask with black and then paint with white only over the edges of the hair or fur.
Decontaminate colors works wrong, destructively. I suggested on the Adobe's forum to fix it by making a clipped layer as you're describing. I created the topic almost a year ago, but received NO votes from other users... I'm not sure if CZcams allows external links, but you can find it on the Adobe's forum, the title is "Decontaminate colors option as a clipped layer".
@@timefilming Thanks. Iâll check it out.
Yeah. I've been wishing for a non-destructive option for decontaminate color forever. I guess outputting as a new layer is sort of non-destructive because you still have the original layer, but you can't go and make adjustments so it's quite limited.
@@tutvid it's a pity, but YT deletes the comments with links (or moves them to the channel owner's consideration)
Thank you, sir.
Definitely a must see and save. Thanks Nathaniel, and good to have you back.
Thanks for watching!
When using channels (and also on the mask itself), after levels I go with the D&B tool set to highlight/shadows respectively to clean the edges. Awsome vid as usual. I've been following for almost 10 years. Cheers from Portugal.
That's a good idea. I've never done that before, but I'll try it! Thanks for the comment!
