- MHA Chapter 395 gave us the most insane twist, and I for one did not see this unbelievable sacrifice coming. The last chapter was met with a ton of controversy, but this chapter was way crazier than anything we saw last time. This is about to have a massive impact on the entire war, including the fight between Deku and Shigaraki.

Man imagine if someone in the medical field had gotten to toga before she went down villain route. Toga litteral has one of the most useful quirks for blood transfusions. Could have had Dr. Toga instead of psycho toga.
Yeah, she couldve been a great doctor, just like Overhaul.
Both of their quirks are perfect for the job.
That sounds like the basis for some FANTASTIC fan fiction!

Most of the League of Villains had great quirks that could be used in society. Compress could make transporting huge things a breeze, Twice could've made his own blue collar firm or restaurant with his abundance of clones, hell even Shigaraki's quirk is the most useful as it's the only thing that could potentially break down energy. Dude, in conjunction with Twice, could solve this planet's trash problem. That's Nobel Peace Prize worthy. Society in this manga is shortsided as every quirk has its use
USA believes in invading Iraq and creating a million Togas, and good people still study to become your doctors while you keep feeding Nestle chocolate to your chldren, harvested by children abused in EVERY way.
Get real, you don't believe in anything better. Now people are making up revenge fantasies about trafficking, while Ukrainian girls have been making money on US pom for decades online. This teenage bloodbath in MHA is a grotesque way to entertain hypocrites like YOU.
This made me think that if Toga had been loved by her parents, she could've been a great nurse/doctor/ hero. She could've saved a ton of people via blood transfusion.

Which, more ironically, would have been "the same" as her current complexion: be a rescue hero just like Ochaco, be her colleague - mirroring, in a certain way, her urgence to become the people she loves.
I understand why they were freaked out by her quirk, but I did always feel bad for child Toga. She pretty much went crazy because she constantly had to control her urge for blood.

I never expected Horikoshi to give Toga the atonement through death treatment like other sympathetic Shonen antagonists. But it was clear that he wanted to give her some form of redemption.
Unfortunately for Toga, she had done too many bad things for redemption. She wasn't redeemable, even if they're making seem like this was redemption, it really wasn't. Her sacrifice is more like atonement for her sins, not redemption.
It's litearlly a cliche ass shounen, the same thing that happens in every other anime is happening here. If you still, couldn't figure out toga was gonna die, man maybe there's no way for you to have average common sense.

It’s crazy that the fandom is in an uproar… get it… at this point of the story when I quietly drop this series at the start of this war arc. But I got back into the series because of this meltdown. My thoughts are that this is actually very sweet and I felt it was a solid way to tie toga and Ochaco’s characters arc in a nice bow. It didn’t betray any themes that were in the show prior to my departure of this series.

And what actually would be the “betrayal”? Like…people need to sit down and look at the story as a whole: Each arc Deku encounters one or two people who have a huge issue with hero society or even suffered under it. Starting with Allmight himself, to Kota, to Nagant to Gentle, to Nighteye, to Shiggy and ultimately the entire league. The league while being radicalised extremists and therefore terrorists, do have a few points and it is no coincidence, that the older Deku gets, the more he realises the social issues around him. Cause that is part of growing up.
It makes Deku question if ideals based on lies can still be ideals and what actually makes a hero. Which has been the question from the start.
It’s not running in a situation without thinking, or flashy powers or self sacrifice. Even Allmight got that wrong.
It’s TRYING to reach out a hand to help someone, and putting aside pride, political disagreements, oppositions, race and believes and see the human and their origin again, behind the label. Even if it is a bother or will not benefit you.
And during the series we learn that all of 1A understand this through their hardships, their companionship and their origins.
Deku gets his hero academia not just from the school, his teachers and classmates but also from the “villains” he encounters.
Plus…personally everything after the war arc is a ten out of ten for me, so I really don’t get it. People just judge the series based on what they think will happen…like the whole thing with invisible girl and the traitor…just to be blown away by what Hori has in store.
No man is created equal (first words of the series), but we all can ask for help and reach out a hand to help others. I believe this will be the end message.
And I cannot wait, to see Minas moment, young for one, Shoto freezing an entire city, Dabi melting himself and the statue, gearshift and all the gentle, Nagant, Mirko and Bakugo moments animated. Like what the hell. It’s all really epic and the message of the series in general is great as well. But that’s just my subjective opinion.
If Toga really died to Save her first and last friend that wasn't part of the league, then this is just a powerful message screaming "A sacrifice is more than just saving someone, it's about giving them hope so they can continue on for them" if anyone noticed it, Toga gave Ochako her All Might doll! (unless it was Ochako's own that she got from Izuku and it dropped during their fight and she just gave it back to her in her final moments) that's even more of an emotional impact because if again Toga died, then she died saving her own Hero, aka Ochako... bro I am starting to cry now God dammit.

I like that Horikoshi is giving Toga a chance to atone for her life, she understood that there's no redemption because of what she's done so the least she can do is save the one person who tried so hard to reach out to her and give her a chance.

Don't really follow the manga anymore but i wonder if people realize that form Toga possition the choice boil down to : 1)Ditch Ochako,run away and be unforgivable b*tch. 2) take a gamble,try to get help from Hero side and get judged by who ever win the war(Ochako surviving is coin toss). 3) dying to safe Ochako.
I always had a feeling that Toga was going to die and I even said several times I thought she was going to die. But I was also hoping I was wrong and she wouldn't die. I was hoping Horikoshi could've found a way to have Toga live. Even though I wish Toga would live, the way she sacrificed herself to save Ochako was so beautiful and so emotional. It's the perfect way to have Toga go out and atone for her sins.
I think she will live...either they'll find her and take her to the medic, or she will escape like Mystic in the X-Men movie

Death is sometimes seen as freedom, especially if the one dying was in pain. And I'm sorry, but why would Horikoshi make it so emotional if he was going to have her live?

The fact that Ochako managed to get through to Toga and Toga sacrifices her life to save Ochako is really powerful yet emotional at the same time. I’m glad that Toga managed to realise that what true love really means. Though I doubt Toga would be alive after what she has done but then again anything could happen.
And I hope that toga survive so that way Ochako and Toga can both date Izuku at the same time that way it would make the whole MHA series stand out a lot differently then before.

For some reason I feel like Uraraka’s personality might change after this blood transfusion, I keep thinking about what AFO said during the first war in the vestige world.
She might become a little like Toga, hell she might even get Toga's quirk or at least a variation of it.

I kinda predicted Toga would save Uraraka via a blood transfusion. Honestly, this just adds another layer of tragedy to her character. If her parents had bothered to actually raise Toga instead of treating her like a monster, she could've been saving lives rather than taking them. Using her Quirk to give blood transfusions would've made her a great rescue hero, or at the least, a great nurse.
While I agree with your points, I'm not quite convinced she's dead. That panel with Hawks and the Twice clones makes me think he may have a role to play in saving Toga, maybe donating some of his blood to keep her alive. While he did what he felt was the right thing at the time, Hawks did genuinely like Twice and regretted that he had to kill him. This, I think would provide some closure for Hawks. He couldn't help Twice, but he can help the person Twice cared about.
This might be the only way I could accept Toga being saved without completely ruining this moment.
As much as I love toga, I agree. Her dying would make this so much more powerful and meaningful, and letting her live would make this a waste.
Yeah. Horikoshi didn't HAVE TO kill her, but after this chapter with the way it was set up, I feel like he has to.
Unfortunately Horikoshi already ruined a powerful narrative twist when Bakugo survived, so I don't really trust him to actually kill a semi-popular character

Toga is my favorite character in this series, because she was such a deep and complex character with though initially unclear motives, are some of the most relatable. She just wanted to be accepted, loved and understood. This is why I love this series. These characters feel more real and the story isn't afraid to go into the darker side of things and take risks.

To be perfectly fair, when you are using someone else's blood in a transfusion you tipicly don't kill the other person to do so. You only need enough to stabilize their condition. Toga could very easily survive this, and I honestly don't think her surviving would cheapen this chapter at all. The gesture of putting someone's wellbeing before her own shows growth in itself. You don't have to die for it to have meaning.
Given that Ochako was bleeding out to the point she was suffering brain death, yeah Toga would need to give her enough blood to not die. If you lose 50% of your blood you will die.
So Toga needed to give Ocako more than half her own blood to save Ochako.
Now I completely agree that this is just a perfect way to end Toga as a character. This does definitely wrap everything up, but at the same time…I didn’t want Toga to die so if some shonen bull comes in to save her you won’t hear me complaining. 😆

toga canonically liked uraraka, she’s literally canonically bisexual weather the feelings mutual for uraraka might be debated or even false that doesn’t mean the ship in itself has entirely NO chemistry backed up behind it, not everyone is interested in the most obvious bland shonen ship to ever exist
The pain Toga feels for using the quirk of those she transforms into is the pain of love: her love. It's a contradiction within her that is only now being resolved... her feeling the desire to hurt the ones she loves. But there was another alternative that she wasn't able to come to because no one understood nor was willing to understand and help guide her, with her parents failing her the most. The emotional pain Toga had to endure was incredible. The reason her mind broke is very understandable because she was burdened with a hell of an amount of weight, too much for a child to carry. It doesn't justify her killing anyone. She's still guilty, but it gives some understanding to how and why she was corrupted into becoming who she was. She's an amazingly written tragic character.
As a huge Toga fanboy, it hurts that she died, it's a bittersweet ending for me
RIP toga. Misunderstood yet willing to help those who accepted her.

Even if this scene seems too untimely, there weren't many alternatives where Toga could survive post-battle. There also was no guarantee she'd be one of the villains brought over to the new society and allowed to live the way she wished to (AFO is known for betraying and using others; keeping the word of his tool is out of character for him, as dominion is indiscriminate).
In the end, this is the best outcome for her as a person and for the readers. We'll be left with a fond memory and a brute fact on what 'true love' really is. It isn't about infatuation or lust or sex, it's about self-sacrifice.

I'm just happy to hear that Ochako lives. With the exception of Naruto x Hinata and Lan x Maylu, all of my favorite ships outside of romance stories have either ended in tragedy or never seen any real development. I was absolutely certain Ochako would die at some point after her confession in Season 1 that she was in it for the money. I thought for sure she would be hunted down for it by the League of Villains, but she wasn't...and then we got to this. When I saw this video pop up in my feed, I thought "This is it. The heartbreak moment." So, so happy to see that I was wrong.

Nice, another Lan x Maylu shipper! Tbh, it's rare to find any Megaman Battle Network love in general, even after the collection released.
But yeah, there are a handful of ships I can name that I supported, but they either died or just stopped. Yugi x Tea, Joey x Mai, Ash x Serena, TK x Kari, Tai x Sora, etc. Only ships I can really think that are canon (& they're not from pure romance stories) are Nate x Katie from Yokai Watch & Kirito x Asuna from Sword Art Online. Despite SAO not ending anytime soon, the author has pretty much made Kirito & Asuna's relationship so canon to the point where he already confirmed a few times that he's planning to write their real world wedding scene when he ends the story.

Some people didn't like how the Toga fight went down, but to me it reminded me of why people love Batman the Animated Series. Just because the Rogues Gallery didn't kill as many people as Toga, doesn't make them any less crazy since they still attempted murder. And while she can't fully atone for what she did, the act of saving Ochako from death will prove to the other heroes how to save a life from despair like how Batman tries to do.
you know how these fan are, because there is talk instead of fight, they don't like it, because they don't know how to appreciate a real good twist for a character, reminds me of some Vinland Saga S1 fans, who didn't understand the purpose of S1 and S2

I kind of did picture Toga getting killed but in a more morbid and twisted kind of way. One was when Toga starts having a touching moment with Uraraka and Hawks coming back to stab her in the back at the worst possible timing ever, making him look like an even bigger bad guy than when he killed Twice. But this one works too and hopefully it’s not a fake out. Next up I hope we see Kurogiri and maybe an update on Aoyama’s location.
What about Sero’s fight cause he needs attention too with Ojiro and Sato and several Class 1-B at Takoba Stadium where they got their Hero License

It’s so perfect for us to see the usefulness of her abilities right when it is too late. This world has been set up for seeing the potential in anyone, and it’s sad how some ppl just go down the wrong path. Hirokoshi really puts a lot of thought into his characters
If Toga does survive, even if just barely, her powers would make her very good for a healing/medical life as a way to further atone.
People forget that mha has always been about saving everyone and sacrificing your life as a hero to protect others. There are always different types of ways to save people, not just by protecting people from bad guys. Talking to someone can aIso save their life, sometimes we just need a heart to heart conversation. Idk why people get mad when a hero does their job.
People hate these chapters but i lowkey enjoyed these ochaco vs toga chapters im patient enough to wait for stuff like All Might vs afo and deku vs tomura not to mention toga’s final moments lowkey carried it and it was nice to see how she changed from season 3 all the way towards the end of the series

Toga became a hero in the end. One can only hope that it reserved a place for her past the pearly gates. She gave the ultimate sacrifice and was true of heart when she did it. I hope one day these two can meet again in heaven whenever Ochuko naturally passes. Very powerful chapter.....

Toga in heaven? Very unlikely with that many kills and victims. First off she never atoned for any of her actions except ochako. How is 1 life saved gonna help her when she killed 100. She won’t even make it to the gates before she is sent down below. Also how would togas dead victims feel if they saw her chilling in heaven while all of them are there because of her actions and she gets away with it ? Y’all funny 😂

Imagine an absolute dark twist….
The hero’s come upon this scene and want to rescue Uraraka but can’t tell the difference. Noticing which way the blood is flowing the assume Toga is the real one and rip the IV out of them and takes her away for help.
All the while she’s screaming they need to help her (the real Uraraka)! Breaking Toga even further…

I'm imagining a weird series of events where Toga basically creates a feedback loop with her Quirk and her blood pump where she pumps her blood into Ochako and then back out into her, keeping them both on death's door until the end of the battle, and when someone comes to help them, there's two Ochakos. Both of them come to, and there's a horrifying realization; they both think they're the real Ochako, they both have the same memories and thought patterns, and no matter how much time passes, neither of them change back. In the end, because neither one can be confirmed to be the original, neither can be held accountable for Toga's actions, but Toga herself is effectively dead and the two Ochakos know it. There's the obvious identity crisis, but they both resolve that Toga got what she wanted in the end by giving everything she had for somebody else and becoming them in the process, and finally becoming a 'cute normal girl', so they should both honor the promise they made by being there for each other for the rest of their lives.
It'd be a weird and messed up situation, but it would give the two as much of a happy ending as possible without condoning all of the horrible things Toga had done. Plus, two Ochakos.
Honestly ? I LIKED the way Ochako 'saved' Toga because it adds up a lot to the whole notion of why so many people turn into villains in the MHA verse. Empathy is something that defines Ochako a lot, so her trying to understand someone like Toga makes a lot of sense, and plays a lot on what being a hero is all about, she's pretty similar to Izuku at this.
What I didn't like was... well that this scene happened only NOW. After SO MUCH has passed, after everything Toga had done I thought this was way past the "point of no return", I feel bad for her, her story is tragic, but she also had done way too much already, fallen way too much, imo it was long past the point of "feeling empathy" for her, she needed to be stopped or just straight up killed.
I think it's important to always be ready to extend a hand for someone in need, be them good or bad, but after a point it becomes downright wrong to do so, when someone has done too much, you put them down, plain and simple. I simply don't think Toga was "deserving" of all that empathy whatsoever.

It really is an emotional chapter. And I might even say that this is my favorite chapter so far. It's truly beautiful. I'd want Toga to stay dead. Just because for impact. If she came back, I wouldn't be very happy. Her ending was so well written. I think this was the perfect redemption for her.

Himiko Toga was someone who suffered for being different and she had aways hoped to live in a world were she was accepted despite that difference and even though she was not able to achieve that fully she found in ochaco that she was accepted by one person and she died the way she lived. Being herself and their is no better way for Toga to go out. Even though I am sad my favorite character is no longer in the show she had a incredible story and being able to see her experiences in life was awsome and made (MHA) so much better.
I loved this outcome. Toga finding happiness in the world she wished to destroy although very late but she found it and sacrificed herself to keep Ochaco alive. Living the way she chooses. Also, granted it was a clone but she understood that Hawks regretted the situation with Twice. Everything wrapped up really nicely with her character here.
I honestly agree, as much as I like Toga, this sacrifice can make such an impact on her character and like you said, not only could it redeem Toga’s character but made it a powerful moment and honestly to somehow have Toga be alive here somehow, I think would ruin the impactful moment of self sacrifice for Toga and her character
Imagine an Ultimatum where Deku uses Talk no Jutsu on Toga.
I feel like toga's death would honestly make the most sense tbh she literally lived and died as she wanted , makes sense with her character , plus death often comes with regrets for what could've been both for those mourning and those who are dying , so I feel like her death is the best possible way to move the story forward without butchering her character . That being said I am a sucker for redemption arcs and I love Toga , so I'd want her to live and improve and be incorporated into society eventually , but as you said ; that would cheapen her character arc

Honestly I think the writer should make the story have a different plot twisting ending that where homing toga survived and she got saved and that Ochako and himigo toga both end up in a relationship with Izuku. Which would be a different plot twisting story’s from different types of anime shows which would make the series stand out differently.

When Toga was looking around and seeing what she has done it reminds me the first fight between Ochako and Toga after Twice was killed so Toga wanted to find Deku or Ochako and "talk"...while during this moment Ochako does say to Toga that Actions have consequences (Ch 289 pg 13) and when Ochako told Deku that she would take care of Toga (when they were on that island) Ochako says she is living the way that is right for her as Ochako Uraraka (Ch 349 pg 8).
Well Toga would have gotten the death penalty if she got captured and went to prison.
Toga sacrificing herself to save Ochaco would’ve been an emotional gut punch for sure. The Final War’s starting to wrap up, but what about Eraserhead, Present Mic, and Kurogiri’s arc? Hopefully that’ll be the next focus

Yeah its inexusable that Togas parents where concerned when she started to exhibit textbook serial killer traits. If your kid is potentially killing animals and drinking their blood or on the minimum being facinated by their corpses then cleraly somthing aint right. The fact that she snapped and attacked someone and just now realized that maybe killing people might be morally wrong proves that there probably wasen't much help to begin with. While her saving one person and for once not thinking about herself does nothing to redeem her or absolve her of her multiple murders hell she is basically running away from punishment but at least its somthing. At this point Shigaraki already told his entire family and All for one that he doesent care and he basically said that even the kid Tenko part of him is a degenerate murderer who wants to destroy society and that he purpousfully used this part of himself to get ahead shows that there is pretty much zero chance that this man will change like less chance than Dabi at this point.

I thought I was an odd duck but it seems like I’m not the only one who sees the truth about toga deserving nothing and going to hell.
Okay I see the “sweetness” I guess…we saw the tragedies of the League but I thought it was more than obvious they all left “victimhood” and became actual villains🤨. Like they do know what they are doing and that they are hurting people and would continue to do it. Toga’s last act isn’t a real redemption it’s really more tragic as it proves if someone had reached out she could have been alright in the world. If society doesn’t change after this then yeah…the ball was dropped. What does it matter if the villains are defeated if the circumstances that lead to them being how they were are still in place making others in the same situation?
I'm sad horikoshi killed off my girl toga but, as you've said it was a great way for her to go out she saved Ochaco by literally giving her life, i personally loved Toga as a character and im sad she's gone but this chapter was beautiful and i cried a bit when toga gave her life to save Ochaco and finally realized "true love is loving someone so much that you'd want give them your blood" and personally i cant wait to see where the story is going.
I see the next chapter prediction it will show Izuku and Tomura’s reaction about Toga sacrifice herself to save Ochaco like Tomura will be angry 😡 that why Toga gives up all of her blood 🩸 to Ochaco and vows revenge and Izuku will be glad that Ochaco is okay even it almost cost her life and he will feel sorry for Ochaco for not saving Toga and promises to continue his goal as Ochaco already finishes her goal and Izuku and Tomura both go back to action

I feel like if Toga did live she’d have to work toward reforming the Super Hero society to make the world a better place for people like her. And make it less likely for a world to produce people like Stain, The League, the PLF, or the mutant types.

Which means Duke would have 2 girlfriends which one make the protagonist in the story stand out more differently in the anime series. This was probably the most gut wrenching chapter of the series. I honestly wasn't expecting this outcome, nor was I expecting to feel as bad as I do for toga
Honestly this is one of my favorites chapters.
Their has been a lot of animes that have used talking as a way to stop people in their evil ways. And 99 of those are horse crap.
But this one makes sense. Because all she wanted to do was to be accepted. In a world which didn’t think the same way as her.
Think of it as if you’re the only one in the world who likes sex for example. But everyone else thinks that just crazy and etc. so each time you try and date someone and bring up being physically they leave because in this world they don’t do that.
Yet you can’t help it because your body works in a way where you get attraction from that.
It was natural for her to want blood, and it’s a natural instinct. Just how we have hunger or how we have natural desires. And the more you supremes something the more you want it.
Kind of like the longer you wait to eat the hungrier you get. Which will cause you to act out. To just be heard.
So when she finally got to be her self or finally got accepted she was able to know that the league wasn’t the only way

Dhe's a villain that I find interesting. Unlike most Villains I like because I love to hate them, they scare me or I just want to see them get their comeuppance, with her I just enjoy seeing her onscreen because I know she's not overused. She was a bad person, a serial killer & scary in her own right. She was undoubtedly a villain. It was also interesting to see her journey, her character development; especially since she habitually got crushes on good guys / Heros.

I’m not in an uproar, it was poetic and perfect. Honestly the most surprising fight in the war arc. Because I didn’t think I would care that much about Uraraka vs Toga. But it was perfect and I cried. It was so happy/sad, the perfect send off. Honestly, I thought this is what we were getting from Dabi vs Shoto. But honestly Dabi should be dead already! How is he still holding on. Lmao He was literally burning his whole family alive, smiling that they cared about him NOW. Insanity.
For Dabi, it's adrenalin, hate and animosity, he can't calm down, because once he'll stop burning, he'll die

She had more than a warped view of love she had a warped view of life,and tha fact she was so broken and messed up is exactly what makes her actions excusable she likely didn't even know what she was doing was truly bad because it was fun to her and she always followed the feelings of her own heart and that along with support from other outcasts(who may have been the wrong crowd for her) she gained a warped morality and she kinda does deserve to live unlike a lot of other villains who were fully aware of what they were doing. It's an amazing sacrifice with a grand barring on her character and the story but don't discount the fact she should be allowed to live and recover from that with a better group of frens/fami than she had.
I wonder if we will see a moment where Toga's parents are shown watching the war on tv?

Her death was unfortunately necessary. We saw how much the general public didnt want Deku around because of the villains targetting him and how much wgggort was needed to convince them to let him stay at UA, imagine how hard it would be to keep Toga alive in any capacity insteadbof being given a death sentence. Her sacrifice to dave Uraraka will help to open the general public that much if what happened to give rise to these villains were because of what they did, instead of blaming the heroes for not saving them. I really want to see Toga's parents behind bars at the end of this series.
Well, damn, I called the transfusion AND the fact that her blood becomes the same as the blood of the person she transformed into. I'm not sure I'm cool with the fact that Toga took the easy way out and decided to straight up sacrifice herself. But I guess it is in her character. Her last line even acknowledges that.
Also Toga's redemption still makes more sense than whatever Bakugo was doing.
Ngl, it would've been nice to have just one, just ONE, member of the League who was just evil because they're just evil. Like AFO. Every single member has some tragic, woe is me, story and every one needs and has redemption. Even Shigaraki could've been different if someone just helped him. Like, I miss having a charismatic villain who's evil because that's just how/who they are. Lord knows plenty of those exist in reality.

I want toga to come back like I want more from her but if she dies rn and doesn’t come back then I’m both mad and happy? that she died for ochako since she died a “hero”
If she lives, I dont think it would cheapen it. There is something special if she survives and she and Ochaco's bond deepens more, and they can quite effectively call themselves blood sisters, and she and Ochaco can explore what it means to be high school girls and build a stronger friend group. Toga has always wanted a connection with someone learning that love doesn't have to be just pain, but also happiness and willingness to risk/sacrifice your life, but also...fight to live. And with Recovery girl getting on in years and Eri still being so young, Toga with her fighting skills and agility, would probably make one hell of a member of a medical crew team. And throughout the series it feels like she has some general sense the amount of blood she takes from someone to incapacitate them but not kill them. So the direct blood transfusion technique is a viable technique and is used with soldiers. Ochaco was still conscious when the transfusion started, and at the end, so the blood received is likely enough to stabilize her and not drain Toga into critical condition......Or they could both die because Toga transformed back in that last scene and they're still connected.

If she dies, that would suck, if she lives, that would be far better. They lost Magne and Twice, two who could have also been genuinely redeemed as well. My hope is that Tenko, Compress, Spinner, Toga and Dabi all survive and can heal. To redeem themselves, because that, would be a perfect ending, especially if Tenko can purge AFO from himself, permanently
Even if they change they still need to paid for their actions, toga said that even if she is not more evil she doesnt want to go to jail even if ochako would be the one that capture her, its her life and she is gonna end it the way she wants, ochako saved toga and now she is returning the favor, she can die happy knowing that someone saw her as a girl with a cute smile. After all, these are Horikoshi characters so i guess he is the one that knows what is better for them
Toga dying here really is the best outcome for her character arc i believe, and i hope it is kept that way. It actually achieves some form of redemption and won't allow her to become a background nothing character. But it probably won't really affect the plot either way, unless she comes back and is used as a trick to defeat the final villains.
Toga did not really want to redeem herself or atone.. She just wanted to save Ochako because she was the only person to recognise her
