The employees should find a new job rather than trying to control a business that they don't own. The employees wouldn't want someone to tell them how to run their business. Employees that are fired are fired for a reason considering the restaurant hired that employee in the first place because it needs people to do the work (and still does), there is always a reason when an employee is fired (they are not up to par).

Wow...such a awesome comment. I can tell, you literally have no idea what you are talking about. You are opening a new hyped up restaurant..guess what comes with that? Business...yea it's good until it blocks up streets. Matt and Trey as owners understand people don't care. They will flood the streets and continue to wait till they get a parking spot..then comes the line outside. And before you know it..people are on their phones typing negative reviews.. THATS the mistake they are trying to avoid

@@kiblade2613 Gosh, an iconic local restaurant that was already extremely popular prior to the pandemic might have a whole bunch of pent-up demand when it re-opens? And its location just happens to be in an area that already had crummy parking for about the last 30 years? Yeah, it's going to be a PITA at first, and anyone visiting needs to anticipate and prepare for that. You're not going to miracle that kind of demand through the place in a speedy manner. After the first 3-6 months, things will calm down and the visit will be a bit easier.

  • @DotADBX

seems to me something is happening on the business end of this that's a problem
For people saying they are not being compensated correctly ill remind you they technically only need to pay the minimum wage and that doesn't actually include tips (tips are just an industry standard not a requirement as far as I know though Colorado law may be different) so upping to 30$ an hour is actually quite a massive jump for any restaurant to pay their employees tips or not.
most businesses want to open as quickly as possible regardless of if its perfect or not, however, since this is more of a passion project for Matt and Trey I would assume they wont be ready to open fully till they know its operating properly without them having to intervene, id assume the switch from 15$ + tips to 30$ no tip was largely in benefit of the employees since there wasn't going to be much business till a full open happens.
by this I mean it solidifies how much you will make weekly where as tips are variable and when hours are not fully set in stone -- aka you may only work one or 2 days a week if you were doing 15$/hr plus tips those tips may not be enough for you to even want to drive to work if business isn't popping off, so I can see why setting a 30$ floor for everyone while the businesses still fine tuning operations makes sense.
and I can see how this sucks for employees that may have been promised something that isn't happening but this is a standard tactic in employment promise the world provide nothing, not saying its right it just is what it is and it can happen any where and does.
in many cases I would say to employees there either suck it up and wait for the business to fully open or move on -- really its up to you and what you actually need in that moment I cant see them having a problem with this because employees gotta do what's in their best interest.
either way you slice this this wasn't going to be a "normal" restaurant opening because its probably not going to operate like a normal restaurant would or least at the beginning, its a passion project which means the owners are willing to eat costs till they know its prefect/good enough in their eyes and knowing how savvy matt and trey are at business they will make sure quality and functional profitability are maintained long after they hand off the project to who will be doing the daily operation.
now you could argue if they are willing to eat costs till its ready then they should be willing to eat labour costs, and yes while technically true that would be EXTREMELY altruistic for them to do in a business sense and I wouldn't hold my breath on that unless you see upper management really wanting to hold onto staff (which btw they might do for some that are critical to operations).

Well Casa Bonita is not your typical restaurant. Especially since they essentially rebuilt the entire thing and then now it has that South Park thing attached to it.
A soft opening makes sense a lot of new restaurants does it. And now with an entirely new staff that's getting a standard wage and benefits like you can consider this a trial run. Or live training before they actually fully open, which I'm sure would keep them very busy for months.
If Trey and Matt does another Casa Bonita South Park episode can guarantee the restaurant would be packed.
