    The 6:1 length to beam ratio has been the gold standard in ship building for a very, very long time. This is easily seen in warship design across the 20th century. Departure from this ratio happens but only when another factor is considered more important than keeping a general balance. God knew what He was doing.

      Let’s face it, whether the ark was hypothetically seaworthy or not, there has never, ever been a wooden boat nearly as large as the alleged ark (at least, until the pseudo-ark in Kentucky). The closest was built in the nineteenth century, a 449-foot boat (and this includes the jib and the boom; actually it is 329 feet). This is yet another indication that the original readers would have realized they were dealing with a figurative description of a boat. Also, there is copious geological evidence there was never a global flood in the first place.

      Full size, using FEET, it'd be 83 feet wide, 50 feet high, and 500 feet long. That works out to be 2,075,000 cubic feet. The average sized house is about 1500 square feet times 8 feet inside which is 12000 cubic feet. Which is 172 houses. A small town. Room for lotsa animals.

    I'm sure Noah continually stayed in prayer asking for God's guidance and knowledge in every aspect of this enormous endeavor. He reverenced, feared and trusted the Almighty. Could you imagine building something this massive that had never before existed or had never before been tested??? Could you imagine the stress, the agonizing labor, the ridicule from unbelievers, the fighting of doubts that I'm sure Noah endured not to mention how to gather and get the animals on board or how to go about feeding them. It took great courage, faith, and obedience to continue day after day after day and put yourself and family in the care of an unseen God. How many today would be able to have such extraordinary faith if God asked them to build an ark?? I think sometimes we focus on the wrong things in this incredible event. We know all things are possible with God but doubt the Creator of the universe can design an ark to save Noah, his family, and the animals?? The real focus of this amazing account is Noah's unwavering doubt and walk with God. If he had wavered would any of us be here today?? God didn't give us all the details I believe for a purpose. We should strive to be more like Noah and SEEK God's guidance for the details and leave the designing of our lives to Him, the Creator of all things. After all He knows the plans He has for you just trust Him, talk with Him and walk with Him.

      Satellite images show what _look like_ many huge beams, and as you say about glaciers, snow, ice, dirt, lava and rocks _seem_ to have covered them in a way that is almost impossible to notice. The satellite images show something very similar not on Mount Ararat in Turkey, but on a different place of _Ararat._ _Urartu (Ararat) kingdom_ expanded and contracted over time and some of its rulers made conquests by pushing their boundaries a little further than what is usually shown on most maps. This could be corroborated by what the biblical account says in Genesis 11:2: "And it came to pass, as they (Noah's descendants) _journeyed from the east,_ that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there." Mt. Ararat is northwest of Shinar, why they journeyed _from the east?_ Satellite images not from Mount Ararat if not from another place _of the east,_ also show something very similar with measurements of 23 meters or 75 feet width and the same characteristics as Noah's ark in the Bible. The altitude, location, and the geological characteristics of this place points to possibly be the real landing site of Noah's Ark.

    1) assume that only stone tools were available to Noah. 2) Ancient boatbuilders were not familiar with the concept of displacement. Boats were basically elaborate rafts. See ancient reed boats. They are actually rafts . 3) Imagine you were and ancient Egyptian who commissioned the transport of a bull up river. The boatbuilder would make a box to carry the bull and then build a reed raft big enough to support the box above the water line.
    so, what would an ancient boat builder make of these instructions from God? If it were me I would fell enough cedar trees to make a raft. I would leave the root bowl on and only remove some of the branches. I would lay them alternately so that the tops of each tree lay against the bottom of its neighbor. the small branches could then be tied together. Eventually the raft would have all the bowls on the outside. A number of layers thick. Once this had been done the ark/box would be constructed on top but for lightness , rough split planks and woven 'wattle' covered in pitch would be used. The result would meet the clients brief. It would be a rectangular box supported on a much larger raft base. All achieved by using stone tools. Burning the root bowls.. A natural gully/valley would be the best place to start dragging the trees into. No cranes need to be used, only ramps and scaffolding.

    approaching the mountains.
    When they discovered these they wanted to put this to the test and see if a ship that weight as much and was shaped like the ark, would it withstand massive tidal waves.

    One of the best tools, or tricks of apologists is the idea that the Bible is not the complete story . So whenever there is some big problem with the bible story as in how Noah was able to build something as extremely complex as a gigantic boat with none of the knowledge skills or skilled workmen to do such a thing well just add on to the story. God gave Noah the knowledge, skills, help, materials to do the job. If feeding, watering, providing breathable nontoxic air and cleaning up after several thousand animals is impossible then we can imagine God i miinaturizing the animals or putting them into a coma or just making the waste material disappear on its own. What a great gift it must be to be able to add on to a story anything you need. Jesus warning not to add or subtract not even a letter or dot from scripture? Who is to say that Jesus did not change his mind or added more details later!

      @Stephen Fox I think that as time goes on, if your interest continues, you might find yourself more drawn to the story of Noah’s Ark. I can’t say what truly happened but isn’t it incredible to think about? I figure that with all the amazing, unexplainable ancient structures and advanced societies around the globe that it’s reasonable and logical to assume that perhaps man was far more skilled, intelligent and amazing than modern man. Idk plus when I think about the times of Noah (assuming it’s true) if man was living for many hundreds of years, wouldn’t it make sense to assume that wisdom, intelligence and skill among these would be profoundly high in contrast to modern times where we live such a short time only having access to the knowledge and experiences of our grandparents during childhood and maybe on into adulthood? Just imagine if you could grow up knowing your great great great great great great grandparents. Man the average person would have had access to many many generations of wisdom. Idk. Please understand I’m not fussing at you or anything. I hope my comment isn’t coming across that way. It’s just that I find all these Bible stories fascinating. I’m passionate about them. Anyway. Happy new year! Best wishes!

      False. The scriptures don't claim to give every single detail. You are making several assumptions yourself. If you read the book Noah's Ark: A Feasibility Study, and Noah's Ark: How it Worked, and Noah's Ark: Thinking outside the box gives calculations and evidence on food, waste, sanitation, ventilation, seaworthiness, etc. Have you read them? Its not a trick, it's that you are adding assumptions.

    • @truthisbeautiful7492
      @truthisbeautiful7492 Před rokem

      Where does Scripture say that Noah didn't know anything? So that is your assumption. Second, where does Scripture say it's impossible to take care of several thousand animals? Nowhere. Nothing in operational science makes it impossible either. Noah's Ark: A Feasibility Study shows the food, water, waste, ventilation necessary, and no miracles are necessary. And that's a worst case scenario. The book Noah's Ark: How it Worked further illustrates how a zoo on a ship isn't impossible. You know that animals have been transported on ships in the past and today, right? You know that ancient kings had zoos, right? You are aware of the life sized model of the Ark built in the Netherlands that can float on the ocean? Have you watched this whole series? It's on Answers in Genesis-Canada channel. It's clear that the Ark was seaworthy. And it's clear that 8 people using simple technology can take care of several thousand mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. I don't think any miracles about miniaturizing animals were necessary - I haven't even heard of that idea - can you give a source of that claim? Since God brought animals to Noah, it does make sense that he would have brought younger animals, such as sauropods which weigh much less when younger. Is that perhaps what you are thinking of? That isn't a miracle, that is just taking younger animals rather then old animals. If you look at the details of the Ark in Noah's Ark: How it Worked, it's actually the extinct mammals and extinct birds that require a surprising amount of space, not the small number of dinosaurs. But guess what, it all fits, with plenty of water and food. I challenge you to actually get a copy of the 3 books mentioned (easy to get on Amazon) and you will see that the Ark is completely plausible. It's not a trick, because the assumptions that you are making aren't in the text of Scripture, not have they been demonstrated by science. Studies have been done on the weight, seaworthiness, food/water/labor, etc of the Ark and it works. Where is the scientific study saying it does not? Nowhere in the text does it say the assumptions you mention, and there hasn't been scientific study demonstrating your other assumptions. I look forward to your reply where you agree to read the 3 books I recommended.

    I think you are over thinking this. We know that the ark had one mission to accomplish and that was to house Noah and his family and all the animals. To do this its main build feature would be SPACE! With the dimensions given in the bible the rectangular shape was the most logical. It had one function and that was to FLOAT! It needed no keel nor rudder or any other feature of a modern ship. It just needed to float on the water since it wasn't 'sailing' anywhere. Want to see a representation of the ark... cut a 2x4 into a 21" piece... you have the ark! You can see other examples of the ark by googling pictures of barges on the Mississippi. If you don't believe that God would watch over it during the yr it was afloat and keep it from any harm (your waves or wind you brought up) then you really don't understand any thing at all about the ark.

    After all the Ark had no destination to sail to, all it had to do was float.
    Same as I question depictions of alien vessels with running lights. Why would they have lights to travel through space? Lights that would be unnecessary with advanced technology that they would obviously need to travel through space.
    The only reason our giant modern aircraft with their advanced radar and gps navigational systems have external lights, is from a customary hangup carried over from the days of the sailing ships, who used lights at night to sail into the harbor and avoid anchored boats already there.

    One square cubit window. Rest of the ark covered with pitch inside and out, so not only watertight, but airtight. The smell would be enough, as they say, to knock a buzzard off a manure spreader. To say nothing of the poor souls who had to clean the pens each day, carry the manure to that twenty inch square window, and heave it out.
