  • What are the biblical kinds of animals that were on Noah’s ark? How many were there? And how could only eight people possibly care for all of them? In this episode of The Genesis Account of Noah’s Ark, Calvin Smith answers all of these questions and more.
This is the sixth episode of a series titled The Genesis Account of Noah’s Ark. You can watch the other episodes here: www.Answers.TV/the-genesis-ac...

    I have some questions.
    1. How did the salt water creatures survive with all this fresh water mixed in? How did the fresh water creatures survive with the salter water mixed in?
    2. You need at least 500 individuals (gene pool) to produce a population. Offsprings by just 2 individuals will result in extinction within 4 generations.
    3. The many carnivores would have required thousands of cows to survive the year. How?

    • @coleedward9642
      @coleedward9642 Před rokem +5

      1. The creatures very well could have been more adaptable back then, thus they were able to survive. Or the oceans weren't as salty, etc. Or, more plausibly, considering 95% of fossil's we've found, are marine creatures. Likely, a lot of them died, and the ones left adapted.
      2. The Bible says the flood occurred when Noah was 600 years old, and it also says he died when he was 950. The Bible also says it was eight people, not two. Noah and his wife, his 3 sons and their wives. My parents had 4 kids within 5 years, so even if it's 2 people to start, assuming each pair had 2 girls 2 boys, within 340 years(17 generations of 20 years), there'd be 524,286 people. We both know it would be safe to assume that they had a much higher birth rate back then, after all they had to populate the world. After all, Abraham, had 8 sons, and it would be fair to say, he would have had a similar amount of daughters. So taking into account, Biblical life expectancies, immediately after the flood, as well as an increased birth rate. It is very possible to repopulate the world. After all, Adam and Eve did it.
      3. Modern zoos, in times of disaster use meat substitutes. There's also been carnivores, who survived without eating meat, such as Little Tyke, a vegetarian lion. They could have brought plenty of meat with them. Or they could have ate fish, especially if a ton of salt/fresh fish died, there would have been plenty to eat.

@@coleedward9642 1) While some water critters can deal with brackish water that's not the majority. I do like though how you say "considering 95% of fossil's we've found, are marine creatures". So you admit fossils are a thing, you accept that science at least. But when you find out the age of those fossiles, like the chalk deposits which are one example of those ancient dead sea critters, you most likely would balk. Limestone is similar, and these deposits have been around for over 100 million years.
      2) I suspect the 2 he was talking about was adam and eve. Regardless, 8 people expanding to 8 billion plus today would require an amazing birth rate and infant survival rate that just has never been possible. And just becase the bible says he was 800 years old doesn't mean he was 800 years old. How did they count years? Did that get translated correctly? Most likely those were lunar cycles, months essentially. 13 of those per year would make an 800cycle person 61.5 years old. And this is vastly more reasonable. And dying at 950 would put him at 73, which was a ripe old age back then.
      3) Regarding the meat alternative, they didn't have that back then. And remember, they had no idea how long they would be at sea. Logistically 8 people could not have cared for even 1,000 animals on that tossing boat. It had a window at the top, that's their access to the outside world. Every single day they need to provide fresh water and food to every animal. They also need to haul all the waste OUT and get it overboard. They also need to butcher animals to divide them up among the various obligate carnivores. And they need to keep the air inside breathable. All those animals and the CO2 levels in that boat would be stifling, potentially lethal. 8 people absolutely could not have managed even a small group of 1,000 animals. Go to any zoon with 1,000 animals. Even the ark encounter itself has a small zoo. They will absolutely have more than 8 people tending the animals. And they have all the modern tools and fresh air.
At some point to make this story work you have only one option. GodMagic. You guys try to claim plasible explanations but no, there aren't any. So eventually you arrive at 'through god all things are possible'. And if you are going to pull that trigger then the ark itself was simply not needed. God had every other option for solving this 'problem' of 'evil' people. A couple of easy ones would be 'reprogram the evil people' or 'delete the evil people'.
But, God being a merciless and abuse drama queen, the writers stole the epic of Gilgamesh and crafted a monogod story from it. And that gave you the story of Noah's ark which for some reason people still think is true.

So, Noah only had to accommodate the land creatures, which contradicts what you have said previously. In a previous presentation you claimed that evidence of the flood could be established due to the large number of fossils of sea creatures found high up in mountain ranges. If sea creatures perished in the flood, evidenced by these fossils, then surely the flood killed them and Noah would have had to accommodate sea creatures as well. Then there is the question of creatures that live in fresh water. A flood would have caused a mixing of salty sea water with fresh water which would definitely have caused the extinction of all fresh water creatures. Do you believe therefore that Noah had to carry fresh water creatures on the Ark?
Surprisingly, your explanation of animal kind supports evolution. You say that the variety of species we see today, "developed" from those Noah took on the Ark. The term developed that you use sounds very like the term evolved used by scientists. Perhaps if you disagree that developed means evolved, you could explain the difference. However, as you seem to be open to the concept of development, I presume you are open to the possibility that all life has developed over time from primitive life forms?
Finally, the story of Noah is all about the destruction of all life on the Planet, apart from those on the Ark and those like the creatures of the seas as you infer, plus I imagine anyone else at the time who had a boat. Why then did your God feel the need for Noah to sacrifice some of the animals he had gone to so much trouble to save? Why does God even require animal sacrifices at all?

This has not helped, grouping animals together does not solve the time problem. 4,500 years is not enough time for those few kinds on Noah's ark, to breed and give rise to all the other members of their particular family.
Added to this, when the flood subsided, all those animals were dumped in one part of the world, from there they had to find safety away from the predators who needed food and then begin breeding to increase their own numbers. Unless you also believe in evolution, two wolves don't suddenly give rise to jackals and other distinct wild dog breeds. The same goes if it was two lions on board, two lions would struggle to reproduce their own kind in enough numbers, let alone breed so well that on just a few thousand years they produce other kinds of cat that live all over the world such as leopards, pumas, cheetah's, Lynx, ocelots, jaguars and tigers etc.
Even evolutionists would struggle to pull off such a theory in just over 4000 years.
Having enough food ( and varieties of food) onboard to feed every creature, removing all the waste, then preventing them killing each other immediately upon release, they are some serious problems. I hope the next video solves these problems.
Up to now, the only way we can believe the ark story, is if the flood was local to Noah and just a few animals were saved.

@@davidgardner863 I'm a Christian really struggling with the global flood theory, so what are you saying Dave? I can appreciate that dinosaurs could have existed 4000 years ago (we have coelacanths alive in the see), but my point was, it would seem impossible for the ark to contain the number of species necessary to produce all the 1.2m (estimated 8million) species, we currently have on Earth today.
How could the Ark possibly have two of every kind?
What about all the plants, insects and animals with specific temperature or dietary requirements?
And even then, how could they breed and where did the new species come from?
I dispute evolution and know that 99% of animal species cannot interbreed, because even those that manage it, always produce infertile offspring.
Once released many animals would also have been killed by all the hungry predators,. leaving even fewer creatures to breed.
So it's difficult to comprehend where all the species came from, how they got to Australia etc.

All dinosaurs except those that evolved into the birds we know today died out 66 million years ago. Evolution of species is a well established fact despite what the creationists tell you. Very helpful arguments, but I do wish your RIDICULOUS visual of the ARK - word means BOX not boat - could be amended, as it does NOTHING for your credibility. The ark was built to FLOAT not navigate, and though I am sure God gave Noah detailed design instructions, I am certain that they did not result in a Viking longboat as you depict - remember all the land was one continent, and there is no evidence of boat building prior to the Flood., i.e no fossilised boats ANYWHERE amid the sediment layers anywhere in the world.

And there isint remains of Noah boat either... So what is your point? And no idea how is all landmases beign one 200+ million yers ago is connected with this fictional story which supposedly took place 5000'ish years ago.
