Canary Motorcycle Tours - Part Four (We ride the most dangerous road in Spain 😱)

  • This video will hopefully show viewers what a fabulous weeks holiday on the island of Gran Canaria with Canary Motorcycle Tours is like. I have made this into a five episode series showing all of the runs we did over the five riding days. Each day turned out to be very different from the last, with a great mix of fabulous roads to ride, all with stunning scenery.
This holiday is definitely, in my opinion, not for the inexperienced rider or someone who has just passed their test. I also wouldn’t recommend going with a pillion. Many of the roads we ride on are very narrow with many tourist rental cars presenting a hazard on some of the very tight corners. It’s important to try, where possible, to keep to the right hand side of the road. This is purely for your own safety.
This holiday I found was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived at the airport, we were picked up by Canary Motorcycle Tours and taken to our hotel for the week. The hotel is on a bed and breakfast basis and is excellent. It’s located within a five minute walk from Canary Motorcycle Tours base which is very convenient. It’s also well located for local restaurants, shops and bars.
I for one, would definitely recommend this holiday and I would certainly love to go back. See below for a link to Canary Motorcycle Tours website for more information.

I have no affiliation with Canary Motorcycle Tours, this is just from own my personal experience.

What a magnificent road, like a ribbon of tarmac draped over the mountains. Those medium weight, mid-capacity bikes seem perfect for the ride 👍

Hi Paul, what a brilliant way to describe the islands fabulous roads, so wish I’d said those words in the video.
The bikes are perfect for the conditions, you would get into so much trouble on larger capacity machines.
Great to hear that you enjoyed the ride 🏍️👍

Thanks Frank, this series of videos were so easy to make. Having such fabulous content to work with was a dream for me.
What’s made it all worthwhile, is the pleasure they’ve brought to so many viewers just like yourself. Great to hear that you enjoyed them 👍

Wow.!! This was the best moto tour that I have watched. The U S in my opinion has no roads that can compare. As I'm riding along from my chair, I was tempted to put my best riding kit on. This was the scariest road that I've viewed and that I would have thoroughly enjoyed riding as one of the group. I think by yourself would have been more stressful. Thanks for the ride-a-long. 👍👍5🏍🙋‍♂️

Thanks again Ian I'm pleased your doing that road and I'm enjoying the scenery but I doubt if I would do that road no head for height's. Keep up the good work

      Hi Ken
      Glad you enjoyed the video.
I’m sure you could easily ride those roads. As you have to keep both eyes on it at all times, you don’t have time to look down 🤣

So beautifull! Don`t you miss your little classic? When i was in the swiss alps, there where flowers for the bicers that died at every corner . Driving like crazy.
Get back save Ian. And so nice you video all those beautifull roads so when you are old (in fifty years), you can look back on a marvellous time.

Great to hear that you enjoyed my video. The little Classic 350 would also have loved those roads, but the 650 V-Strom made them special.
I’m old now so don’t have to wait 50 years, I’ll be watching the videos in the care home in a few years time 🤣

      Hi Mark
I was very lucky being able to get out there and experience those amazing roads. Some of the best riding I’ve ever done, simply stunning.
It’s also great to have hear that you’ve enjoyed the series, hopefully it’s brought some sunshine into your day 👍
The weather here at the moment is pretty grim, it can only get better.
Perhaps I’ll see you at the next Wee Smokey on the 14th April.
      Ride safe 🏍️👍

I didn’t see as much of the scenery at the time either, that’s what makes this series of videos so special. They bring the memories flooding back 😁

      Hi Steve
So please to hear that you enjoyed my video, it’s one I loved making.
As for the 650 V-Strom, I’ve been troubled by it ever since I came home. I simply loved that bike, I want one in my garage but don’t want to get rid of any of the bikes I’ve got and can’t justify having four bikes. It’s a terrible dilemma to have 🤣

The GC200 is still my all-time favourite road. Agate was the place you stopped for lunch. It's also where you can catch the Fred Olson ferry to the other islands.
Keeping right close to the crash barrier and drop to the sea takes concentration.
Don't know if you were able to walk up to the massive rockfall when you parked the bikes up the closed section?
As I remember, the ride back takes you past the world's biggest catus attraction 🤔
There's also some good riding on Tenerife if you ever return

      Hi Banditman
Oh yes, the GC200 is one very special road, absolutely fabulous.
We actually stopped for lunch in Sardina that day in a fabulous restaurant at the waters edge, excellent meal. Other than that the run was exactly as you described, including the giant cactus 🤣
I loved it so much I’m planning to go back for more in November. It could become very addictive, what’s not to love 🏍️☀️⛰️😁👍
