    Harley rolled out a new lineup of bikes! People's reactions have been varied across the board. Some people love the new bikes, some hate em. Loads are upset the Dyna has seemingly been absorbed by the Softail line (that's another video entirely.)
    If you end up purchasing a Harley because of one of my videos, let the dealership know 'Blockhead' was your referral! Harley says they'll donate to the channel if so!

    I've watched this video probably 5 times. Had my murdered out street bob delivered 2 days ago. 100% in love with it. You're right about that seat tho lol. Otherwise, one hell of a bike. Massive power, comfortable, looks great, handles like it's on rails!!! Of course, I had to roll the mini-apes forward as soon as I got it

    Bought one of these yesterday after having about 7 street bikes and a dirtbike. Came with some 12in apes (pretty sure it's 12) and Stage 1. Now I'll finish up the look and upgrade to 200 rear tire and shorty bobbed out rear fender. Can't wait! Got it up to 70mph on city streets during my test ride and jizzed a little. Different kind of fun than the street bikes I'm use to.

    I still prefer the "old" look with the speedo on the tank like the 2016 the other guy was riding. Mine is a 2015. The new ones remind me of a sportster.

      Since the 1200 Sportster was one of the most entertaining rides I had on a Harley (even compared to my Low Rider S), I don't think it's a bad thing when the new Street Bob reminds you of a Sportster..

  • @steelcitychamps12
    @steelcitychamps12 Před 5 lety

    I love mine. It is a blast. The usb actually is a fast charging usb. Yes it is cramped, but you don't feel the heat of the engine unless you are stopped for a moment. It is bad ass as hell though. Zero to 60 in seconds. Seat is slippery but also the torque pulls you off the seat as much as anything.

    its funny that harley purposely made the tank smaller for the specific reason of being able to see the rocker boxes better because they worked hard on making them aesthetically pleasing. im not even kidding, harley said that in the official press release. but hey at least you have a beautiful engine to admire when your on the side of the road out of gas

      Ryan's V-Twin Vlogs it is “technically” liquid cooled. Just not water cooled. The street line has water cooling also. But those are just glorified mopeds.

  • @LifeProducersofNewJerseyLLC

    That LCD speedometer is a real shortcoming of the bike. HD would be better to at the very least have taken the speedometer from the Iron 883 and put that in the LCD's place. Still better would be to have the Soft Tail Slim's speedometer as standard on this model since the engine is the same. Maybe even better, a choice of speedometers for the buyer.

  • @wtom1420
    @wtom1420 Před 6 lety

    Showa did a great job on the new suspensions for 2018, and Porsche did an excellent job on the new Milwaukee 8 motors. Depending on the model, you get Brembo brakes or Chinese Brakes. The wiring harnesses are produced in Japan, Mexico and China so they promise to be pretty bullet proof unlike Ducati. The wheels are from Australia and look great. Other parts from Germany, India, Brazil and Southeast Asia seem to be getting better though production issues did cause delays. Also, keep in mind, Bobbers by their nature have minimal seats and aren't meant for long rides. Some custom Bobbers have sheet metal seats.
    I noticed a motorcycle officer in the background at the Dealership. I thought all Police Departments had stopped using Harley Davidsons due to their testing and resultant findings of the "Death Wobble". There are videos showing the actual Police testing and the bikes wobbling all over the place. Harley has faced several lawsuits. Perhaps the new design of the Softail frame, and the absorption of the Dyna line with the new frames addresses that issue.

    • @wtom1420
      @wtom1420 Před 6 lety

      @Trenton Reid: Porsche designed the motor in conjunction with HD. The entire motor isn't made in Menomonee Falls. The pistons at the very least come from Austria. The majority of cast wheels come from Australia. The Street models are made in the Bawal, India "knockdown" plant and shipped here to be assembled for the US market. Some of the motor parts are produced here.
      Below is Paraphrased from some of my research:
      "Technically speaking, Harley-Davidson motorcycles sold in the United States are not actually made here, but assembled here. Harley contracts manufacturing of parts to plants located all over the world, including Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Japan, and Mexico. Those parts are then shipped to Harley factories here. And these are not just accessories, but components for engines, chassis, and wheels. Exactly what percentage of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle is American made, is not exactly known, as each model and model year is different.
      Back in 1929, Harley-Davidson contracted with a manufacturing plant in Hiroshina, Japan. Rikuo Internal Combustion Company produced actual Harley-Davidson models that carried the Harley-Davidson label, for use by Japanese military and police. Rikuo continued under contract until 1958.
      Harley-Davidson motorcycles are also made in Manaus, Brazil. The factory there opened in 1998 and continues to produce Harley models for the Brazilian market.
      In 2011, the company announced plans to open a factory in India to produce the new Street 500 & 750 models.
      Harley-Davidson has expressed interest in moving it's US-based factories overseas due to expensive employee costs. The recession of 2008 caused the company's value to drop by 43% in 2009. Harley's American rival, Polaris Industries, manufactures Indian and Victory motorcycles using an outside staffing service.
      Harley-Davidson is also seeing a shift in the overall motorcycle demographic. Riders are becoming younger. The baby-boomer market that Harley had relied on is going away. Younger riders tend to favor smaller motorcycles and place less importance on American-made products.
      So, where are Harley-Davidson motorcycles made? All over the world, actually. But those sold in America, are assembled here in the United States, using a lot of foreign made parts.
      At least for now, anyway."
      Harley's newest plant in Thailand is expected to begin production in 2018.
      My research may be a little dated. Perhaps HD is manufacturing more than anticipated in the NorthEast, but the fact remains that the majority of the parts to complete a unit is manufactured elsewhere. HD cannot claim "Made in the USA" because of it.
      Both of my past Harleys weren't reliable, leaked profusely, and ruined my experience of being an owner. I'm happy to see HD take strides into the 20th century and even the 21st century. Their bikes are more reliable, but the cost/value isn't there. They need to improve the design and implementation of their products, and realistically, it can't be done solely in the US. If HD were to continue to completely manufacture and assemble here, a Sportster would cost $50K.
      I was pleasantly surprised with the new Milwaukee 8 107, and the new Showa suspension on a Road King test drive. However, the salesman sharpening his pencil down to $23K was ridiculous. I could almost buy a house in the mid-West or (2) 3 year old F-150's for that amount of money.
      One of my friends has been a loyal HD rider for over 30 years. Recently, he decided to move his bike up to his weekend house. Servicing before the move cost nearly $2,200.00. He decided at the same time to service his wife's Dyna since she doesn't ride it anymore, and he'll ride it around town. That service bill was nearly $1,200.00. He said no more. He's done with Harley, going to sell his and buy an Indian.

    Good review. For me the problem with the shorter frame bikes has been the seat , I always find myself naturally, as I ride, finding I am sitting farther back and my tail bone is taking all the pressure. A little taller and set back seat would be good, maybe a Police style solo. And as for the tank volume, would not a 2016 Street Bob larger tank still fit? And personally, I like the new headlight brightness and look.

    So my feelings on going to the dealer for a test ride are the same as yours, it’s the only way to cop a good feel. I will be test riding this week. I am curious on your opinion on how the new soft tail suspension compares to your low rider dyna though. You didn’t really say much on how it handles...I know it’s a completely different bike but, if you had to do a direct comparison between the two in regards to if the suspension feels better, similar or worse...How it leans into and out of turns, etc. What are your thoughts? I think the bike looks killer though, that All Black. Yessir. Would most likely drop the bars to a set a bit less “ape” And move to a forward foot control setup. Let me know about that handling thing though!

    I actually find the new upright kickstand problematic... Even on mild slopes, it feels like it's gonna drop... My iron fell twice on me while unattended... A mere breeze is all it takes.

      Floyd Mphaka if you know how to ride already, yes. If not, then no. Try a Honda Rebel if you wanna start with a good starter bike, then sell that sucker & buy your Harley when you’re better prepared, just an opinion :)

    Anyone looking into the street bob, I would recommend the dyna version of it. I test rode the 2018 and was not impressed. The ride was good but felt so cramped (I’m 5’11”). I didn’t feel much difference between the 107 and the dyna 103. It’s all preference so ride your ride. Just my two cents. Test ride both if you have the option.

    • @rebel_ltz
      @rebel_ltz Před 6 lety

      It's not the 4 cubic inches. It's the new frame, the new suspension, the cooler engine, the ABS, etc. You can put forward controls on the 2018 as well.

    • @joeyedmonds3658
      @joeyedmonds3658 Před 6 lety

      tom rebel I understand that. I bought a 2018 Fat Bob 114 so I know why there is a lure to the Softails. I was just giving my small opinion. Some people when they buy a $17000 bike don’t wanna spend another $500 on forward controls. And ABS is an option from what I can tell on a Street Bob. Still not standard but I could be wrong on that.

    • @joeyedmonds3658
      @joeyedmonds3658 Před 6 lety +1

      tom rebel as I said, test ride both if you can. Don’t take my word for it. It’s just my observation.

    • @joeyedmonds3658
      @joeyedmonds3658 Před 6 lety

      tom rebel Thank You! That’s where the misunderstanding lies. It is an option in US. Only comes standard on the bikes with 114ci and the street lineup I believe.

    The chirp isn’t from power, it’s from the massive rotating mass in the engine. Change gear too quick, and the flywheel effect of the motor is too much to slow down, so shoots you forward.
