  • Recently, actress Busy Philipps went viral when she got vocal about where he stands on who is losing weight loss medication and why - and the double standard men and women face:
“The entire culture is built around shaming and being horrible, especially to women who are overweight…” she told “Lovett or Leave It” host Jon Lovett. “All these motherf****s have been on HGH (Human Growth Hormone) forever. I never saw one f****g Time magazine cover about it. The men are all on HGH. That’s why all the superheroes and movie stars have been so fit after age 40. What do you think has happened? They’re on drugs!” the actress noted. “Then all of a sudden [these drugs] come along and people are like, ‘Oh, that’s a f-king big deal.’ Like, ‘We can’t have that.’ What in God’s name do you think has been happening?” Philipps continued. “It’s all … people hate women so much. We didn’t create the system that we live in.”
In this video, Busy sits down with Oprah to go deeper on her opinions - and why at age 44, she’s “sick of answering questions that men have never had to consider.”
The segment was part of “Making the Shift,” which aired on May 9 to a live studio audience, unpacks the multifaceted, preconceived notions we have about weight, from the profound impact diet culture has had on our society to how we can reframe harmful narratives surrounding our weight and our bodies. The conversation - featuring Rebel Wilson, Busy Philipps, Amber Riley, and many others - brought together individuals, communities and medical experts to bridge the science of “weight” with a new outlook that brings the health and wellbeing of our bodies into focus.

I don’t know what being overweight feels like but I do know what being underweight feels like and have been mocked, teased and shamed for being skinny my whole life. ⁣

I have four kids, am going through menopause and am at the same weight I was as a teen. ⁣

Sometimes it’s not about health or weight it is simply genetics and it’s horrible people cannot be who they are without shame, labels or stigmas. ⁣

If this medication helps people well GOD bless them and best wishes. I just wish we didn’t live in a world that shames people for who they are.

Sadly I get that not being in the picture, my kids are 26 and right at 20 and I have very few photos with them in the last 10 years . PCOS insulin resistance and now menopause have me at my highest weight . Even now as a type 2 diabetic and on a glp1 for the past year and 1/2 I have only 40lbs and I just want to get back down to at least where I was when I got married and that is still 45lbs away.

I applaud your effort and hard work, but don't wait for the magic day because the magic day never comes-we as women move goal posts on ourselves over and over because the sad truth is, we will never be good enough for that hateful little voice that lives in our heads. Like Busy said, GET IN THE PICTURE! And that doesn't just mean literally in the photograph-it means get in your life, get in the driver seat, get into the starring role of your own story. And like Busy said, fake it till you make it and slowly but surely the confidence will come and you will begin to love that person in the mirror a bit more each day simply because you've been able to shift perspective. From one woman and mama to another, you got this, and we women have each other!! Best of luck hun!!

If you hate our bodies being up for debate so much, why are you endorsing weight loss medication?
