Everyone is praising her in the comments. She used this drug instead of … or accepting that your body might be able to maintain a 145 pounds instead of 127 pounds. How is she maintaining such a low weight? I can get “skinny” but I have to do it by very low calories and lots of cardio, but I cannot maintain it without obsessive behavior and quite the financial commitment. Maybe she genuinely fears using this drug after her experience, but this story added nothing to the conversation. Everything in it is already known, already discussed.
I know she is known for being badass but this was good PR. Maybe she feared the negative criticism because people where looking at how skinny she was and gossiping about it. When are we going to get real? Why didn’t she “get real.”

Because of doctors prescribing Ozympic for weight loss, people like my husband, a type 2 diabetic could no longer get it and was changed to a different drug. It did not work as well and was very new on the market. Less than a year later he had a massive heart attack and passed away. He should never have had to change drugs due to dieters. @@ukmedicfrcstype 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes are completely different. Type 1 a person has from birth and they do not produce insulin at all, so the only medication that they can take is insulin. Other than insulin the other diabetic medications do not work for type 1 diabetes, I don’t know why type 1 was even mentioned in the comment above because Ozempic is not insulin. Y’all need to get your facts straight. Also I can tell you that there have been many medications for all different types of diseases that people actually need have been on the shortage list, I know this from personal experiences. I am also a Type 2 diabetic and have been working very hard trying to reverse it. I have been on oral medication for quite awhile (years) and changed my eating habits and still couldn’t lose the weight or get my A1C down to a non- diabetic level, so my physician (who also monitors me and my blood levels every 3 months put me on Ozempic and it has been life changing for me as first and most importantly my A1C is down to pre- diabetic levels and I am finally losing the weight that I need to lose to not be considered obese, as my goal is to lose the weight and to live a healthier lifestyle so I can get off of most if not all of my medications. Especially since I also have a heart murmur that has become more pronounced over the past couple of years. So my point is no Ozempic is not a cure all, as you have to change your diet and lifestyle, it is also not something that everyone should be taking just because they want to lose weight as there should be at least other health factors, and those who are not being monitored closely by a physician definitely should not be given or taking any kind of prescription medication.

I was (am) a LT member of Weight Watchers. I haven't attended meetings since Covid and while I know at this point I could certainly return to those meetings I have lost respect for that organization since they now promote Ozempic. The reason I first joined was because of their concept of (1) teaching people to make better food choices (2) understanding that people need to be more active. Although I realize WW would (hopefully) only suggest this drug for the small majority of it's members, just the fact that they are rubs me wrong. I remember where there was a time when it took changing your lifestyle for the better to make the changes you'd like. Apparently now they and too many doctors are in partnership with drug manufactures. In my perfect world there would be no drug commercials on TV or radio. Go back to the days when your doctor would discuss with you lifestyle options and then, if needed, medications could be discussed.

I qualify for ozempic. I have fatty liver, don’t drink or use drugs, it’s the non alcoholic fatty liver. I’m stage 1, so there is time for me to save my liver. I’m giving it an honest go before using ozempic. So far, I’ve lost 25 pounds by intermittent fasting and making better food choices. I’m waiting to loose more weight to exercise. I have a physical disability that makes it difficult to walk and impossible to run, but I’m going to buy a stationary bike and elliptical machine in hopes I can do it. I also do not want to take away from severe diabetics who need the drug. So far, I’m doing well. I just hope I keep it up. Good luck to all of you trying to get healthy. You can do it!!!

You will lose more fat by building muscles through exercises on the floor or with weights (once you can do those with just your body weight comfortably). Don't go for cardio for weight loss. That's only good to exercise your heart. For weight loss, strength training.

    • @XOChristianaNicole
      @XOChristianaNicole Před 4 měsíci +5

      Don’t focus on cardio.
Not being able to run shouldn’t be an issue.
Focus on weight-training and muscle building.
I’d highly recommend looking into calisthenics.
You don’t need external weights or do go to a gym.
It’s all based on using your own body weight, to build muscle.
And I am not talking about becoming big and bulky.
Though, cardio will deplete muscle - and muscle is the absolute key to longevity and health; and the more muscle one has, the better their metabolic system is.
Especially, when it comes to fatty liver.
      Also, don’t focus on “weight-loss.”
      Focus on “fat-loss.”
Because weight-loss can indicate a loss in fat - or muscle.
And the absolute last thing anyone wants (unless they are a body builder and in their cutting season ) - is to lose muscle.
The more muscle One gains - the more calories their body will burn, in the process of doing so.
Also, be careful with cardio and intermittent fasting., in combination.
Both of such, cause a release in cortisol - which, also, drops progesterone.
It’s not that all stress is bad, for the body.
Though, you don’t wanna over do it, ‘cause this will deplete more muscle.
And as I stated - muscle health is the key to longevity and proper metabolic function.

I have a friend who wanted it for weight loss and went to basically a spa and got the prescription from a nurse practitioner. And her prescription was for 12 mg. That's crazy . That's probably why these people are having horrible side effects because their doses are ridiculously high because they want to shed the weight quickly. What they don't realize is as soon as they stop taking it they will regain at minimum 2/3 of what they lost

Look up "gastroparesis", and understand that a large part of how this drug works is by mimicking that condition. it also triggers your pancreas to release more insulin, which helps clear glucose out of the blood stream, which is why it's used for diabetes. However that process has problems too. It can lead to acute pancreatitis, and worsens the problem of insulin resistance.

So I did some research on Olympic watch women tell me how they took it and made them deathly ill throw up and be nauseous all the time and I said hell no toes Olympic. I have lost 44 lb I'm down to 124 and I did it by watching what I ate I'm watching my blood glucose numbers and I am so happy that I did not take Olympic.

If someone has physical issues and literally can't exercise then it's almost impossible to lose any decent amount of weight. You'll hit a plateau you can't get past unless you add exercising, which you can't do. I know several people like this. One has a blown out knee and badly damaged hip from an accident and the other has a severe lower back injury. Neither will be getting better and can barely manage to walk at all. Both have gained a lot of weight since their injuries so this drug would be their only way of getting that weight off, which will help them manage with their injuries. So for some people who need to lose weight this drug would be a godsend.

I was taking Trulicity with good success, but my local pharmacies told me they don’t know when they will get more. It could be as late as December 2024. When I asked why, they told me that the overprescribing of Ozempic for weight loss caused a shortage of THAT medication, which drove doctors to prescribe Trulicity for weight loss, which caused its shortage in the dosage most prescribed to diabetics. Now I have to take Victoza.

Threw the Metformin in the trash after a week of use generated horrible leg cramps. 2023: I've gracefully lost 50 pounds, just had a check up and I am in better than average shape for my age group. If they are the same drug why not just manufacture more ozempic and be done with it. Having a second drug exactly the same but advocated just for weight loss is a scam as it costs four times more, just because it's for weight loss. And if diabetics can't get hold of ozempic due to shortages, why can't they just get wegovy instead. This all seems to be more about money than health.

I've found no recourse or attorney willing to sue the compound pharmacy that provided the generic prescription to my doctor. Scarred for life & it has probably lowered my life expectancy. I'm lucky as there have been deaths reported.

Maybe a month. I never even got up to full dosage. I went back to the doctor. Told him of the severe side affects along with an emergency room visit. He suggested I "give it another go" as the nursing staff had good luck with it. This was a year ago. It landed me in the hospital for over a month with 2 emergency surgeries & sepsis. I almost DIED. I have a 3rd major surgery on my gut scheduled for next week. I'll be hospitalized for approximately 1 week more.
I saved the unused meds, paperwork & astronomical hospital bills.
Some of the stories I've been told about side affects are horrendous. Including a single mom of 4 committing suicide after taking it because it messes with dopamine.

2 weeks into my ozempic treatment, I have not changed what I eat, other than ensuring each of my meals is high in protein and slightly lower in fat, as well as eating a breakfast everyday. I used to skip breakfast. I still like reach for chips when Im stressed and hungry but I find that I can now have half a single serve bag and put away in the fridge and not think about it for a few days. I used to eat a whole 170g sharing bag with dinner each night!
I have noticed my clothes are ever so slightly less tight, but the number on the scale hasnt moved, neither is my waist measurement.
I used to eat sandwiches for dinner, but now I can have a standard bun, a slice of cheese, 2 extra lean beef patties and an apple and move on to something else to do. Not a small meal by any measures, but a tremendous cut back compared to my usual. No side effects, but I have broken down in tears twice in the last week. I'm not sure if it is the drug or my situation.

I’ve seen this used on friends with type 2 diabetes with excellent results for them but then there were friends that saw the advantage of losing 20 lbs have had horrible affects. Not only causing serious medical problems but physically their bodies and faces look distorted and morbid. As long as big pharma and the medical community can make a profit people will continue to be Guinea pigs because all they see is a thinner person without understanding the consequences of this drug. It’s so unfortunate that those adults and children who need this medication are the ones left to the side cause their is more money to be made on vanity then a cure.
