Bill, your reviews are impressive. I appreciate your personal experience and insight into the actual running and use of the boat. I've learned much about and recognized how valuable a Captain and first mate would be for longer passages. Very impressive indeed.
Thank you for the kind words. My goal is to help those that are currently and newly getting involved in yachting. I hope to make more educational videos in the future and these words encourage me to do so.
That shaft setup is sweet. Exposed shafts should be kind of dinosaur-ish for today's boats. On old boats where the exposed shaft enters a fiberglass hull, and that fiberglass mount has a brass cutlass bearing has always seemed cringey to me. Bill, are all Marlows designed that way?
It would’ve been nice to see some overall views of the whole boat. In the beginning of the video, you only gave us one view on the starboard side for one second.
Unfortunately I was unable to get the boat out for video and running shots. It happens sometimes because weather and tide situations. Port side looks exactly the same and the starboard. This yachts is in great shape.
C18’s 1015 hp each
Engine oil is changed at an hour or time interval. Even if an engine only has 50 hours on it the oil should be changed every year. Metals dissolve into a solution and condensation gets water into the oil. In a commercial application it’s all about hours, in a pleasure-craft application it’s often time , vs hours. Big mistake owners make is watch hours and not time. Oil samples on a boat with oil that has 50 hours on it that is 2 years old will not be good.
Did i miss the size of the diesels.
Must be using really crappy oil or really crappy gen set engines to be having to change oil at 168 hrs. of run time. I am speaking as a marine engineer.
