  • After Jesus miraculously filled the nets with fish on the Sea of Galilee, Peter was so awestruck that he begged Christ to leave. In this sermon, R.C. Sproul continues his series in the gospel of Luke, describing the moment when Peter realized who was standing in the boat with him.

Convinced and convicted. Now I confess my sin. I haven't forsaken all when I go back and pick it up again. I pick up issues that I cannot do anything about. I give it to the LORD and continue thinking about it. I need to trust God and give all of those cares to Him. Now today I have forsaken all to follow Him. I'm saved by the blood. I repent for I am guilty 😔 I am a sinner saved by God and by His grace alone. Now Lord upon my profession this day please forgive me and replace my heart of stone with a heart of flesh. Make me the a servant in your kingdom. Unless I forsake all I am not fit for your kingdom. Bless your Holy Name! By your Spirit and power I pray in your Son Jesus's name Amen 💕 Thank God for the power of the preached Word of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It's amazing how our Lord gives us new desires and new hearts. When before I felt nothing for Jesus, my soul is awakened to a deep, deep need for Him and all of Him. It's so confounding to realize how our world is just so upside down. We think we're the center of it all, we think we humans are good and independent--but we're broken, damaged and lost people that has never seen the light before God came into our lives. No wonder we are to be so fully dependent on Him--our old natures were evil, wretched. Why in the world would us humans be so antagonistic against the God who authored love, kindness, humility, truth? Is it not because we truly were wretched? It is by Him and Him alone. That He would free us from all deception and evil. Like coming out of an age-old system, where we were completel y brainwashed by the world, and we have finally been pulled into truth. We need to cry SAVE ME, SAVE ME OH LORD, lest I stumble back into this false, dead world.

I believe Peter doubted Jesus and only obeyed him to maybe prove him wrong. When he realised who he was he couldnt bear to be in his presence having thought so badly about the living Messiah.

I love how human Peter is...he signals to his partners so that no other fishermen hear of his "luck" and take over his fishing hole.
