Thanks man, it really helped me and I my xbox landscape now and it opens up by itsself now without me having to smash the side of my xbox just to get my disc tray open.
@PDattaTV Your lasers starting position is messed up from shuting your xbox off when the disc tray is open. You have to open unassenble your xbox and dvd drive and put the laser where it will reach the disc...

I had 2 broken xboxes here, I opened them both, checked everything, even the inside. The inside was working as far as I could see but I was still getting the open tray error. Then I kept searching and I stumbled on this post, I tried it and it worked. Now when I use it, it sometimes still doesn't work, but when I try the second time it just works like normal. No damage to my xbox or my cd's are caused by this! So thanks alot!
What i did was i push the button to open tray then i wiggled the tray then I closed the tray by sliding the tray manually and it worked :) what a relief, cause I was about to bash the hell out of its error bullshit and show it who the boss is, tehehe :D

Just gotta say, IT WORKS with my scratched Dragon's Dogma and original fat 360 model! I'm gonna try placing a heavy object on the same location on top of my console, instead of having to bang on my system everytime I want to play and see if that works also.
@SuperSwagJerks well first open it then take your laser open the case and there will be two screws near the tape the one on your left is for cds other for dvds tighten the cd one to the left little bits at a time with a PHILliphs screw driver and if it dosent work keep doing it till it works good luck

Now if this simply doesn't work do everything again but on the app twitch, if u don't have twitch then download it, ok load up twitch, go back down to open tray (if it still says it) click open then close it and as soon as it says reading repeatedly tap A and a message saying are u sure u want quit the session or something like that, simply press yes and u shall be granted the power to play any game on the console. Ok guys hope this helped again not sure if u really do have to download twitch but try it on any app and u should be granted..

hey can any one help my xbox does have this problem but it doesnt say reading it justs saya open tray as soon as you put the disk inside so i tryed to hold the dist tray in side but stilll it didnt work and my xbox is almost new only a year and 1 month
@SuperSwagJerks Uhm if you have a warinty go return it! If not give it ur xbox a rest. Clean ur cd clean ur disk drive. Take all ur wires out an replug it. Opening ur xbox will void its warinty
I dont know if anyone here has tried this, but it worked for me...If you go to "my xbox" then "settings", from there go to "memory"...once you get there hit the Y button on any option..."clean system cache" then try your game...IT WORKED FOR ME!!
@CosmicAscension2012 No m8, after it reads it goes to open tray watch the video. My laser is out of place i checked and hitting will bring it back but its not permanent.
Do it right and buy a replacement or get it fixed. You can also try to do the POT repair yourself but if you haven't done anything like this before it's not a good place to start.
Ok does anyone know why my Xbox says "can't read disk" while I play games that are fully downloaded off the marketplace. It also occurs randomly throughout C.D. games. I have tried many different C.D.s and many different downloaded games and the same thing happens. It randomly says "cant read disk". This really confuses me due to the fact that a lot of my games do not have a disk.

a nother way is to leave ur xbox on 4 a long time sothe glue on the disc reader melts and when it melt it will loosen, so when it loosens it will start spinning again. if this helped u plz tell some other people this answer.
I tried opening slamming the x box tray and a whole bunch of this other stuff it didnt work. This was simple and it 100% worked thank you I'm going to play call of duty now.

@cendris123 when u don't put a disk in the tray, it should say reading than it should say open tray. I'm guessing that your disk drive is ruined.

It works! You can even just use your knuckles to GENTLY rap on the top, worked first try. And I have the Xbox 360 Slim version.

@shysta11That is the disk I did this on and it came on first try. Tap as soon as the tray closes or before.
