I’ve always loved the swayback on upsmash, but it feels like the payoff got nerfed every game - is it just my imagination?

I love how even the fundamental characters still have evolving metagames
This one has been used a decent amount for some time, but it's good that more Ikes are being made aware at this point.
Ike never ceases to surprise me
You actually can use Usmash OOS to cover a multiple options as well, especially if the opponent misspaces their aerial on your shield. Because of the 25 frame start up at the front, the opponent can be put into a situation where they either have to spotdodge because they are within grab range (somehow), or shield, dash away, jump to reset pressure, or even roll in to avoid the shieldgrab. Sorry for my wording btw but you'll get what I mean in a moment.
If the opponent misspaces a safe-on-shield move (-8 or safer), and they immediately buffer roll-in or spotdodge to avoid the grab, they'll get hit. If they try to reset shield pressure by jumping again, there's a good chance you'll low profile their attack or hit them out of the air if they go for a cross up. While it's not nearly as applicable at in advantage, it still has its uses over Aether OOS.
Or you know, you could just wait for them to choose an option, *then* use Aether OOS.

Already knew about this one as a shield break set up and to dodge/punish some grabs but the few times I've attempted it I got punished, but is great to see someone taking the time to explain it properly and the range of options it covers. GGs
Been doing this since the start of the game. It's a great option. I've broken a few shields and gotten some straight up kills off of someone trying to hit me lol
As soon as I saw the title I knew it was gonna be up smash it has so much shocking use

Ive been seriously maining ike since smash 4, and ive used up smash like this even back then. My friends play very respectfully of this move. I don't spam it of course, but use it in these situations and to catch jumps.

Play whoever you find fun!
In smash ultimate, practically every character is viable. Even the bottom tier characters can see success at tournaments. For example, Peanut and Hungrybox main characters that are considered bottom 5, but they are still great players.

This is a nice little trick.
You know his real secret weapon is indeed ragnell. But Ragnell is both a throwing sword and has a magic blade beam like cloud. He just chooses not to use either in smash.
