Sam Pham 2K18 Tutorials #1 - Hry
Glad to see you back Sam Pham! Can't wait to practice these moves
First Sam Pham tutorial since he's been back. I'm too hyped!
Love the detail you put into these tutorials. Like stopping the sequence of the rythim dribble. And so much more. Still watching ;)
I'm soooo late but this a great video. Really helped me learn how to dribble way better than before. Im already a subscriber but I liked the video! Keep doing your thing bro fr!! Much love from Florida!!
This is pure gold. You rock Sam Pham.
Thank you!
Highest quality, most well informed tutorials on youtube. Sam you're the man, my vietnamese brother
Nice to see you again doing some nba2k tutorials again Sam.
Sam, im starting here & gonna watch all your tutorials. Super helpful. Phamily
Take it slow. Best way to do it is watch it first then try it watch it again then combine them as you play. Don’t worry about W OR L at first just get the reps in
Thank you so much, Sam! You've really helped me improve my game.
Very high quality video. Better than all the others I've seen who only look for the fake spam dribbles they utilize on the park. Truly understanding how and when to flick the right stick based on the separation it creates is how you win isolations plays. Liked subbed and notifications turned on. Thanks for this.
Hey bro, just subbed. Great tutorials. Since I'm complete newbie and trying to move my game from Pro to higher difficulty - your guides are exactly what I needed. Especially I find this first one very useful, since I've never understood how to make efficient dribble combos. Even though I'm still only 65 overall thanks to those easy combos I get way more some easy assists and points in paint. Not to mention my tds went down like 50%.
Would be grateful for some advice about best rythm dribble/crossover to explode to paint. I found that basic one I had at start works better than Curry's since latter one pushes me bit too far away (I think it's better suited for 3pt iso).
Anyways keep up the great work.
Incredible videos my brother. I just made my first PG two days ago. Your other video helped teach me to run the point, and this one is a game changer
Sam Pham your videos are the best HOMIE!!!!!!
Sam throwin' some shade at terrible 2k youtubers. Love it. I swear all those other youtubers do is yell during their videos.
Joel Fisk yea lol they lack creativity so they think screaming and over exaggerating will make up for lack of effort.
CreatedbyLeon Couldn't have said it better!
Speak for yourself. I find Sams videos really entertaining. I know you're probably playing devils advocate, but I think we all know who the best 2ktuber is. I can't tell you how many videos I've watched about 2k18 from other youtubers that I had to shut off midway through because the guy won't stop yelling, lol.
OOOO DAS A BLOCK BABEEEEE BOOOOOY. LEESSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!1
Doesn't do it for me, family.
The entertainers gotta do what their viewers wanna see I get that. What i have "shade" against or an eclipse (lol) is the ones who make tutorials or tips that aren't good. Or the ones the give information about the game but don't really know what they are looking at. THOSE i can't stand.
Don't be so quick to write yourself off as not being an entertainer. I understand your videos serve legit purpose in the form of tutorials, but you've had a few series that were really entertaining (GM mode for the Nuggets was awesome). I find the the tutorials themselves to be great entertainment, because I understand how much thought, consideration, and time goes into their creation.
Having said that, I eagerly await your Defensive Tutorial for this year. Keep up the good work Phamily!
Great vid Sam, as always. Curious if you're ever using escape or counter moves WITHOUT holding in turbo, because I know some of the moves are slightly different. Maybe they're less successful, may try it out myself. I ask...because if I drive to the hoop holding in turbo I sometimes find myself in a situation where everything is moving too fast and it's hard to counter or kick out and I'm then just dribbling in to traffic.
Anyone else watch this and feel like its easy enough but then you start playing and you forget what the fuck to do? 😂😂😭😭
Sam you make thw best vids bring alot of dribble moves all year long
Yes i plan to do that more this year since new dribble system so fun lol
Love your work, as usual!
Good to watch your tutorial again!!
Good video Sam I'm so glad you're back
Tim Thompson haven't been following Sam videos. Where has he been?
Always nice to hear from you haha
I'm always following him bro so chill
Tim Thompson you misunderstood me. I said I haven't been following him. Where has he been did he take time off?
Really great work man!
You always have the best tips help me step my game up.
Thanks for good tutorials!! I have a question. Which button is better to shoot between r3 or square button?
Thank you, thank you, thank you - the one and only tutorial that has worked for me
Good video. Keep up good work.
Love this! Thanks so much!
Ayyye some REAL dribbling
You deserve a reward for all your work! So helpfull!ne info on player builds? i really wonder how much the oenalty will be on defending when u make your player lightweight, will it actually help you outspeeding every one and does it really let you be pushed around like crazy?
thanks for the tips bruh🔥🔥🔥
Hey, quick question. I normally play with Broadcast camera because I find the 180 degree sudden turns disorienting on change of possession. In this video for the stepback you said to flick the right stick "away from the basket. Is that relative to the screen or the player? On my screen if he's standing at the middle of the 3 point line, the basket will be either on the left of the screen or the right (depending on which half it is.) If the basket is on the left, do I flick the right stick to the right? Or still down?
great video. I will try all these moves.
So glad you're back, my Asian brother. Yoshhh
Romeo Love yup me too, go Japanese Sam!
like a sum boooodeeeeee what is bald hang and mooth becuss. where is your friend wong?
Thank you for this vid man. I dunno if you've done it but can you make a video on WHEN to use dribble moves?
So I remember learning from you about substitutions with the quick subs and monitoring their energy so that it doesn't drop to 80.
Now the quick subs don't show energy anymore - do you just need to use timeouts to figure out stamina now or just pause the game? Any tricks?
Awesome videos. You give excellent instructions and I'm actually able to do the moves as you describe them :)
Thats why i work so hard on the details of the videos haha Glad to hear it :) makes my day
Amazing video! Thank you
He's back
This is my first 2k so this helped a lot, great video
+Jcrane17 check out the other tutorials on the playlist. They should all help you a ton :)
Sam pham back lets go
Thank you :)
Helllz yeaaah!! new sub ryt here!!!
Nice video. Thanks bro
Man u jus got another sub I've been trying to find some simple easy dribble moves and not those crazy spamming complicating dribble moves
+Genie Bean I have long vids but simple execution with attention to detail lol check out the rest of my work in my 2k18 all tutorial playlist
Sam Pham NBA 2K18 Tips and Tutorial yea I have check some of them out while I was at work
Thanks for your videos. I'm start watching from 2k16. It's helps allot, specially in defense. Worst part of the game, in my opinion.
Great move. Good stuff
You're still the best Pham!
is there a setting for closing out better or staying attached to ya man in the event of an offensive rebound? second chance three's a killer
Awesome video bro
👍Great Videos.
I always wondered what use the rhythm dribble could be used for . Now I know.
Can I ask, what exactly does doing a rhythm dribble do? Can't you do the same moves without the rhythm? I'm not questioning that you did it. It's more that 2k18 is my first sports game since like, PS1 NBA Live, and I don't watch basketball. And I don't quite understand everything yet. I like the game and am just tryin to get better.
Great moves to add to my arsenal thanks fam
good video, do you play with people? I would like some advice from you.
Hey, Sam, too glad you come back with new video, you missed us and you do a great job.
I have a question for you for an Alley oop on a pick'n roll:
I can not make a pass on a pick'n roll with the A key pressed and then make an Alley hoop.
Each time, the pass leaves on a player opposite the ground despite the circle being under these feet.
This is a bug or they changed the key to do it?
Thanks Sam for your reply.
God Bless You.
Alley oop is Y not A?
Yes, the key for Alley oop is Y.
In the system of pass, one can make a pass and go:
Make the pass and hold A button >
We control the player without the ball >
Go to the basketball hoop without the ball with holding button A > and press Y (Y + A) for the Alley oop!
It does not work on a pick and roll.
When I press A, he sends me the ball to the other end of the field instead of the player who makes me the block ..
I do not understand
You let go of A and double tap Y to get alley oop.
"Sends the ball to other end of the "court" instead of the player who sets the "screen"?
I dont understand?
Waiting for Sam to talk about the new feature when you hold B and become the closest player while having control of the passer.
Hey man keep the videos up. I'm an avid 2k player and am trying to get better versus being a cheesier. Could you make a video or help me out with defending against 5 out on my team when they have 5 capable shooters. Frustrates me because they do it to me and no matter what settings or defense I play I can't stop it. Then I'll try to 5 out them back and they never change any defensive settings and somehow defend it
Are u going to try play ground this year because that would be cool so u could teach real dribble moves online +more
Subbed!
Bruv, can't say thank you enough!!!
Sam with that step back curry vs tristan, was it Open or lightly contested? :D
probably contested lol
Hi Sam, could you do a tutorial on how to effectively move without the ball? I searched around and couldn't find a way to do a L-cut, where cpu did that to me all the time....
Omg I love this I'm a beast with this
Steph Curry is the step back and shoot the 3 King. This is going to b hard to pull this off unless u pick very select few players in the NBA. Good tutorial either way
I died at 6:48 lmao but thanks for looking out for us
+Sam Pham can you show us how to make the defender fall or stumble
Sam Pham do a layup tutorial cuz I keep missing all my layups when the game is close .. plz help ASAP
How do you do the step back without fading away? Do you wait until the player gathers?
Sam Pam next dribble gawd?
what time is the live stream Monday ?
I want to be taller 6’5 the originals height , so I wonder if I made him 6’6 to 6’8 to do post fades pull ups and posters I will make him between 190 to 200 . I would drop the wing span maybe 2 or 3 inches .
Hey when should I look for your live stream tomorrow???
This is the most amount of views you've gotten on a video in 10 months. Congratulations👍
Ive gotten my dribble game way up in the last year or so. I dont spam, I simply read and react and get the defender leaning. After u get a defender leaning its a GG u can make them look sick
Greg Smith I see you on so many 2k videos
Each player has built in combos too. Curry has a nice combo just flicking right stick diwn twice. KD has a combo if u flick RS from ball hand between legs then between legs again and he goes into his preset combo. John Wall has 2 great preset combos that I consider the best in the game
+Greg Smith I use to do those too but rhythm dribble makes everything easier lol gives me chance to read defense in detail while defender occupied lol
Sam Pham NBA 2K18 Tips and Tutorial I use the rythym dribbles occasionally depending on which player Im using
Sam Pham NBA 2K18 Tips and Tutorial i love the triple threat this year, u can really explode out of it this year. U can feel a huge difference between a KD and Draymond Green. KD is far more explosive do naturally He would be much better in a triple threat position and in 2K18 KD is absolutely deadly
Can you make some basic tutorial explained in detail like this about defence im new to 2k but been practicing this dribble combo and mastered it but in 2k17 my defence was really bad i didnt understand what to do can you explain? and i dont really understand the dpad in game and selecting options with l1 and r1 thanks bro
Go to my channel and watch my 2k17 defensive tutorial playlist. ALSO check out my 2k beginner's guide for success playlist that one also very helpful even if it is an older game.
Ten steps in front of the competition #respect
Sam...do you prefer shooting with the right stick?
+Jason Wiggins I shoot free throws and set shots with stick. I do pull ups with square
The last nba 2k i played was 11 and the controls was simplr and easy, now this game has like a billion things to do do just to dribble, any way to get those control settings back??😩😩😩
Hello friend if you have how to do the videos showing the buttons the commands help a lot because in Brazil it does not understand English
Amazing tutorial, bro! Especially the KD portion. I'm making either a Shot Creator/Point Forward or Shot Creator/Slasher. Either way, they'll be 6'10, so hopefully, you can do a tutorial specifically catered to the big men that still have elite dribbles. No worries though, I subbed to you after this video. #NotiCrew
big man with dribbles huh ? Give me the exact numbers/attributes i will see what i can pull off. 86 ball control is a big deal this year
Sam Pham NBA 2K18 Tips and Tutorial Thanks for the reply. I'm going to run a 6'8" to 6'10" Shot Creator/Playmaker and I think they can get an 88 ball handling and speed (If I'm not mistaken)...
Sam Pham NBA 2K18 Tips and Tutorial what u think about shot creating sharp build or shot creating lockdown
i did shot creator/slasher, the dribbles are smoother than 2K17, enjoyed this demo.
I dont have the prelude yet as a pc player, they mentioned that dribble mechanics have changed and there are no canned animations, can you feel the changes in dribbling? Also is the warping of defenders that are beaten off the dribble fixed?
+Thapelo so far I would say the warping almost never happens anymore. Once out of 15 maybe
Awesome, how does the dribbling feel? Is it responsive and natural finally?
I like that move i use it alot the spin move drive gets alot of fouls on D
Im glade the spin is smooth again.....no more droppin the damn ball
LOL tell me about that from last year man, that was killing me.
Then the patch
Sam Pham NBA 2K18 Tips and Tutorial can u do a video defending those dribble moves .. can they be d up ? U can on live or will they just scare right by u ?
I can try that on stream with the full game. I can't play with anyone on 2KU lol
do some live tutorial on the controls like pick and roll please
I come back to these vids for discipline
I do that too lol I rewatched a lot of my own tutorials to keep fundamentals up lol
MoneyJ saw the triple threat spin out last year. He can probably attest to how effective it is. Vs a user its an automatic blow by. Its not quite as effective in 2K18 though. Its a really nasty move though.
Greg Smith me and sam haven't gotten into triple threat this year
Time to go lab brb lol
I hope you can change the rhythm dribble this year
Will this help me in real life?
How do you do a size up hesitation combo
Came back to this just to say how many buckets this gets me lol
Oh trust me i know lol this move is too much haha
Sam all these dribbles was in 2k17!! Ok Durants rythm dribble is new but the rest i have been doing all year!! Good to give people advice though.
the controller input to player output latency was horrible in 2k17 tho hopefully the reaction is more instantaneous this year
I'd smack Pham up, most likely.
Nice tips but IT as the defender lol For demo purposes I get it though
U forgot triple threat spin out. It is one of the most effective moves in the game and I rarely see it used. In triple threat just rotate the right stick from ball hand. Its important to note that u need 86 ball control or it wont trigger tge right animation and u will lose the ball.
Greg Smith k I've labbed for a bit. Thanks for the tip. I don't feel like the spin is very good. Very all or nothing with little read and react potential. I do however think the jab and jab and step through moves are highly effective with a lot of adjustments able to be made. Maybe spin is better against humans tho
Dude my career players speed/acel is as high as it will go (pure SC) and i can't make it around guys like you do here. any tips? :s
+Grant Davison are you doing rhythm dribble to escape ? With turbo held down ?
After escape you gotta push LS with turbo to where you wanna go
Exactly that, Run up to the 3pt line, flick the right stick to rhythm dribble and during the dribble anim i hold turbo and try to steer around, fail at least 70% of the time. To be fair mate i think its down to my poor basketball IQ, i get some serious tunnel vision, yo
+Grant Davison wait tho are you doing the escape dribble after rhythm ??
Woah... you just saved my season! That's what i get for trying to watch while i play! Cheers for the help, massive props and sorry for wasting your time, G. Keep doin' what you're doin \o/
How to redo this mode Again ( control guide)??
How do you throw alley oops 😬
Shake and bake! lol
you forgot to show the rythm dribble hop step like Harden and DeRozan.
SAM PHAM WHERE THE HELL IS Epikkai!!!!
Super easy to blow by isiah on the prelude should've been doing this with kd on bron instead
Also you have to understand I preach to do this during a mismatch. You can't isolate for 48 minutes, this is for when you catch a mismatch put them on an island. And yes watch the whole vid, i killed it with KD too lol
This is how you do it NBA Live look how fluid curry dribble moves are I don't reconize curry in NBA Live18 he looks like his real life self in 2k18.
2K has got this part SO RIGHT. Is smooth looking and easy for a user to do.
