Today, we'll be going through the life, history, and lore of the most dangerous individual present in the Subnautica games: Marguerit Maida! I'll tell you everything we know about her early life, time on 4546B, and personality so you can get a greater appreciation for this battle-hardened mercenary!

Marguerit is such a badass, I theorize she could take on the gargantuan leviathan and tell the tale. I hope we get more story on her time in sector zero, how she got her prawn suit and how she survived kharaa.

Can still think of 2.5 possibilites for her not dying of Kharaa: Either she ate enough of those enzyme carrying peepers to constitute an antidote or she has the 1 in 143 billion genetics to be immune to it (That or it saw what she could do to it and got the hell out of Marge).
Honestly I think it has to be her genetics since those cured peepers wouldn't swim as far as Sector 0 :)

Do you know how they cured smallpox by having chickenpox plus injected into the body well that’s could’ve happened with Marguerite because she’s a mercenary so she could have encountered some things like the Cara and survived giving her an immunity
@@TheLastBacon maybe it's the reaper's carcass that gave her immunity, the reaper ate a lot of hero peepers and the enzyme is inside it's body which Marguerit ate, this also explains why most leviathans don't have kharaa

While I like her character, there are two things I can put my finger on: 1st: Maida was the direct responsible of the death of Paul by a Crabsquid (for bringing that Reaper, which caused their base destruction); 2nd: There's a huge plot hole on how she survived Kharaa and why Bart, on the other hand, who was the one that discovered the bacteria and had theories, ideas and knowledge, died of it on the Floating Island. I seen multiple theories: Maida consumed Peepers with the enzyme; the Reaper had immunity against the bacteria... but we know that the only way to get cured is by hatching the Sea Emperor eggs and releasing them to the planet... there's no two ways about it, Maida's survival in BZ is nonsence, and even her inclusion on the 2nd game is just not justified enough, she's basically a supporting character that helps Robin tie the clues about what happened with her sister, but that's all... and it's completely optional.
So yeah, I liked knowing that she was a ruthless mercenary that died in her own game, in her own terms... the Degasi crew, even if they weren't meet in person in the first game, were great characters and when I first played I remember wanting to uncover what happened to them and forcing me to go deeper to their seabases. I just don't see the point of her inclusion in BZ, wrecking the whole lore of the Kharaa.
You're totally right, the kharaa thing is a massive plothole that I don't think we'll ever get an answer for :)
I think that in combination with the Enzyme Peepers, the freezing temps of Sector Zero slowed down the infection enough to where it's basically non-existent and that's how she ended up surviving the Kharaa
Nothing is wrecked by her inclusion. No disease or virus ever has an infection rate of 100% there are always people who for some reason are immune to it. Entirely possible she was one of those.
@@dracophyre7330 what about the frozen leviathan, the disease is living well despite being encased in ice for a long time
You forgot about the part where she served in the Federation Military which came into contact with Kharaa in Natrural Selection 2. So it’s likely that she caught the NS2
Strain which allowed her body to develop a resistance to Kharaa.
I hope we see marge again in future games, her status as an ultimate survivor is almost legendary and I could totally see her leading a gang of runaways that keep causing problems for alterra all over 4546b

i just finished below zero! it took a while! But man what a good game! i honestly wanted to take my time unlike what i did with the first subnautica which i finished in 2 weeks. Honestly the lore and everything is so good. cant wait for subnautica 3!!

Anyway regarding how she survived, I once replied to a tweet asking why there weren't more feral older female characters with, "Marguerit Maida in Subnautica. No one knows how she's managed to survive the last twelve years and my theory is that Death took one look and went, 'I'm not going near her jfc'."
Obraxis replied within THREE MINUTES saying, "Death is pretty scared of her tbh" (note, this was NOT on a Subnautica-related post) and I'm just going to consider that canon now. She survived because Death is too scared to go near her. It is law. Bangs gavel.

Riley casually defeating a multiple reaper levitations with a knife surviving a disease swimming 200 miles without carrying only being a janitor being the only survivor of the crash breaking rocks with his bare hands UNDERWATER saving a planet from mass extinction stoping a giant laser and fucking building a rocket and PILOTING a rocket with like no experience because *HE WAS A JANITOR*.
Marguerit Maida lived in a dead reaper for a few weeks stole a baby polar bear and built a prawn suit. Without the mobile vehicle bay.
They both did some impressive shit. But I think Riley is BY FAR more dangerous thank Marguerit Maida

Marguerit is personally my favorite character, she’s pretty badass. I would love to see her take out all the hostile leviathans in BZ, then come to the crater in regular Subnautica and take out every hostile leviathan without even breaking a sweat, that includes the gargantuan leviathan and any other massive hostile leviathans from other mods. I wish you could try and befriend her because let’s be honest who would not want a friend as badass as her?

Me and my friend are just playing subnautica below zero and he just died in game because of incredible dum mistakes and bugs.
And it is graphicly and with crafting slightly better than original game.(spoilers) But i am ready to see 3rd subnautica game. (with maybe alive leviathan what died in subnautica 1 milion years ago {ancient skeleton}.

There are only 8 hostile leviathans left in the waters of the below zero. Also marguerit's prawn's blade arm is made of a "young celicerate's mandible" Means she killed at least one of them. And even if you are a 40-60 m leviathan you probably won't survive 10 stabs from a serrated 1.2 meters long bone blade.

Marguerit Maida is very courageous but also sometimes very reckless. This was the only point on which I and the late Paul Torgal agreed. If they continue to make games with her in it, I’m afraid that she might be put in a worse situation than the Reaper encounter and be killed. Maybe for Maida, that would be the most honorable way to go. The soldiers of Ancient Rome preferred to die in battle than die from festering in a sick bed while their fellow legionnaires were on campaign. I suspect Maida might also be of that school of thought. I think they should make a prequel game just for her alone, to find out more about her past prior to Degasi. She is a fascinating character, a female John Wayne type but with hidden depths. I suspect that she could easily have disabled the satellite tower on her own, she didn’t need Robin’s help for that.
Yeah probably - I'd imagine if there was a setup where she had to die - it would be battling some humongous monster :)

Yeah Marguerit survived the Planet but Ryley and Robin have the powers to die and respawn although not better survivors they still have powers of dying and coming back right on there beds if they have one
