Japanese kickboxing deserves more recognition honestly.
Facts: It's the most underrated kickboxing style.
Japanese kickboxing has a similar foundation with Dutch kickboxing in that they're mixing Karate & Boxing, but of course the execution & philosophy is very different with DK emphasizing pressure in the mid & inside range vs JK concentrating more on footwork & distance control; both have amazing combos because of the boxing influence.
karate is shit that's why they need boxing karatekas doesn't know how to punch
Could it be that DK come very much from Kyukushin, wheras JK perhaps has a more mixed Karate influence, eg Shotokan and Wado in addition to Kyukushin?
@@andersjohansson6458yeah
Japanese Kickboxing is the original form of Kickboxing, where every Kickboxing style created after the 1960s were based off of Japanese Kickboxing (American, Dutch etc.). So it's not surprising that every style of modern-day Kickboxing has similarities with Japanese Kickboxing.
good video then I scroll down and read this 🤣
Love these combo Videos. I love how much free content you have. I literally watch and rewatch your videos every day to practice.
We're lucky kickboxing doesn't pay great because elite Boxers get paid too well to bother making YT content, having a legend like Gabe whilst still close to his prime showing technique is so valuable.
by the way, french savate is also very aesthetic as well as productive way to kickbox ;)
Great video! Love the Japanese fighters, especially Masato. His combos were insane, and the uppercut he would throw was a thing of beauty. Absolute warrior. He hit Buakaw with some beauties! Love these videos!! Keep them coming.
Loving this kickboxing combo series you're doing
Very nice. In addition to the 5 Must Know Dutch and Japanese Combos, maybe you could do a 5 Must Know Muay Thai Combos next :)
While I love some nice, long combinations, I find anything longer than 3-4 strikes tends to fall apart the moment our opponent doesn't want to just stay put to get smashed.
Guess the longer ones should be saved for having someone against the ropes or against an equally aggressive opponent - at least when we spar at our gym, a lot of people tend to disengage pretty quickly and reset into neutral.
Excellent video, thank you.
Loved this video.
Love this 🙏
Finally , thanks you Gabriel
Number 2 was my favorite.
Now this was an awesome episode Gabriel because I am really unorthodox myself, and like to do all of tips that you mentioned to be more like a Japanese kickboxer, and these five combos were so crucial for me, and here is a video suggestion, can you make 5 Thai style combos and why they work?
He's definitely gonna do that next.
I need to try Japanese Kickboxing
Nice
Gabriel, can you do a video on throwing left/lead leg kicks from the wider kickboxing stance? I find that I have a hard time using left kicks unless I’m in a Muay Thai stance
Awesome. How about 5 for Sanda or do you think it's so similar to Japanese Kickboxing?
Love your work.
Yeah, that would be awesome
You should make a collab video with Bazooka Joe Valtellini.
Thai style combos coming when?
The best example of Japanese Kickboxers is Tenshin Nasukawa
Or Hiroki Akimoto
Japanise kickbox and Duch kickbox originate from Kyokushin karate (full contact) OSU
nah, the stole everything from the thais the stance the combos the footwork they just copied everything.
@@user-eb2kv7bg4t I don't think the Thais move like that. Heck, just watch the latest Superlek vs Takeru fight and there's a clear difference in styles. Or Masato vs Buakaw. Japanese Kickboxing actually came from Kyokushin practitioners being beaten in the ring by Muay Thai, so they added boxing and originally the Thai clinch (before it was largely removed). Very different backgrounds, but for the same goal
@@user-wq4nf4dk3s facts. These Thai fanboys are weirdos are claiming everything comes from MuayThai.
@@user-eb2kv7bg4tNot everything, but something. And yes I think Thai style is still better.
Original muay thai do Not know boxing, That's Why Rick Roufus broke the Jaw of Changpuek and knocked out Changpuek 2 times by Punching Changpuek in the Face.
Any reason in Combo 2 the fist was vertical while doing the left uppercut?
I throw it like that when someone’s guard is tight. Vertical glove seems to fit between the guard easier than turning the knuckles over
Hi
any combo that includes karate side kick and spinning back/hook kick?
the karate side kick sucks you shouldn't use it, the thai side kick is better
Japanese Kickboxing is more influenced from Kyokushin and Kudo and some basics of Boxin. Cos we mostly focus on conditioning our body like Kyokushiners nd Kudokas do
japanese kickboxing is way older than kudo. also nobody calls kyokushin karateka "kyokushiners"
@@neokimchi i know i just used short term cos I was in middle of something so thts why. Nd yes i dont think so Japanese kickboxing is older then kudo cos kudo was developed in 1980s nd afters 10 years kickboxers started to raised up in Japan in 90s
"kyokushiners" shut up dude, japanese kickboxing is just a cheap copy of muay thai
@@user-eb2kv7bg4t yeah am a Kyokushiner yo babe Japanese Kickboxing all of the above maa nigga💪🔥 hhhhhhaaaaaoooooooooo
@@user-eb2kv7bg4t Of course I knew a Thai keyboard warrior would say something, how about just respect different arts. Muay Thai isn't the first nor is it the only striking that has punches and kicks, by your Muay Thai is a cheap copy of Lethwei, but they replace bare knuckle tape with gloves, and remove the headbutting.
Wing Chun's close-quarters techniques and focus on simultaneous attack and defense offer an advantage over Japanese kickboxing's emphasis on kicks and punches from a distance. Wing Chun's trapping and grappling methods neutralize opponents quickly, exploiting their vulnerabilities. Its economy of motion and adaptability enable practitioners to control the fight's pace, making Wing Chun more effective in close-range combat scenarios than Japanese kickboxing.
Got any highlights? Sounds pretty awesome and I wanna see it in the ring
Dude. I like wing chun too. But this is exactly what is wrong with the wing chun community. Nobody asked for this absolute unsolicited wing chun paragraph. You have to be trolling man.
@@user-gc7vs2vm7f It's crucial to spread accurate knowledge about Wing Chun to dispel misconceptions. Educating other martial arts enthusiasts fosters appreciation for its unique principles and effectiveness, enhancing martial arts understanding and preserving its integrity.
Sounds sick mate show us some fight highlight reels I'd love to see it pressure tested in the ring
@@KeyserSoze23 Honestly Wing Chun sounds really awesome, it's just whenever I ask someone to give me quick highlight reels to drool over no one ever gives anything
Original Kyokushin are knocking out Original Muay thai since the 60's
Japanese Kickboxing is combination of boxing ang kyokushin, Muay thai is Not included.
First
Yes, original kyokushin knocking out original muaythai with kyokushin rules and limited muay thai rules, no elbows, no clinching, no throws.
All the kyokushin fighters doing well have changed their training ways in order to adapt...
Ask all your top mma( ufc) fighters, in order to better their stand up fighting do they go and train kyokushin or muay thai.
Its up to the individual good and bad fighters in all styles, but if one looks at the different principles, obviously muay thai makes more sense( kyokushin no face punching).
And by the way i am a Japanese graded 4th dan in Kyokushin having trained in Japan on numerous occassions now transitioned to muay thai.
And the biggest plus no belt system in muaythai.
Since Sosai Oyamas passing its become an absolute joke, one big power struggle, ive lost count of how many kyokushin groups there are now, everyone wants to be the big chief.
Sorry, but im sick to the belly with all this kyokushin fighters knocking muaythai fighters out jargon.
Everyone wants to challenge the muaythai fighters but at their rules.
Original muay thai Not know boxing, That's why Rick broke the Jaw of Changpuek and knocked out Changpuek 2 times by punching Changpuek in the Face 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
