    Could you do a video on when to enter and exit the pocket? I've seen a lot of boxers and MMA guys not knowing when to stop moving forward, and they get stuffed on their offense, because they NEVER exit unless they're running away
    EDIT: it's so rare for someone to know when to exit, the announcers always say that it's a personality trait

    • @shanebodnar9861
      @shanebodnar9861 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Lkm you do understand that once you exit the pocket you have just stopped your offense because of your choice of moving out of range correct? Not that it’s always the best idea, but if you want to keep ur offense going you HAVE to consistently moving forward to keep your opponent in range. Can you also elaborate on what it means for your offense to get “stuffed”

    • @justinclark3793
      @justinclark3793 Před 6 měsíci

      @@shanebodnar9861 that's definitely not true. What a scrub. There are pressure fighters who know when to take a step back, because they know the opponent is about to move forward

    • @shanebodnar9861
      @shanebodnar9861 Před 6 měsíci

      @@justinclark3793 I can’t think of any situation where that would make sense. Why would someone trying to stay OUT of range intentionally move INTO range? If I’m tryna pressure forward to get a takedown and you move into me, you basically just did exactly what I was trying to achieve.

    • @justinclark3793
      @justinclark3793 Před 6 měsíci +3

      @@shanebodnar9861 I think you're assuming too much. I'm talking about advanced offense. The "pocket" means up close, face to face. Not in or out of range. Obviously offense never takes place out of range. But if your opponent is not shaken by your offense, or if they are even attempting to overpower yours with theirs, then moving in and out of the "pocket" can make all the difference. The reason it's called the pocket, is because it's as much on the inside as one can be

    • @justinclark3793

      @@shanebodnar9861 what I want is a decent guide to how to manipulate the finer details of range, using your opponent's gas tank, or ego, etc against them. Some people hate shelling up, and they'll just swing with you. I'm talking advanced stuff, with the big boys

      @avancalledrupert5130 Před 6 měsíci +2

      That seems crazy to me . Footwork was the main focus from the start of my training. Like day one jab cross. Day 2 how to move around create angle to land it.
      Then add front kicks. Then hooks then round kicks. Continually building complexity as you progress.
      But the focus from the start should be getting your toe where you want to go.

    Stepping deep around like a boxer (shown around 5 mins) may not work in mma as you give your back to your opponent. Depends who is quicker but if they slip or shoot under your jab as you try to step deep and around your back is theirs.

    In kung fu we talk about the bubbling well spring. (Kindy 1 pressure point). It is kind of at the average centre point of all the tendons that run to the ball of the foot. If you have a spring in your step, this is where it feels like you are springing from. Being actively aware of what is going on in this part of your foot can help to improve balance, responsiveness, and control in footwork.
