As far as a gen 4/5 glock, I highly recommend the TangoDown mag release, and the Glock EO extended slide release (its technically a Glock 34/35 release.)

Ye tho the slow tone of steve, is easier to hear. Well down to earth. That hi pitch mid west accent is tough to hear. Lucas needs to take a vacation or something, he seems ready to shoot someone at times. Tho even when he's chill, that's his regular accent. So he needs singing lessons for deeper relaxed tones or something. Keep the state accent, tho get rid of that hi pitch serious way of talking. I normally would say, " well 1 had a high pitch showboat tone & the other has a laid back reserverd tone, diff personalities are great. " Tho in this case Lucas's frequency is so harsh to hear, like unplugged grey tv sound. Makes me not want to be a streamer. Or maybe stop shooting animals & only being about metal objects & instead find nature again.

M&P 2.0s are pretty awesome. I have had a few over the years and i prefer them over Glocks in all honesty, grip angle is better, (for me) trigger is FAR better,(for everyone..) reliability is the same, they are pretty damn squared away.

@@slappomatthewI might agree on a 1st gen M&P, haven't shot one in forever but i remember the triggers not being great.
But the 2.0 triggers are outstanding especially compared to a Glock.
Triggers are one of those things, if you like it then do it. Long as It's reliable then it's whatever. I typically just keep them stock on pistols, but my M4s I upgrade to Geissele triggers on all of them.

Speaking of FMJ and barriers: I was a final year dental student at the largest dental school in Africa (UWC in Cape Town, RSA) assisting a maxillo-facial surgeon registrar with a 14 y.o. male patient who got shot in the shoulder and jaw. He was referred to us from the hospital next door. Judging by the shitty hand tattoos he's probably in a Cape flats street gang. His story was that he was riding in a mini bus taxi with his friends to somewhere when a rival gang member shot at them. Probably a Norinco Type 54 model 213, they're very common here. The 9mm FMJ rounds went through the corner frame of the windshield of the mini bus and struck him in the shoulder/high chest area and in the jaw. Both bullets were intact without much deformation. The chest shot went through completely. The entry hole and exit holes looked pretty discreet. The one that struck his jaw was perfectly parallel to the inferior alveolar nerve canal on the left hand side of his mandible, resting just below the root apices of his teeth, stuck tightly in the alveolar bone (probably acted like a sponge/force absorber). We accessed the bullet by making an incision in the buccal sulcus and exposed the underlying bone, after which we rotated the bullet out using a Warwick James elevator, sutured him up and wired his maxilla and mandible together with the IMF technique. The force of the bullet, after passing through a vehicle frame, was adequate enough to fracture the angle of his mandible as the bone absorbed its force.

I bought a glock 23 gen 5. I put 50 tritium sights on it, and a talon grip. The gun is now good to go. The thing about pistol flashlight is it gives your assailant a place to shoot at. Where as if i hand hold a light i will hold it out and away from my and my body and head. This is prolly oldschool technique that my grandfather taught me. You do this because if theres a light on your pistol it provides a good target to shoot at if youre a bad guy. However I see the benefits of not having to hold the pistol one handed and shine a light and do 2 things at once. Ive been thinking of a compact light and laser on my pistol.

My duty weapon: G19 with an APEX trigger which is not that special other than having a more robust trigger safety tang. Trigger pull is still 6lbs.
Brownells slide with Holosun HS507C circle dot. PERFECT fit. Blacked out suppressor height sights.
Viridian Green laser and 100 lumen light module...optional strobe function. Not a cheap item at $350. Have had it for years. Robust.
Lone Wolf Alpha Wolf fluted, nitrided barrel. Love it.
Also: Safariland ALS drop leg holster modded to fit the HS507C
My mod that actually helps me shoot better is the green laser because at my age shooting really WELL with irons is really hard. Astigmatism and 2.75 reading power.
Just getting used to the red dot which is designed as my back up sight. Viridian laser is my Primary.
I need to lighten the trigger to 4.5 to 5 llbs.
Hot tip: BED your RDS with Tef Gel. BUY and install SS screws to mount your RDS on Amazon. The black oxide coated mild steel screws will rust from rain and sweat in a couple months. Use PURPLE low strength Loctite with the Gen 1 HS507C. You need to be able to remove your RDS with OUT a heat gun. Blue Loctite is only OK for Gen 2 HS507C which has the battery in a tray.

I’m military, so I’ll still have to train and qualify on the M18 with irons as well as sustainment training since I’m a firearms instructor, so I have no choice to stay proficient with them which is a good thing. On my personal firearms I have a RMR and a Delta Point Pro. I do a lot of drawing and dry fire practice at home with the red dots though to stay proficient with them as well, it took some practice at first to immediately pick up the dot, but second nature with enough practice.

Red dot for older students. I attended a P.O.S.T. instructor course earlier this year where I was the oldest student, at about the same age as the head instructor. The small department where I work the lead instructor has been an “iron sights” only guy. I’m an above average shooter with good basic fundamentals and I performed well enough during qualifications to become selected as an apprentice instructor. While in the instructor course, it became apparent my eyes are getting worse as I no longer have clear front sight focus as all my sights and the target are a slight blur, even with prescription glasses. The head instructor of the school recommended a red dot due to my aging eyes. My lead instructor was attending the same course, as a refresher, and the head instructor of the class finally convinced my lead instructor older officers may need to transition to a red dot. My long winded way of saying transitioning to red dot may be out of necessity for older people, but you must continue to practice good basic fundamentals. Thanks for the video!

From my experience. With my glock 45 build, i put in a timney trigger, stainless steel rival arms guide rod and meprolight adjustable night sights. All those upgrades really did help with accuracy (still had to practice though) but the cross armory mag catch and slide stop help with functionality. Shooting idpa, all those parts were an advantage over the oem parts.

Training with a milled optic gun will get you better at overall shooting faster than training with just irons. So many guys have trouble finding the dot when coming from irons. That just means they suck and can’t actually aim. Irons are blocky, slow, and not as accurate. It takes more time to decipher a decent sight picture than a red dot. When dry firing, someone with a red dot can get ample more reps in in the same amount of time because of the instant verification of the red dot over doing guesstimated eyeball measurements to ensure the front sight post is perfectly aligned right between the rear sight posts. Simply put you get faster and more accurate yourself because the dot is more simplistic and forces you to be more accurate.

    • @tophergauruder3647
      @tophergauruder3647 Před 4 lety

I spent a lot of time dryfiring irons and making sure I had a perfect sight picture, once I started shooting red dots I had no problem finding the red dot and shooting with it. in my opinion if you have a good sight picture with irons then you can be equally as fast if not better with a red dot.

I disagree with Tritium. What I have noticed is when doing night shooting, if I use tritium sights with a weapon light, once I cut the light off, I can pick up my sights almost immediately after where it takes a good bit longer to pick up regular sights once I cut the white light off. It is a more limited use however I still prefer to pick my sights back up right away.

Before I watched a video of him talking about it, I really coveted and wanted to get a new trigger system, "hair trigger", and all that but he said that can get you in a lot of trouble in a self defense shooting. So any gun that you're going to carry or could possibly use as self defense, probably best to stay away from that. For competition guns and all that that's fine

Tritium night sights with fiber optics are definitely very easy to see with a light on. I night shoot all the time, and if anything the weapon light amplifies the glow because of the open ports for the fiber optics. They end up capturing light from your flashlight and it’s a very nice combo. So if you want night sights, get tritium fiber optic combo! They’re great! Half life is also rated 12 years, not five.

Unless it’s your job to clear rooms in the dark like law enforcement I don’t see the need. If it’s a SHTF scenario then you would likely have your rifle out.
