Very good video. A long question I have: Can you connect a echo dot 4 or 5 in an adjoining room as a second speaker to my Fire TV that has a sound bar connected by a HDMI cable on ARC 1?

Very useful, we have the echo 8 setup for our elderly parents on their 1st floor and the dot on their second floor. They can call us in an emergency! 👍👍👍 one problem was our number wasn’t showing up when they call someone, it was showing another long distance number!
Steve, what do you think about a short video on the three Amazon Smart bulb options? I need soft white dimmable but having all the colors would be great. Does the color changing bulb have the soft white with the capability of dimming?

Nicely laid out. Question for you or for others before I hit Reddit.... Currently using two on the patio setup under the Home Theatre option from a Firestick 4k. I am moving to an Nvidia Shirld Pro and I cannot figure how to maintain the Home Theatre setup or output to a Speaker group as these two speakers (I don't need the seperate channels). Can this be done still? I read you can still output audio to the Firestick which would then output to the "Home Theatre" setup, but I can't figute out how. Or, how to output bluetooth to a speaker group. Appreciate any help.

Thanks for sharing. I've got the 5th get. (2022), so not the plus with the _Guard_ feature. How can I speak to a friend in another country through their Alexa and mine? Sometimes we like to chat whilst we're busy doing stuff. Also, would you know how to make Alexa pronounce your name correctly? It says my name in a weird way
One other great benefit I just found out is that these work as nodes for eero WiFi mesh systems. I already had a few echos that support doing that so I just had to buy one router.
That features makes me want to try eero out.
I watch your videos all the time and thank you for your instruction! One question, I have 5 fire tv sticks. In devices they are labeled 1,2,3,4,5. How do you identify which one is in which room? Many thanks!
Unplug 4 see what device is plugged in with the device list then name it something else.
Can you play a book on all your devices at the same time or is that only for music?

I am having problems with the communication making phone calls. I am setting up for an elderly couple that are going blind. It used to work now it only allows a few phone numbers. When I deleted a couple of double numbers it now tells me I can't until they reset data. Do you have any help for this. Alexa used to be a great resource for my elderly clients now it's just a paper weight.

Hi Steve. . Do you know if you can create an inventory list on amazon Alexa echo and ask it for a specific item in that list. Eg. Shopping list - bread , milk , eggs Q? Alexa is eggs on my shopping list

You can request the name of the device you want to drop in on.

My Alexa App does not have Guard option now I do have emergency assist. The problem with that is they don’t have a free version. It makes you buy the one for six dollars a month or $59 a year something like that.

How do I make an announcement to only one echo dot and not all my echos? I would like to make announcements to the echos that are in my kids room
I’m not 100% sure but I think you can say:
**Alexa, announce [your announcement message] to [group/device name]**
For example, Alexa, announce it’s time to go to the kids room.
I’ll try to test it soon but if you test it first please let us know your results.
I've been trying to test this out and i can't get it to work. It's still announcing to all my devices.
@@SteveDOES maybe this feature has been removed for some reason or I’m just completely misremembering and this has never been the case. The latter seems more likely.
Providing the phase is the same every time, you could set this up using a routine then you don’t have to announce to every Echo device. Hope that helps
can you have more than one phone operating Alexi
Hi Steve I'm new to Alexa sometimes when I ask a question the replies are so wrong it's hard to believe.
Here's an example - I'm planning a drive I ask Alexa "what's the weather on Bowes Moor UK tomorrow morning.
So the answer comes back "The weather in Bowes park part of a US state sorry can't remember which one is cold and rainy temp can't remember "err I'm in the UK not the USA oh the answer had a date attached to it - some time in 2021 omg !!! Is there anyway to update the search engine or change it altogether like dare I say it Google sorry if I swore !!!.

In the Alexa app, go to the Devices tab at the bottom and select your Echo Device. Click the gear icon in the top right corner and scroll down to 'Device Location'. This is were it should pull information based off of that location.
Guard does not exist in my Alexa app! No sign of anything like it. Lives in England
Amazon is replacing it with something called “emergency assist” - I think it will have the guard features.

That's a request that only works on the Echo Show devices that have a screen.
