    Anthony, that was an exceptional video on your reasoning behind selling the 5711. This was probably the best worded way of telling your story and change of heart with that watch. Well done and congratulations on the 911!

    I’m in the same position you were in but I already have an immaculate air cooled Porsche 911 Supersport. I’m not selling mine although I hardly wear it now. I’ll keep it for 20 years and maybe see re-assess my position then.
    Glad you’re enjoying the Porsche.

    100% true. There is no point owning a watch just because it's considered "special", If you don't enjoy it then you need to sell it.

    There exist many, many collectible watches but there's only one 911. At least you've experienced ownership of the 5711 and you're not attached, which makes you a true aficionado in my book. Good on ya!

    Awesome video bud! Love the personal insight and I couldn't agree with you more! I love watches as much as anyone, but there comes a point where the value outweighs your love of a particular piece (as rare as that situation ever arrises!).

    You did great bro. The Porsche is a much better buy IMO not to mention a lot more fun. You will look fantastic driving it with your matching color Submariner. You made money on this watch and got a Porsche, that's a winner in my book.

  • @UltiGamer101
    @UltiGamer101 Před 5 lety +1

    Great topic and well put. I completely agree - if you're not using it, get rid of it and make room for the watches that you'll actually wear and enjoy.
    Also, I'd have to the with the others in saying that if take the Porsche over the 5711, any day. Instead of having a watch collect dust you can drive the Porsche and enjoy it!

    I absolutely love the honesty! I was thinking the same thing getting both gold and steel Pateks: and was really like should I even bother. But too busy thinking about what everyone else is doing. I absolutely love AP! For heaven sakes thinking about customizing certain Gshocks. And I’m more excited about that then the Patek. So much respect for you doing what you want and getting the car you always wanted over the watch. That’s a bad ass ride my man! Keep doing your thing living the way you want and being happy doing it! 🙏🏽

    Dude, you sold something that was an OG watch piece. Something that was only going to go up in value, for a sports car, something that would only go down in value. I absolutely love cars, but I know better to spend too much on them. At least you owned and enjoyed both the watch and the car. In the end, everything was a bonus i guess.

    I just stumbled on this video and I'm personally not a 5711 fan and never have been and agree the 15400 is a better watch. However, I absolutely love the 5167a and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one soon from my AD. The bottom line is that watches are emotional purchases and as soon as they become about future values and resale, the fun part of the hobby seems to die just a little bit. Of course, you don't want to get taken advantage of and you should be smart with your purchases and do your research but at the end of the day, buy what you like and what you will wear... Other than sentimental pieces, I don't keep models in my collection that don't see wrist time. Regardless of how special or unspecial, they may be.
    Oh and good call on the 997 :)

      @@watchwithme91 Nice! Don't get me wrong, I think the 5711 is a very nice watch it just never spoke to me personally. I get that a lot of enthusiasts are really into it and that's awesome. Really looking forward to my 5167 when it shows up in a couple of months :)

      @@watchwithme91 Awesome, glad to meet a fellow watch/Porsche enthusiast. I have a 2007 Carrera S and negotiated to have dealer give me turbo wheels after they messed up my original order for a Targa. Had to act really disappointed about getting the Carrera S as a replacement and asked for the turbo wheels to make things right lol. Love the turbo wheels but yeah, they take some work to keep clean. Impressed with going with black and did notice the white side marker lights, nice touch. One option in keeping it looking flawless is going with a full protective wrap, which I am actually planning for my Carrera S after I had some paintwork done on it. Had good success with a full wrap on a Tesla and there is zero maintenance in terms of waxing. Everytime it rains, wrap makes it look freshly waxed

    In 20 years you’ll regret. 5711, Ceramic Daytona... GMT Pepsi 2018... RO 15202... those are iconic watches of OUR times. They represent the best of the best brands and they will keep those as rare as possible. Iconic today, record auction tomorrow.
