This video was finished on Dec 12 but due to some complications, it took a while to get out which is why I talk about 2023 in a video published in 2024. Anyways, I cranked out another fully painted army in this video! That's 2 in 2023 and that makes me super happy. Army painting/painting for games was a thing I was working on this year so to go from 0 painted armies to 2 is a great feeling. Hope you guys had a great holiday season and here's to the new year :beers:
Will you be painting some Old world models for the new whfb release?
heck yes!!
*if there are wood elves
*new wood elves
Nice little audio glitch at 15:29 lol
Everytime you show the clip of the resin spill...I relive the gut punch. Congrats on a BUSY and productive year. I am so glad your studio is growing and pumping out such top tier content.
yeah the gut punch feeling is real. I'm terribly clumsy myself so I have a strict rule not to keep any painted minis away from a hobby area. I even have a special locker on the table to put half-painted stuff away while batch painting. Can't count how many times i just dumped a mini into a my wet palette -_-""
I appreciate that you mentioned that you do your merch yourself locally rather than relying on a big company who cares more about margins, it inspires more confidence in the quality. Will be checking it out
Black base rims are the way, the truth, and the light 🤘
i am totally happy with busts and single model dispaly painting videos, i actually would love to see more content that is truly artistic in nature and exploring more of the art side of things. Awesome content still, i do enjoy me some army paint jobs. :)
I remember asking you on stream about batch painting a few years ago, and you were almost nauseous about the idea. Great to see the results, and watching you evolve your skillset into this haunted realm of batch painting! Thanks for the video Scott!
Yes I like the greyjoys. What is dead may never die!!
These look great. Pausing at 9:20 to say I always use black for the rims of the models and for the tray. Just looks clean. I also do the individual recesses black because I will prime the tray with a rattle can and then just paint around them. I like your approach to tray recesses, though. I imagine it looks more realistic, when you remove models from a unit during a game.
I recently picked up ASOIAF and it’s quickly grown to be my favorite miniatures game. Any tips for getting a Meta started at my local store? Congrats on getting a full army knocked out!
Get hooked into your LGS and ask if you can host an ASOIAF night. Bring 2 armies to teach people how to play. Find facebook groups/discord groups for your local area and ask around to see if anyone plays to get a pick up game.
They look great!!
Remember, you can always come back and add that extra 10% to bring them up to the next level - even after theyve been varnished
Amazing, i would love to see you do more ASOIAF
Thanks for this video. We appreciate all you do, whether it's about display painting, batch painting, talking about painting, lights, whatever. We enjoy it! Thanks!
Awesome army Scott and great to see you back on our screens on the miniac channel!!!!
I am an historic miniature gamer much older than all of your watchers. Not big in fantasy. However, you have great videos that I like, and this one is very relevant to some skirmish games I play. Have you ever considered a 30K or similar video? Painting lots of little guys common to our side of the hobby.
Those archers are SO cool! I love the color combo for the teal capes and the creame undershirts
And black bases are the way to go :)
I always do black base rims. I look at it like a black line that separates the model model from the table.
I appreciate the sand based metaphor!
Great looking army!
Good for you! I do not enjoy batch painting at all either but you are inspiring me to finish my army as well!
Amazing video, Scott! Your cheeriness and excitement really comes through in this video and is contagious :)
You need to paint up crews for Malifaux or Judgement Eternal Champions. They would really lend themselves to your painting of each model individually/uniquely rather than batch painting!
Or Battletech, if you want some sci fi. One $30 purchase is a full lance. 4 models and you’re done, baby! The only problem is you’ll want a lance for every major house, minor faction, famous mercenary company…
I agreea! Malifaux, Judgement, or Moonstone models would make way more sense for someone who doesn't like batch painting. Unique sculpts and a great game to play them in keeps me interested in hobbying and putting the time into each model.
Great video Scott, the army looks awesome.
Wow. Love how your army turned out! I'm working on my Starks right now
Thank you so much for sharing this experience papa scott! It's great to see the amount of progress of this year! I'm with the same pace with battletech!
Regarding the paint scraping issue, it may be that the miniature needed a wash with soap and water to remove oils of all kinds (Hand, mold release,e tc).
Congrats on finishing the army! Makes me want to finish some of my things.
That's a great looking army! I look forward to seeing your videos this year!
These are some sweet minis! I’m surprised I don’t see more people talking about them.
Army looks great. Love your color selections. Keep sharing your talents and great videos.
still love your work, and your videos, please never stop man, you push the hobby forward man
Looks amazing! Never played ASOIAF but your videos do give me interest.
Amazing Scott! Really like them ❤
Really enjoyed this series and watching you paint and talk about asoiaf.
Love what you did with these ones!
great job! Bless with stone, bless with steel for you!
Great video! Congrats on this great army! (Love to see your amazing painting styl in more army painting videos, or display painting videos. Just really like your style I guess)
Congratulations on this milestone. Very cool army. Loved the video and keep up the great work. I love the belend of pure art, warhammer, and other games
Beautiful army. Good point on being happy with your own work, I think you've done pure gold here but see your point on maybe wanting a bit more on the armor. Thanks and keep up the good work!!!
Congrats Scott! Iv been occaisonally watching your vlog streams and its been great to see your slow prorgess with this army no matter how slow you may have been going, you still got it done! I absolutely can not wait to have this feeling with my necron army. Im really hoping I can finish my collection by the start of 11th edition. Yes 11th edition, thats how much plastic crack I have stacked in my cloest and Im not embarrassed by it haha
A great start to the year with another consummate professional video. Scott, you’re such an inspiration, thank you so much. We the community salute you!
Fantastic video Scott, i love how you keep making these newer vids. Everything is there for us the audience to ecperince, and to me (white goo joke included) they just feel waaaaay more polished each time. Keep up the awesome work bud, your are a superstar.
Oh yeah, almost forgot to say thank you so much for not pushing a brand on us either! It seems like every other video maker lately cant help but push a particular line of products at us, but you still give us so much diversity in the brands you use, and simply let us make up our *own* mind.
Legend
I also paint a greyjoy army at the moment and yours look so freaking awsome dude! Keep up the good work, i love your videos!
Awesome work Scott!
Great episode! It's wonderful to see you return to your earlier, positive delivery.
Thanks Scott, you keep inspiring me to finish my armies and because of these types of videos I am getting closer and closer everyday!
Love you videos man. I JUST got my Saturn 3. I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm pumpppped.
Helpful vid. I'm not really interested into delving into the GoT miniatures universe exactly, but I found some cheap armies on ebay. Greyjoys looked pretty "generic raider" but also really awesome.
I also felt they would look decent in a group with a sort of drab, washed out color to their leather and cloth with the overall ramshackle look being what ties them together as an army.
Great job Scott! Your character's faces and hair look great.
Great video, they look fantastic. Was fun to watch you paint em on stream too.
very nice paintjob. its always nice to finish some projects before a year ends :D
wooohoooo new Scott video!!! So happy every time we get a new video.
I love full army painting videos tbeyre so satisfying watching the process
Nice one dude, I have managed finishing 2 this year, just missed 3 - in part because I didn't do a test and ewok fur needed more work than I had assumed it would. Just picked up Boltons in Christmas sales and looking forward to getting to them
Looking Sick AF! How dare you be so damn talented
Looks awesome (and black rims 4' life!). That resin spill never gets easier to watch lol
0:56 that's some top level prawning there Scoot!
Ohhhhhh maaaan - I remember the resin spill from the earlier vid, but still had a heart attack when seeing it again. An awesome job here 👍
Its been fun watching you paint these on stream.
Great video and an amazing comeback from the spill (I’d have definitely taken a few months away from the project after that 😅) - It has to be so satisfying to have two fully painted armies!
Epic work dude!
Russ
awesome, now i feel like i'm having more motivation to paint my drowny bois as well
Metallic. Respect!!!
Most Impressive!!!
Great video 🥰
Dang dude this is fire, great scheme makes me want to work on an army! Also Elegoo is fire, have their Saturn 2 and it's amazing. Super reliable printers with great aftermarket support.
Awesome stuff! Great work and congrats on completing your army!
As for the "necessary evil" of army painting, while it's awesome to see you tackle army painting, man, you should play some skirmish games. Paint up 4 minis and play some Relicblade, that's a full force for most factions. Or some Space Station Zero by your good friend Vincy V. A handful of dudes for Zona Alfa. Etc. 4-8 models and you're golden! Fun to explore different styles of model, too, without going too deep in, and still having a game to play with them.
Just got into this game beacuse your videos on it and loving it
Awesome looking army, my man! 👍🏻
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Love to see that paint more minis mentality 🙌
Oh man, this is the content I love from Miniac!!!
Love that we get another army deep dive!
Cool as always.
Congratulations on the finished army. I laughed so hard seeing how you solved the issue with the spilled resin.😁
Good job dude!
Good stuff man
This is an awesome video!
One thing that might be cool if its your style would be to have some soft music in the background when you get into the painting.
Looks great! I’m painting two warcry bands (death and chaos). Also, good sand bit. Fun jokes!
Looks great man! While I am a fan of trying different colors for the edges of bases and movement trays, nothing can beat a solid, classic black!
Great accomplishment indeed, good Sir! Also, congrats on overcoming that mysterious sticky white liquid spill!
Every time I see that plastic spill, I just grimace. I can only imagine the range of emotions you went through! 😂 Well done on fixing some of them AND completing another army. Kudos to you! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
The other thing about getting a army fully painted like this, you can play with it, enjoy it and then when you notice some models you'd like a bit nicer you can go back and crank them up to the next level later.
Ok, you're clever, Scott!
Looks good Scott. I don't collect armies but I enjoy watching all your videos.
Awesome-looking Greyjoy army! Can't wait to see the battle report with these boys on the table.
Hell yeah !
Looks really good. Especially the guy sitting the the chair. I feel bad for you spilling the liquids all over but huge applauds for finishing this project!
Congratulations on finishing another army.
Nice recovery from the mini splashing accident.
I enjoyed watching the struggle! You paid the iron price, and you ended up with quite the prize in the end. They look great, from the bases on up :-)
Very cool video, really enjoyed it. And those models look dope. I skipped asoiaf, but if the game had more traction, I’d jump in just for the sculpts.
NO! THEY ARE ALL CRAZY. PAINT THE SIDES BLACK GOOD GOD MAN
Even though i don't know anything about a game of ice and fire - other than that i've heard that you love it - I really look forward to getting to know it through you. I've watched a couple of battle reports and other content about warhammer the Old World today, and the quality of even the biggest channels is absolute dog poo compared to your videos. And i mean it's not just the obvious quality of video, audio and script, but it's your character most of all; from watching TUP i know you and John have a rare combination of intellect and humor and you guys don't need a perfectly planned script at all. So i'm thrilled to see you expand your channel maybe a bit more to the gamey side of the hobby, a bit looser and more freestyle - which would probably make producing videos quite a bit easier as well. I actually haven't painted a miniature in 15 years or so, but just watch your stuff because of both the flawless quality and overall vibe of your videos, and i wonder how many other people you might attract if you ventured past the pure painting-side of the hobby. I'm confident you would blow the competition right out of the water, whether it be battle reports, game instructions or reviews or other hobby related content. And don't get too hung up on quality alone, look at all the crap that's out there and still does excellent
Man you are not ready for what is coming in the saison 3 of GOT ! Fantastic video/tuto !
11:16, are we getting a video on those new paints? super cool stuff as always
One of my favourite mini painters playing my favourite mini game and being sponsored by my favourite 3d printer brand. This is a good day.
Looking forward to the battle report.
You're clever, hobby daddy
Dude you're army is a thousand times more cool than how they were represented in the tv show (they really just were there for part of the last season as a horde of boats, and we visit their main city...like twice)
You have ultracyl and fanatic paint, I am jealous.
I've had a 2000 point army of Ossiarch Bonereapers sitting on my desk where I've done all the hero units just so I dont have to batch paint. I'll ride the high of project completion and get the 40 fodder done, I still use your "Paint more Minis" art above my desk to help remind me.
You’re so clever!
"The bases feel a little lackluster"
The sound I mean in response: "MeeMOoomeeMoo Wahahahamamaa".
ITS FINE FINISH THE ARMY THEY LOOK GREAT. XD
Yup always paint the rim fittingly.
I am glad you were able to salvage at least a few models that got covered in resin.
I constantly lose my grip on the movement tray when I play ASoIaF. I was thinking on the top third to have some texture paint, since the tray is slanted and this shouldn't impare contacting other movement trays. What are your thoughts in that, have you experienced similar slippage when moving trays around?
haha, I drop movement trays ALL THE TIME. Some kind of texture on the side would certainly help, just hard to know where and how much and if it would look good or bad.
@@Miniac LOL great it isn't just me then 😂. I agree it would be a fine balance to walk for sure
