    I have been looking for this very comparison! Thank You I will be going with a Toro. The fence work and brush clearing is done now mowing and maintenance.

    Very informative video....thank you. I very much appreciate the 'speed or pace' at which you presented the video. Had it been slow I would have skipped it and not watched at all. In fact I probably would have complained about it in a comment ! But, you nailed it ! 🙂
    Now, about the comparison. I am one of those people you made this video for. I am in the market for one unit but I am on the fence about which type. In my mind, I can 'justify' both but need to keep reality in mind i.e. how much would I really use the bucket etc.vs. how much time I have to spend on mowing etc. I learned several things about the ZTR unit which helps me a lot: ride smoothness and grass throw. I was already aware of the ability to mow the yard faster - I have many trees to navigate around so a ZTR unit eeks out as my first choice at the end of the day. While it would be cool to have a BX I suppose the logical choice for me will be a ZTR and then address the need for other jobs later. It's not that 'money is no problem' but it's that I can accomplish most of the other tasks the BX could do via other means. Ultimately, that saves me huge $$$ by going with the ZTR.
    Now, I need to do my homework on the issue of which ZTR to get - a Toro or a Kabota. A vidoe on this would be very informative, not only to me, but to others in your audience.
    And oh, BTW --- what part of the country / state do you live in? Your property looks very nice. I am guessing Virginia - what part?
    Again, thank you and for now I will subscribe in hopes of gleaning more information !!

    I have had 3 zero turns (Grasshopper, Exmark Lazer and Bush Hog) and 2 tractors, Kubota B5200 and MF 1725m, as a rule Zero Turns ride way rougher than the tractor, even with a suspension seat, because you sit over the tires. If the only thing you did was mow, a zero turn is a clear winner. I refuse to use a MMM as it limits your machine and they are a PITA to use. I run a 60" rear discharge Bush Hog finish mower, bucket left on and it mows every bit as good, if not better than a ZTM. I can run as fast as the tractor will allow and continue to mow. The only compromise to a tractor is a bit of time. It takes about 30 minutes more to use a tractor on my property when using a tractor. When done right a tractor an implements will far outlive and out value a ZTM. Tractors are an investment and mowers simply are not.

    Great video. My 2 reasons I’m thinking of getting a zero turn even though I have a bx 2380 is the tractor just seems too “tippy” on some of my yard, and too many trees to go around.

    Great video, I have been looking at both products. If you had to mow 10 acres of hillside which one would ya use? I am currently using a 54 inch walk behind with a velkie, which will still be needed in the steeper parts. It would be nice to have a ride on for 6 or 7 acres that are not as steep. I am leaning toward the 4x4, what do you think? Thanks, great job on the video. Ron.

    I really appreciate this comparison! Have been trying to figure out if its worth buying both equipment types or just one. Just moved onto 15 acres and getting older. Your comment regarding your back sealed the deal with me. Also, I'm not necessarily a fan of putting mowing man hours on a tractor with 2x the cost of the a ZT. Again, been watching video all morning and glad I finally came across yours!

    • @TheSwampStalker
      @TheSwampStalker  Před 3 lety +1

      You and I think alike. Once I stopped using my tractor as a mower, I upgraded to a little bigger tractor and use a finish mower with it on areas I don't want to cut weekly. It has worked out great. You just can't beat the speed and comfort of a zero turn.

    • @Mike-wh9dq
      @Mike-wh9dq Před 2 lety

      @@TheSwampStalker Please explain the term 'finish mower on it' - am assuming you mean 'it' is the larger tractor?
      And, the idea of just upgrading to a larger tractor and not using it as the primary mower is another way to 'go into' the purchase of these units.
      I would guess that I am not alone when I say that I have been on the fence between a BX and a ZTR with the same deck size. The separation of the two by using a ZTR for primary mower and then getting a larger tractor (presumably without a deck) is an invaluable piece of information and should be added to your video that compares a ZTR and a BX. I would guess this approach could easily be the one that gets people like me 'off the fence' ! Thanks!!!

    @KD-bb3qm Před 2 lety +2

    Thanks for the very informative video. This is exactly the comparison I was after! I started looking at high end zero turn mowers with larger decks and where I live (Australia) the cost between them is almost the same so thought why not a small tractor but was not sure how well it would cut and the speed of cutting since it will likely be spending 99% of its time as a mower. I see that there are more comfortable air ride cushion aftermarket seat upgrades available so will potentially look at this if this is not comfortable enough.

    Great video. Have you compared cutting times on the same amount of grass with each unit? We have 3.5 acres of mostly open grass and a 52in zero turn. We want to upgrade mowers but I am leaning towards a sub-compact with mower instead. It take about 2hrs to mow with the 52. What would you estimate the difference in mowing time with the 60in tractor?

    • @TheSwampStalker
      @TheSwampStalker  Před 3 lety +2

      Tractor takes longer. No way around it, but I am comparing same deck sizes on both. My zero turn is a 60" and I cut 4 acres of grass in a hour 45. Took about 20-30 minutes longer with tractor.

    I need a small tractor with a loader for some projects and to help maintain a 1/2 mile milling road. Currently using an old MF135 thad dosent have a loader.
    Mowing about 5 ac with a Toro SS4225. Had the mower befor the property and its done well but my back is killing me after I get done.
    I have a line on a older under 300hr Kubota BX2230 with a loader and a 60" deck for less than a Titan MyRide 60".
    Would love to have both but for now the Kubota may win out. Don't know if i'll get another great deal like this. My back just wont be happy about it.

    Awesome video. I have been debating getting a sub compact. We only have 0.65 acre but we want to plant a rather large garden. By the time I get a 4x4 lawn tractor that I can stick a tiller on I have found that I can spend under a grand more and get a sub compact! Kinda mind blowing!
    I was really wondering how well the sub compact mowed since I've heard that they mow terribly. I have a Toro 5030 zero turn and it's cut quality is absolutely trash! I've done everything from leveling it to putting new blades on and it still misses stuff. However, it is an old abused mower I got from a friend cheap and the deck has holes (terrible quality paper thin deck) so that MAY contribute somehow?? However regardless, the frame is more flexible then a long bow too so.... Haha. DEFINITELY not as nice as your Toro!
    Knowing that they cut grass well is rather relieving! We just got this house (our first ownership) and the previous owner was HORRIBLE with the yard. In fact my neighbors have stopped by thanking me for making it look so nice, when all I've done is cut it! I literally kid you not the lawn is 80% weeds (dandelion and clover) and I've put chemicals down 3 times this fall to finally kill them off. I will have to overseed like crazy this spring too. Unfortunately we got the house too late in the season to kill the weeds AND overseed!
    Now the only had part is choosing WHICH sub compact! 🤔🤦🏻‍♂️. There are so many options, as I'm sure you know. I was leaning towards the Deere because of the ease of removing the deck. I like the Kubota but DON'T like the fact that if you don't get the backhoe then it can't be added later. That seems like a terrible missed opportunity by them. Since I don't really NEED one right now but would like to have it for some future plans (digging out flower beds and islands to fix them, the crumbling/rotting railroad tie borders and maybe adding a sprinkler system too).
    However, the pricing on units like the Mahindra are really good... Can get the tractor fully kitted (loader, mower hoe) for same price as a 1025r with a belly mower lol.
    Anyway, great video. I'll be checking out more of yours to see what else ya got going on. I'm pretty jealous of you guys with real land. Haha

      I ended up selling the Kubota and moving up to a Kioti CX series. I am very impressed with the Kioti. I owned a Mahindra at one time and loved it. There are so many quality tractors out there now, but you are right about the deere having the easiest deck to remove. If you end up with one you might be surprised at how many chores you find it handy for. Good luck, and thanks for watching.

    • @TheGibsOfTheTube
      @TheGibsOfTheTube Před 2 lety

      @@TheSwampStalker the CX series is a step up from the small compacts correct? Their CS is the baby ones I believe. That awesome for you though. Kind of a bummer for me because it's definitely more tractor then I probably need (haha).
      Which Mahindra did you own? I'll have to see if it's in your videos or not.... I don't see myself taking the deck off a whole lot so of the pricing is pretty far apart then I'll probably skip the Deere. I do see myself taking off the bucket more though. Since I can use it for random tasks of laziness. Possibly the same for a backhoe of I find one with it... (New mailbox post - backhoe or my hand post hole digger.... I'm going backhoe lol)
      We also have a huge driveway for what our property size is, especially in a pretty packed city of about 50,000 people on postage stamp sized properties (getting over 1/4 acre is pretty rare). It's probably 60' x 50' (has lot of space for parking cars and project cars 😁) which is a lot of snow to move. We are also the corner lot and I plan on cleaning the sidewalks as well because shockingly the city doesn't do it, even though we are right near a middle school and elementary. We haven't gotten a lot of snow lately (global warming or just wierd weather?). I only had to use my Yamaha 624 like 1 time last year. So that's another thing I could sell if I got one of the tractors!
      Keep up the cool videos. I'll be looking to see if you have ones on the baby compacts or on equipment/techniques that can apply to them.
