    I run the ZD1211 every weekday, working through 100 acres every week. Great, comfortable machine. The spring cushion seat eats up the jolts and the heavy blades hold a good edge for quite a while. Got over 700 hours on it now and all I've had to replace is rear tires, fluids and filters. Highly recommend, although it won't mow nearly as quickly as the old Hustler Super Z - that thing is a hotrod and will beat you to death!

    I really like my ZD1000 particularly the fuel economy. I can fill up in the AM and cut all day and rarely use 2-3 gallons of diesel. Since I use farm diesel, the cost is cheaper than gasoline, at least before the Wuhan. The only complaint I have is that the drive shaft requires grease at three spots, one of which is back under the transmission and it is an absolute pain in the arse to get to. The front wheels axel’s also require grease as well as the top insert for the wheel spindle. If you cut a lot of grass, the screens in front of the radiator will require cleaning so that the motor doesn’t overheat. So watch the temp gauge. Other than requiring about 50% more scheduled service on the chassis than gas models, the diesels are well worth the effort and cost.

      The main thing though is once you get north of the 3000 hr range you will find all your chassis parts are rebuildable where other mowers you have to start fabricating parts for the mower because they should of been non wear items.

    Kubota ZG127S has served me well on my 5 acres for the last 7+ years. Besides belts I did have a starter bend its shaft and a deck pulley wear out. Otherwise no problems and I have nothing bad to say about the kohler 27hp engine. I my only complaint is the low profile rear tires are a bit rough and the led lights are useless. Its built tough and I don't see any reason to go up a class of mower for a residential use. The 54" deck is plenty for 5 acres so I don't agree with the ratings given here. I would recommend the kubota mowers and would buy one again.

    Love Kubota stuff. Had a mx5200hst for a few years. Fantastic stuff. The Kubotas are all over priced. The 42” with the Kawasaki is 3900. For the same money I can get a bad boy, gravely, hustler, with the same Kawasaki or the next hp up plus a 54” deck. The Kubota 42” should be 3200 to be competitive

    • @MessicksEquip
      @MessicksEquip  Před 3 lety +2

      the zero turn market is way, way over crowded. You also need to check things like seat quality, transmission, tire sizes, frame material, deck spindles, etc. Add to that the financing package, ZTR companies pass most financing costs along to the dealer and buyer, Kubota has those costs already baked into the price of the mower. We sell 6-7 lines, its really hard to do an apples-apples comparison.

Question have there been any improvements in their designs over past 10 years in keeping the radiator free of dust? eg. Wider fins? better screens? Finless radiators?

    I really think the ZG227 and that whole series is way underrated, I would have like you to tell folks how the ZG series has a Kubota air cooled V-twin engine. I have had mine for 10 years now and have NEVER had one mechanical issues and I mow 3 acres. "Back in the day" it was the lowest priced Kubota zero turn at $10K! I wanted a diesel in the worst way but now realize I never did need it. My 27 hp Kubota cannot be "bogged down" with a 54" deck.

    I was looking at some of the Kubota zero turns. Just curious, why aren't higher HP options available? I know diesels are restricted by emissions but the Z1511 has ~30HP which is probably fine. The ZG300 looks like a well built, heavy duty machine but the 26HP seems like it will be a little underpowered. If I was Kubota and I built these HD machines, I'd want to advertise them as the heaviest duty and most powerful.

    • @grantparnes
      @grantparnes Před 2 lety +1

      No one answered you, which I always find weird from a dealer who posts the video. My guess to your question is, diesel has double to triple the torque of gas. My zd326 will out do my 36inch walk behind mower on hills sideways. If you have extremely steep hills you will cut ruts over time and a 54/60inch walk behind or stiner/ventrac mower would be better. You made one error regarding the 200 series saying from 42” to 52” all run the same chassis.
    Incorrect.
    Both Z231 models that run the 48” and 52” decks are the same larger chassis.
    But the 42” is a completely different mower, is smaller, lighter, more plastic parts, cheaper hydrostatics and is a stand-alone smaller and cheaper mower. It has an unsprung cheaper little seat, smaller fuel tank, smaller drive wheels, no headlights, no tow hitch and more.
    I compared the z231KW 42” and Z231BR 48”(Briggs and Stratton motor) and Z231KH 48” (Kohler motor) side by side and the 42” is a toy compared to both 48” models.
    I’m really surprised that you said they were all on the same chassis and made out as if they were the same, when the 42” is a completely different mower.

      honestly, its harder and harder any more to really recommend one gas engine above another.

      Kawasaki is the best gas engine

      Messick's my pops has a Ferris and uncle has John Deere. Pops loves his Ferris suspension. I want a zero turn mower so bad. Kubota mower looking more attractive for sure.

    What is the price comparison between petrol (gas) and diesel in the USA in the UK petrol is way cheaper than diesel it’s taxed more due to diesel emissions

    • @MessicksEquip
      @MessicksEquip  Před 4 lety +1

      Same here, by 20-30%. We can buy off road diesel with no tax

      Messick's we can here as well it has red dye in it. I work for the local government authority cutting grass all our machines have to run the road diesel as we as a company do more than six miles a day on the road I use a new Holland T5.85 with a hydraulic 7 gang unit behind that costs about £1500 ($1850) a month to run petrol machines are not very popular here I’m not sure why that is years ago I used to work on a golf course it was all petrol machines now you don’t find any unless there old I heard there was talk of electric machines coming to the uk market is that the same in USA

    Have to wonder if any of these Kubota zero turn mowers have the option of lights for late hour mowing or tail lights so others
    can see you on a large piece of property. Kubota has a fine reputation, and one wonders how durable and reliable each range/model
    zero turn mower really is.

      Messick's I wanted to know since Kawasaki and Kohler both make engines in their home countries and China how can I be assured of where my engine was built? I stated that in order to get the quality transmission and a durable engine the only choice was the ztd. Is that a correct assumption?

    • @MessicksEquip
      @MessicksEquip  Před 4 lety +1

      I did not delete anything that looked like that.
      Honestly, I have no idea what those brands have been doing for sourcing. I'd absolutely agree though that the quality and durability of a ZD is superb, it's also 2x the price of a mower like a Z400 though too.

      @@John-lc1uq To be honest you will have an engine that will run 50 hrs and grenade or it will last 800 hrs on the low end or north of 1500 depending on maintenance. I am on a landscape forum and if there are issues with engines you hear about them fast. There really hasn't been any major issues that I have heard of in the last 10 years. If you are worried, take the engine you are thinking of buying and throw that engine model number in google and see if what you find. If you find a never ending trail of issues then you might want to stay away.
