Jean's mom sounds like an absolute delight with the most thoughtful gestures! I can't believe she went as as far as getting your favourite ice creams in advance of the shop's annual closure. Love. Happy birthday Arielle.
Thank you ! ☺️
When it comes to politics, you have to take people at face value, and how they treat you. It's also not fair to assume that because someone votes for a particular party, they espouse everything that party stands for. It's worth remembering too, that freedom of speech inherently means the articulation of differing opinions, even those you really, truly hate ☘️🍁
Love the political conversation. It has made friendships tough, for sure.
Mister and missus, I see you looking at us… 😂 happy birthday btw!!
I thought it was hysterical they addressed us that way 😂😂 thank you !
Encore bon anniversaire! Je t’aime ❤
Regarding the political climate, yes, living in the United States, we have now dealt with this for many years. We continue to have such a climate of political divisiveness. The hate, the vitriol, the ignorance and the mean-spirited commentary does weigh you down psychologically. I feel like politics in the United States has become a complete mockery. I myself was very hurt to have lost a childhood friend who started sending me propaganda and hate mail because she became enchanted with the claims and stance of an extremist political party she chose to follow. She was so verbally abusive I ended up having to block her. That being said, we do have family members that do not share our political views, and we were able to not talk about politics when we see them, and still know they love us and we love them. I just think it's a personal decision that you have to make when people start to prioritize the political motivations in a way that may be detrimental to your friendship. You have to stay true to your values. I'm not giving advice I'm just saying that's how I feel about it.
Happy birthday, Arielle! Politicians are a different kind of person, I am finding....but perhaps the radical right in France is rather generalizing: I believe, as in Britain and all of Europe, there is an outcry against the uncontrolled (apparently) influx of refugee immigrants? Just my thought. People across the world are so desperate to find a peaceful existence, which often is not so in their home countries...but then, of course, you get the chancers, the ones who look for an opportunity to go to a new country and live off the state of that country. Sounds like you have a gem of a guy in Jean, and his parents obviously adore you (understandably)......
Jeans mom made that?? Amazing. She sounds like a perfect future mother in law 🤭
Hahahahhaa she really is great ☺️
love you & your politics, happy birthday!
Thank you ! ☺️
I have the Garmin Vivoactive 5. I love it. I track all of my mountain bike rides and spin classes with it. It’s fantastic. And I’d never remember to charge a battery every night, so I’m so thankful my battery will last for 12 days or so. Sometimes a little less if I’m using the GPS a lot.
Ok this is awesome to hear !!!
The immigrant issue is huge everywhere. In USA it's partly because many of them are coming here to do us harm, and we already have huge housing shortage. It's very complex...
I feel ya! My birthday is June 4th and it’s always been sunny and 75! This year….. rain, wind and cold 🥶 no fun
Jean's maman sounds awesome 😍
She is !! ☺️☺️
Sounds like a very lovely birthday (other than the weather!). As an American who married a European, who happens to be an immigrant in Switzerland, I don’t get the anti immigrant stance, either. My own great grandparents were immigrants to the 🇺🇸. Sadly, one is my parents is extremely racist and hateful towards immigrants, despite the fact that both their kids married people for other countries and they have biracial grandkids 🙄 the cognitive dissonance is real.
I find it very difficult to see people whose politics are diametrically opposed to mine in the same way. I certainly respect their views but I would struggle to want to be around them. I have family that have very different political leanings and as a rule we agree to disagree and try not to get into political discussions.
Arielle that was your fault re dessert lol
