Hey Boatman if you would please tell me more. I recently stumbled upon an old kart frame and chassis unlike any shifter carts I see on you tube. It has a big gas tank on the side and is designed to run two belt driven motors on both sides in the back. I have no idea what kind of motors to use or where to find them. I'm assuming twin two stroke centrifugal clutch motors. Can you point me in a direction? Thank you
got into carting around then, Unlimited classes were running two mac 20s seemed superfast. My first shifter race made me look at karts totally different. They were going 120mph down the straights. I really like the 100cc gt karts now, easy and fast.
My older brother began racing a Mac 5 when he was 10 years old back in 1958. He won every race it seems and his room was jammed pack with trophies. He stopped racing when he was about 15. I was five years younger, so never got the chance, but there were no minimum weights to meet (and he only weighed about 70-105 pounds over that 6 year period) and he raced with adults. Women raced in a separate class called the Powder Puff class.
Great video. I raced 200 cc stock laydown back in the early 80s. I'd be dicing like hell with my class, and then the 270 shifters would lap us. Sometimes I didn't even hear their harmonics because they approached so fast. Ahhhh the memories. Thanks Sean.
That was very nice, brought back memories. Some of those aero karts are fast on the straights, but turning not so much, or the drivers were throwing the anchors way early. Great racing from you 2.
I was the red laydown kart in the vid.... The situp guys were 125 shifters Mine is a single geared 125cc This is one of my favorite races! Even though we were in different classes...
I took a 3 day Skip Barber Racing School at M-O years ago in Formula Fords. It was a blast. We worked up to 120 on the back straight, We spent about 60% of the time on the track. This video brought it all back to me. This is some great driving!
I'm the red laydown 8 (actually 181) I was not sliding, tires weren't worn... When Steve and Sean caught me, I started taking wider exits to allow them the line due to them having faster acceleration from shifting.... Mine isn't a shifter kart only a single gear
Hello Sean, Having raced with WKA & Woodbridge for 15 years in Enduros. i have been to Mid Ohio before & as many classes it would seem your viewers don;t understand the fact you not racing the 250s or the Enduros just the guys in your class. You did a fine job out there & i am surprised to see you dispatch many of the 250s . With 125ccs you should outrun the Enduros with the KT100s. Nice racing & though i got out of the sport in 2007 i had plenty of great times especially at Summit Point. Both clubs are not doing as well as they should but by the comments perhaps it's best they just watch as many seem quite clueless as to seperate classes & the fact your running well over 100 MPH & not 40 as one guy seemed to think. Don't like stepping on toes but it sure helps to understand what your watching. Best of luck in the future & if you don't already know Summit Point has been completely resurfaced from the ground up & the lap times are dropping like flies. The record there in a sports racer is now 1;006 . The Kart record is by Andy Kiker who you may know ,he turned 1;10. The few times i've been to Mid Ohio were fantastic except one race was in the rain & not so much fun. Thanks for sharing your helmet cam vid.
Seems like youre kart built for much cornering speed but suffers a lot on straight away, but good balance thou. Great driving skills and a lot of balls for late braking. Kudos dude.

Ive raced at Mid Ohio before on two wheels, now that Im older Im contemplating karts because I really miss racing. You looked like you were having a blast man, well done!
Glen I would highly recommend getting into racing in a Shifter Kart. Stock Honda refers to the engine. This one was a 2001 stock 125cc Honda motor. It is specified as stock in the class name because they are moderately modifiable. If you are to run a modded Honda engine, it is usually run in the more generic shifter class
Sean Pyles they gotta be running super rich as well. Or maybe metallurgy has advanced since 1993??? I know i couldnt keep a kx125 pinned like they do. The top of the piston would melt by the exhaust port scar the cylinder and stick a ring every time.

2L13 What brake zone.
wish i knew this was a sport as a kid. loved go karts. is there ever adult things like this?
electroboy this is adults racing right here you just got to find a right place these karts are targeted more towards adults because they go way faster
Yep I’ve got a 80cc shifter it can hit speeds of up to 100mph. Not something a kid should even be getting near.
@@Brax2700 how you do take it back & forth to a track? guess living in a condo won't work for this sport. :-( no space to store a kart. lol
electroboy some people rent a garage at the track (depending on which track) which is what I used to do. But my kart fits in my Honda Odyssey with the back wheels and bumpers off. So I just store it in my garage.
Where do you buy these shifter karts and how much are they
You can find these karts with the stock Honda shifter engine from $3k-5k. There is one for sale in Texas right now for $2k
Where are the bananas?
In your tail pipe 😂
