  • Today we're taking the Harley Davidson Sportster 48 out for a ride, review, and impressions. I've ridden tons of Sportsters over the years and this is one of my personal favorites. I'll talk a little bit about the 48, the Sportster in general, the 883 vs 1200 for beginner riders, and just share my overall thoughts and opinions on the motorcycle.

    Girls bike? I disagree.
If someone is looking for a bar hopper or city rider and wants a cool looking bike that isn't a full dresser this is a great option.
Not to mention 1200cc is pretty respectable it's not an 883.
Im a guy still riding an 805cc.

The Humble Sportster , Only Looked Down upon By the Insecure And Weak..It has Been the Longest and Best Production Bike in History of Motorcycles with Many Attributes and Records Under its Belt , and Still Considered the Best Evo Ever by MANY..I've had two..2012 883 and 18 1200 Roadster that pulled 106 in Third @ 6400 Rpm ,,Stage one Only with 79 lbs and 80 bhp.

That’s kinda why I’d rather just get a Sportster lol. A Harley 48 is 70 ft lbs torque and 60hp stock. If that’s just a stage one then you’re almost on par with some 103 and 107 softails for cheaper if you get it used.

I have 2 Sportys and I love them both. My 03 883 is just a basic mostly factory bike with the exception of exhaust, handlebars, and it's been lowered a bit. My 88 883 with the 2004 Buell XB9 top end is my rigid frame monster. I love both bikes. In short, love what you ride, and ride what you love. Great video!

Cool video, man! I liked your wife’s video on the same bike. Last bike I built was an 81 Honda CB900C that was a super low, bobbed out rigid. Fun, fast bike! I sold it to put money into my 2 truck projects and wasn’t in the market for a bike at all. 2 weeks ago, my cousin gifted me a ‘14 48 just like this one. Has 14” apes, tank lift and exhaust. I’ve never owned a Harley until now, but rode my cousin’s Street Bob plenty. The 48 is no slouch in power, and it’s a really fun bike to ride. Obviously, mine is a keeper due to sentimental value, and I plan on a few upgrades as well. Love your channel, bro!

My first Harley was a 2014 Sportster 48, I loved it, and part of me wishes I still had it. It's slick looking bike, sounds fantastic, and with minimal work is a real head turner. The only reason I still don't have it is I have a 30 mile ride to work and I needed more horseys and gears to make it safely in Western Washington traffic. Now I have a Dyna Low Rider S but my 48 when put side by side with my Low Rider S may be the slicker looking bike even though it is inferior in just about every way.

In New Zealand the Sportster 1200's encroach on Victory 106 Steel Frame pricing. So I picked the Victory. I want a Sportster so I can cut it up and mod it, but the prices over here are just too high. My Hammer cost me more than my CBR600RR and ZX10R combined.

Awesome vid Jon. I agree about this being a girls bike in the sense of size. Harley themselves advertise this and the 883 with women riding them. Is it just for girls? No,ofc not but for those intimidated by the size and weight of the other bikes, the sportster is a reminder they have smaller bikes too. I’ve seen women on road glides and road kings as well. Let’s see more women on bikes period so 😀😃

Power isn't a problem. The 1200 makes only 20hp less than the big M-8's, but the bike weighs 200-400lbs less. More often than not the Sportster 48 is faster than bigger bikes.
Plus, those Evo engines respond far better too modification than any other Harley engine. A set of pipes, intake and a V&H Fuelpak FP3 makes a much bigger difference on a 1200 Evo than it does on a 114. Getting 100hp out of a Evo is very easy, and it's in a 550lb bike!

The vibration on the rigid-mounted ones was vicious, and the exhaust was so loud that after an extended ride it would take a couple of hours to get your hearing back. The rubber-mounted sportsters do not vibrate and the new exhaust is quiet as a Honda. (The one in the video has after-market exhaust.). You're right though that the power is nothing special.

Girls bikes? You mean girls like Little Bihh, Dani Pray, Blondie? Girls who can do things with pretty much any bike they get on that would embarrass a lot of men? I hate when people call something a girls bike, especially here on the east coast where we have a lot of females who can outride most of the men. The Sportster has been in production longer than most of those idiots have been alive, and for good reason. Just because you can’t ride the bike you own doesn’t mean you get to call the bike you should have bought first a girls bike. SMDH. Great vid.

Girls bike? Girls ride what they want. All bikes are girls bikes.I’ve seen women riding big heavy bagger bikes.Girls bike is a dumb statement.

👎🏽 thumbs down. You think women want to ride a weak ass bike like that. I’m a 5’1’’ woman that rides a 111 stroke Indian dark horse bagger.

@@Liberalcali he’s probably asking if you watched the video. Any bike is for anybody. People make too big a deal over things that don’t matter.
