    Despite the 48's two big drawbacks- it's vertebrae crunching suspension from the factory and it's tiny fuel tank-this Honda owner had a total blast riding this rocket of a bike! The H-D is raw and fast, with it's vibration. I'm impressed with the Sportster 1200.

    Major improvement happened in the 2004 models Sportsters when HD rubber mounted the motor and adopted the oval pistons and lighter push rods from Buell. Riding quality improved many times over, except for the stock seat which is only good for short distances.

    Got my 09 883L with 600 miles for $3500. Changed to a tracker bar and added 2 inches to my rear suspension with 13 inch progressive shocks and gave it a roadster look (minus the chopped fender). The price was right, and I was looking to get into motorcycling, and haven't had a day I didn't enjoy it. I did also change the factory seat for a mustang seat and replaced the halogen headlight with the daymaker.

      That's why You buy a bigger bike, My Superglide holds 5 gal. You can go 250 miles if You want, but I don't mind stopping after 150 miles. Now however I'm getting older and would like to downsize to a nice sporty, I don't go more than 100 miles on most rides anymore anyway. And the 48 looks like so much fun to ride! like a high powered minibike! I'd love to have one!

    The 1200/883 evo engine came out in 86. 84 and 85 was still the ironhead, which had been in production since 1957. The big twin Evos came out in 84, but depending on the model like the FXWG you could get a Shovelhead, but an FXR/FXST would have the Evo. Another tidbit, the 84-5 FXST and FXWG were available with a 4 speed kickstart held over from the shovelhead.

    Shocks upgrade on a sportster 48 are a must, I upgraded mine to progressive 444 12inch and front fork monotube kit, and the bike instantly felt much plusher, doesn’t bottom out and is much more stable. The stock suspension and seat is total crap.

    HD 48 is what made me attracted to bikes, I'm more a car guy old jeeps an all that are my thing. I always wanted to have a HD 48 but here in India HD price sky rocketed like 18-20% from 2020. A new HD 48 costs near about a new 2022 gen3 Hayabusa and Hayabusa is a lot cheaper to maintain here, and Suzuki makes Hayabusa here. $40 or something near is what you pay for a service of Hayabusa, except parts like oil & filters all that. Although HD 48 is my love but I'm considering Hayabusa. I might one on my next B day.

You picked the 48 based on all the things I want. It will be my first Harley. You've convinced me on getting one. The versatility on all the changes that you can do. Obviously gas tank being the first one because there will be some motor work done to mine. Possibly a wider rear tire. It seems to just have everything that I want. 48 and Iron are really sharps motorcycles
    The diference than I found on 'em Is The gas tank 48 looks very Classico
    And the front tire The Iron looks better in my humble opinion, not so big...
    AND!!! 🤔 1200 - 883 = Is like 317 cubic inches
    But definetely The 48 Is better Blockhead, great choice Loco! 😎👍🏼

    Awesome bike. Can you put a 3.5 gal. tank, like the ones on the new street bob's on it? I wonder what it would look like.

    Like the sportster also man because of all the stuff you can do to them and the starting price. I'm 6ft and comfortable on these bikes. My dad doesn't u understand why I like them at all and wants me to get a big twin but the sporty all the way for me also.

    Oi mate! As always, i appreciate your video as always, but i have question. Dont you think that HD Roadster is bit more bang for the buck, as far as handling and braking goes?

    I think the sportster platform is the best bang for your buck the new ones are cool yes I'd like one but the cost is absurd

    Now that you've had both the 48 and the 883 which one would you say would be better for a first bike. I want to get a sportswear but in torn between the 48 and the 883. Your thoughts?

  • @Bo-gel
    @Bo-gel Před 2 lety

    Will be waste a money to buy 48 or 1200. I reckoned after 883 go straight to softail or street bob, otherwise if not keep your 883 use the money modified and stage the engine!
