Dear Sir! You should have given more time to this 2 ft 6 inch gauge 'trans-indus railway'. I spent my childhood at Isa Khel and always yearned to see and board this 'chhoti rail' at Isa Khel Railway Station but my parents didn't fulfil my wish. While going to Daud Khel and Mianwali by road, we could appreciate the track, semaphore signals and telegraph poles running parallel to the road. At times with stroke of luck we could see the passing train coming from the opposite side. I have been told that at Lakki Marwat Jn. another military line desceded south to connect Tank and Manzai fort for South Waziristan campaigns. For a brief period a portable rail (2 ft gauge) was laid between Tank and Dera Ismail Khan. This initially horse drawn and later on locomotive led railway remained active between DI Khan and Tank for few years and was uprooted later as the empire desperately needed steel for other purposes.

Being ex-railways employee, I totally agree with you that the best tea I ever had was in railway engine during my track inspection from DG Khan to Jackobabad.

Pleasure listening. In 1974,well upto 1979,I served in Kohat, with one of our tank squadrons in Thall.Narrow gauge train was functional.
Each railway station enroute was a fortress,self-sufficient,with it's own water well and grain stocks. The door was solid steel. The Station was meant to withstand an attack and hold off the attackers until response from govt forces.

Pranam Sir your way of expressing the events and stories are so beautiful that I use to listen to it as lullaby...(though get interrupted to images you mention in mid of it 😅 to sketch out imagination in sound detailing) ... Pardon my english.. Hindi is my mother tongue...I am from Allahabad (Prayagraj).
May you stay blessed and healthy ⭐🙏

I watch your videos with great interest.
I would like to share my experience of train journey which was back in 1975.I was 25 years of age and was posted as a bank manager in aUBL branch between Vehari and Mailsi .My branch was ten miles in between Vehari and same from Mailsi.
There were two trains on which I use to travel. The morning train and an afternoon train.Sometimes the afternoon train would become too late and I was helped by the station master some character named Ashiq Shah to take a goods train .I was accommodated in the break compartment which was the end.
one ..I use to meet a guard named Younis whom I found very different from the other folks .l used to see him reading books which according to him was preparing for his master's degree.Time passed and it was 1979 or 80 .I visited a cousin of mine who was a CSS trainee and was staying with his batch mates in the International hotel Lahore .As I knocked the door of his room to my surprise the door was opened by the same guard Younis. He told me that he passed his CSS exams preparing in the same trains break compartment.
I do have many other unbelievable train stories which I can share with you sometime.
My WhatsApp is +92 3065157707 .Just send me a message when you are free
