Bagla Pohela Boisakh, also known as Bengali New Year, is a vibrant and joyous celebration that marks the beginning of the Bengali calendar.
The Bangla community in Zurich, consisting of Bengali expatriates and their families, came together to commemorate this special day with great enthusiasm and cultural fervor. The celebration took place in a vibrant and lively atmosphere, echoing the spirit of the Bengali culture and traditions.
The festivities kicked off with a grand procession led by community members dressed in traditional Bengali attire, such as sarees for women and dhotis or panjabis for men. The procession, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of dhak (traditional Bengali drum) and the melodious tunes of Rabindra Sangeet (songs composed by Rabindranath Tagore), paraded through the streets of Zurich.
