Can't believe it's 44 yrs since this was released. I remember hearing it when I was in the Paras - British Army at 20....the lads would play it loud...now in my 60's still a great piece of 🎶 music
My favorite memory of this song is traveling over the Sierra Nevada mountains on highway 88 westbound in a bus, listening to this album on my headphones ,1989 or 1990, nearing sunset watching the aspen groves fly past. It was a thousand times cooler than this video. Never forget it. Never.
Ain't that highway 80? Cause I had a similar epiphany there around the same time on a road trip from Chicago to The Bay...nonstop PS this video is way cool tho. Can't compete with taking the sierra pass, but not much can
Definitely I-80. I-88 is limited to Illinois. But the idea is sound. I grew up in Reno around the time you passed through the Sierra Nevada mountains. This song fits very well. As a kid I watched The Twilight Zone, and The Outer Limits often. This song, paired with those shows captured my imagination. Though, long since I've left my hometown, I've figured that Aokigahara (the suicide forest) of Japan is a more accurate geo-location that this song is an embodiment of.
My favorite memory of this song is traveling on north Europe, till Amsterdam, with an old Citroen Pallas and without time, rules, rush. I will always love it
@@lgd1974 Aokigahara, hmmm..I'll have to give that a look, sounds cool. There is a state hwy 88 in Cali as well, over by the decommissioned nuke plant near Jackson, between Interstate 80 and Yosemite. First time I heard this I was on a mission from Kelso Wa to the Hood River Or, a friend was stranded and I was on my way past evergreens, water falls, with the Columbia to my left. Good times.
